A type of modern technology should be provided to the students in the classrooms at school. The next few paragraphs will explain how modern technology, such as iPads and Mac computers, can help students in classrooms learn at their own pace and be able to keep better track of notes or assignments. It will explain how modern technology can help improve students’ scores on tests, mid-terms, and finals. In addition, it will explain why using LoudCloud systems into the curriculum is a high-quality choice. Therefore, iPads or personal laptops should be provided by the district to the students at Jackson High School because it would help improve their academics significantly.
To begin with, using an iPad can help students track their assignments, take notes, and study for tests and finals for their classes. Teachers can also give lessons and keep track of what students are working on, and it will help them stay more organized than using a regular computer monitor. “There are also three iWork applications that help students and teachers put together professional-looking documents, presentations, etc. One of the iWork applications called Pages is a strong word processor with easy-to-use layout tools and a large screen keyboard. The second is the Keynote application, which lets students construct presentations with outstanding animations and effects. The third is the Numbers application, which lets students and teachers make compelling and stand out spreadsheets in minutes. The iPad will also let students or teachers print anything they want from it” (Apple).

”Books will soon be obsolete in the schools...Scholars will soon be instructed through the eye. It is possible to touch every branch of human knowledge with the motion picture” (Thomas Edison). An idea that was destined for failure has now been made into the key source to get students and teachers more interacted while in a classroom setting. Tablets such as the iPad and the Microsoft surface have made this idea possible, showing students that there is another alternative to the traditional method which would be a printed version of the textbook. Tablets are portable computers that use a touchscreen as its primary input device, meaning that both keyboard and mouse are both physically located on the screen. Early Tablets were built to be used with a pen, today however tablets can be used with just one finger or multiple fingers with the support of multi touch input. Tablet have had a positive input on society especially students in school that are looking to get their work done in an engaging way and, not by moving a pen or pencil like it’s been done for decades. Tablets have proven to be the better tool for learning among students.
At the iPad center the students use a specific app that Mrs. Zeek tells them to use. I have seen the children use the apps Epic and Xtra Math. Epic is a reading app that reads stories to the child. Xtra Math is an app that allows the students to practice math skills through games. I thought it was interesting that Mrs. Zeek had a box full of laminated QR codes, one for each student, so the students can sign into Xtra Math with that. I did not even know that was possible! The children absolutely love using the iPads. Mrs. Zeek also showed me an app that she has on her iPad called Classroom, which allows her to see what all the children are doing on their individual iPads. This is a very handy app, especially for higher grades so students cannot do inappropriate things on the iPads. We talked about app selection in class and these two apps seem to meet all of the qualities such as easy navigation, student engagement, and developmental appropriateness. There is also a listening center where the children listen and follow along with books on CD or cassette tape. Furthermore, the learning process is easily enhanced when technology is used. First, with Internet access in each classroom, it allows the teacher to access massive amounts of information in just a few seconds. This information can be given to the students in a clear, easy to read format as it is projected onto the screen. With such easy access to information, students are able to learn more in a smaller time span, while teachers are able to be more efficient in how they teach. This makes the education a person gets from their school more valuable for their money; and money is important as college costs continue to rise.

Modern technology has made it so much easier to obtain educational information for classroom or homework assignments. It offers educational games that stimulate the brain and help children who have difficulties focusing on traditional teaching and learning procedures. College students are even taking advantage of online courses that many colleges are offering as an alternative to physically attending classes. Advances in technology and computers will continue to play an important role in education for many generations to come.
The introduction of technology into education has revolutionized the teaching quality and learning outcome in the last ten years. The integration of technology into lectures by teachers in classroom has become so natural that both teachers and learners consider computers and their related applications for instruction are “a routine component of the classroom and educational processes in general” (Nuldén, 1999 cited in Buzzard et al., 2011, pp.131-139).
As more people began to access the Internet through smart phones and tablets rather than laptops and computers, it is not a surprise that they would also want to transform the American education system by bringing tablets into classrooms. In fact, a few schools around the country have already replaced textbooks with tablets and have seen improvements in students’ standardized test scores. Using tablets instead of textbooks is not only convenient and helpful, but it can also reduce the amount of paper wastes in school. However, it is not a good idea to completely transform textbooks with tablets with the current technology, for it can not only be damaging to the environment and costly to set up, but also might not be effective in improving K-12 education in the long run.

One of the characteristics of the modern classroom is collaboration and technology helps to empower it. With classroom technology students can collaborate with other students and their teachers in and outside of the classroom quickly and easily.

Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom.
