There may come a time in a long haul trucker's life where he wants to leave the the simplicity of being a company driver, and to enter the exciting world of being an independent contractor. While a company employed driver is assured his miles and loads, pay and benefits, an independent contractor is his own business entity, whether incorporated as a Limited Liability Company, or doing business under his own name (Kostas, 2012). The first step in him becoming an independent contractor, in this case, is procuring commercial equipment adequate to his needs. This in and of itself is a difficult step, an obstacle to financial freedom, as attaining the necessary equipment can be a daunting task. Whether he decides to locate a lender, buy from a “lemon lot”, lease equipment, or lease to own, he may find it difficult to proceed successfully.
A common method for a driver to acquire his first truck is through a loan through a private lending organization, like a bank or an investment institution which helps to underwrite small businesses (Jacobson, 2008). The upside to this is that the equipment is paid for in full, so the seller is satisfied, and the purchaser needs only make his monthly payments on time. The downside to this is that lenders charge interest, and based on the borrower's credit rating, it may be prohibitively high, or require additional collateral or a cosigner. Additionally, due to the risk involved in lending for this sort of equipment, many smaller lending bodies may not actually lend for the purchase of a commercial vehicle.
Another method for him to attain his needed equipment is to find a “lemon lot”, commonly referred to as a “buy here/pay here” dealer (Jacobson, 2008). The upside to this method is that it may b...

Overall, safety, the size of the semi truck's engine, and time are all really important factors in the semi trucking industry. They all tie together and construct the reason of how semi trucks are better transportation methods than other means of product-shipping methods. When a person actually stops and thinks about this, they realize that there are more things that a semi truck does other than transport products to stores. So, next time you see a semi truck, think about

Other people who may benefit from leasing includes those with a low monthly income. Generally speaking, a lease on a vehicle is going to come with a lower down payment and lower monthly payments. If you only average a $1,000 a month, you may be able to handle a car payment that is $300 instead of $600. It also ensures that if you like the vehicle, at the end of your lease, you may be able to turn the lease payments you have made into a way to pay it off once you decide to keep it.
After obtaining my driver's license at the age of eighteen, I quickly began to believe that I was the reincarnate of Dale Earnhardt. No matter where I was driving to or for what reason, speeding was always a part of the equation. Young and uninformed of the risks associated with my reckless driving habits, I had convinced myself that I was not only invincible, but above the law as well. After receiving a speeding ticket and other traffic citations as the result of an accident, I was forced to re-evaluate my belief that I had no obligation to follow the law and in turn the notion of my invincibility. After much reflection and and soul searching, I came to the conclusion that life, like driving, is a gift that is very fragile and should not be regarded as irresponsibly as I had been treating it by driving so recklessly.

Occupational science is an emerging academic discipline which is based on the traditional values and beliefs of the occupational therapy practice as articulated by Adolph Meyer, (Yexer ,1993), (Reilly, 1962) and others. It draws on a range of theories, research methodologies and approaches in order to understand humans as occupational beings. Also, it assumes that people’s experiences in engagement in meaningful and purposeful occupations influences both performance and intrinsic motivation ( Haertl, 2007)
When you think of trucks there are many that will come to mind but the one that is most know is the

She proposed the following hypothesis “Is occupational therapy a service vital and unique enough for medicine to support and society to reward” (Reilly, 1962). The hypothesis was out to prove that occupational therapy is important for medicine to sustain and for society to value. She proved her hypothesis by famously stating at the lecture.” That man, through the use of his hands, as they are energized by mind and will, can influence that state of his own health” (Reilly, 1962). Humans through the use of occupation can establish their thoughts, beliefs and mindset. The profession of occupational therapy is not solely medical based it requires that it also looks at humans accomplishments throughout. The profession should look at what one has accomplished and what one can accomplish through their occupations and how that can impact their well being (Reilly,

Automotive ethics is a subject that is often over looked. Not many people tend to look at what is ethical in the automotive industry; most people are generally satisfied if they can get a good deal on a car. However, in reality, automotive ethics has an affect on how automobiles are made, what regulations the government puts on them, and their hazard on the environment. Before the engine was invented, life revolved around a much more complicated system of transportation. Much advancement in technology has been made to make the common lifestyle today much easier; a few examples are cellular telephones and onboard navigation systems in automobiles. Cellular telephones and navigation systems have become an everyday item, but nobody looks at the dangers that can have while operating a motor vehicle.
