How Chemistry and Physics Affect Every Part of the World

An idea that has both perplexed and intrigued me is the concept of how science, in my case chemistry and physics, directly impacts every single part of the world. I have always been puzzled by the secrets of what the world is composed of and how exactly everything works in the world. However, it wasn’t until recently in high school that I began to grasp the basic fundamentals of how the world actually does operate.
In order to understand the origin of this desire to attain more knowledge and discover more about the way life works, I must provide a small anecdote from last year in my AP chemistry class. My chemistry teacher had said something that I continue to ponder today. In class that day we were briefly reviewing the periodic table and after concluding his lesson, my teacher said, “Isn’t it crazy how the entire world is made up of only this many elements.” This statement made me try something crazy that I had never attempted before, I tried to put the world into perspective.
