Sports are important in the society of the United States. Sports promote and motivate the development of physical fitness and sports participation for all Americans of all ages.
The four major sports are most popular in the United States ; American football, Basketball, Baseball, and Ice Hockey. They are all enjoyed by not only americans, but also people in all around the world.
Especially sports are associated with education in the United States. Most high schools and universities organized sports. College sports competitions play an important role in the American sporting culture. Moreover, in many cases college athletics are more popular than professional sport.

American football
American football, which is known as football in the United States, is one type of football that developed by combining soccer and rugby in the United States in 19th.

American football played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field. The offense team attempts to advance forward with an oval ball by running or passing. They have to advance with the oval ball at least ten yards in four downs to get a new sets of four downs continuously. Unless, they should turn over the oval ball and offense opportunity to the opposing team. Most points are scored by advancing the oval ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. The team with the most points at the end of a game wins.

Motor sports are widely popular in the United States, but Americans are generally not interested in major international series, such as Formula One(F1) and MotoGP. They are more favor in american-grown racing series.
The united States has good conditions for motor sports. Especially, spacious landmass is very suitable environment for it. Currently, there are over 1,400 tracks and more than 100 of associations in the United States.
The most popular auto racing in the U.S. is stock car races hosted by The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing(NASCAR). One of them ,Sprint Cup Series, that NASCAR is most proud of, play races throughout the continental United States 36 times for a year.
