Education is the most important treasure that a certain student could eternally receive. According to Steve (2014) ; “ Education prepares us for an unknown, uncertain future, and conformity, convention, and a lack of creative thinking and action will not serve us to face the future.” Most parents send their children to good schools not only to learn but also to be able to build up their talents and skills. Some talents are already what we call “inborn” but some are not. When a student developed their talents they would be able to prove everyone their worth. Mostly, a person only performs because they want to bear out something while others just choose to be seated, let go and be contented thought they know they can do better. For some, to be able to perform is a great opportunity that they never stop to seek for something better. Indeed, this only proves that man’s desire to excellence and faultlessness is unending. Their only reason why they wanted to achieve perfection is for them to hear consideration. They also wanted their performance to be recognized and be praised.
Performance is an act of executing or accomplishing things before an viewers. People lived to perform. (Why do People form? , 2009) ; “The reason some people want to perform is that they want to transform themselves. They don't want to be "who they are" but they want to add elements to their self-constitution that can only be defined as "for an audience." For them, to perform is not only about their obsession and desires. Performance isn’t only apprehension on the one who performs but also on the estimation of the audience. There are different kinds of performance. One of these is the class performance. Generally, class performance talks about th...

Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
A look back at the institution of education over the past 20 years will reveal that once upon a time a bachelor’s degree was long since considered the marker of ultimate success, the highest level of achievement that one could make in their lives. In those days, if for some reason you failed to march across the stage on graduation day after an epic, four-year stretch of high tuition, long nights studying, and unrelenting professors that found great joy in riding your back, then you had indeed failed at life.
Through providing a micro-level analysis of the “self” through theatrical dramaturgy, Goffman supplies an adequate account of how modification of the “self” happens via performance. Taking parallel theories and ideas, each author builds upon the arguments of the other and Goffman provides enough detailed examples of social development through performance to satisfy the treatises of Berger and Luckmann’s account. Therefore, the arguments of Goffman and Berger and Luckmann work best when combined, giving us the most insight into the “self.”
For the purposes of this paper, student success is defined as graduation from college, transferring from a community college to a university or 4-year college, or graduation from a 4-year college or university or graduate school. This broad definition accounts for students that have more immediate goals (e.g., obtaining an associate degree in nursing and immediately entering the workforce) and for those that are interested in obtaining a 4-year degree or graduate degree and then become a part of the workforce.
It seems as though the majority of college students these days aren’t looking to further their education because it’s what they really want, they do it to please their parents, to be accepted by society, or because there’s nothing else for them to do (Bird, 372). These expectations have led to students being unhappy and stressed, and have pushed them into a school or a job that they don’t particularly care for.
According to Cambridge Online Dictionary, a performance is the action of entertaining other people by dancing singing, acting, or playing music. In a performance, performer(s) execute their act while audiences watch and critique. Performance of the human body changes depending on various factors such as the format, venue, and dynamics between the performer and spectators. In Anna Deavere Smith’s Never Giving’ Up, which is a live performance, and The Pianist, which is a film, there are differences and similarities on how the performance of the human body alters.
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
College success has become a most desirable goal. However, many students struggle through college. In fact, according to the Website Ask.com, approximately 15 percent of college students receive a degree. Because I’m willing to earn a degree like many other successful students, I find that college is the stepping stone to my dream goals. I know that college is difficult, but I realize that attaining my dream of a college education will require me to understand the benefits of what I’m learning, to prepare for obstacles, to seek advice, and to create effective and reasonable strategies will help me achieve my goals.
... a way for audiences and performers to connect on a closer level. They are both experiencing the surreal, disassociating themselves from the performance taking place. They both become more introspective. The performance becomes a vehicle for self-understanding, metacognition.
Starting, education is immeasurably important because it allows an individual to expand their understanding of the world around them. Naturally, education provides us with an increasing amount of knowledge, which is expanding every day! This education could come from school, work, or experience, and all have monumental value to a person’s success. Schooling provides us with information we may not have previously known and challenges us to succeed, while work allows us to learn new skills and acquire an excellent work ethic, and experience allows us to have first-hand knowledge and also allows us to learn from an emotional standpoint. These are all factors to success that should never be neglected. All in all, education is important to success because it allows us to have a better understanding of the world around us, including ourselves. Secondly, education allows for creativity, which enables success. To present, education sparks a creative candle within a person’s psyche. This candle may be slow burning, or may burn up quickly, but it is there, nonetheless. Creativity has led to the success of many inventions, innovations and discoveries such as the light bulb, motor vehicle, radios, cell phones, and much, much more! As you can see, education sparks creativity, which is unimaginably important in one’s quest for success. Lastly, education gives us the intellectual freedom they need to accomplish goals that others are not able
As a young undergraduate, I attempted to prove myself as a hardworking student by attending my courses focused and well prepared, and conducting my assignments as required. Through my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to participate in several student and voluntary activities. Furthermore, determinant to acquire relevant practical experience, I trained and worked at several establishments applying my theoretical ed...
(Icosilune, 2009) Back in years, Western thinkers believed that they knew excatly what was and what was not a performance. ‘But in fact, there is no historically or culturally fixable limit to what is or is not “performance”. (Schechner, 2006, pg. 2) Schechner explains the difference between four performance categories, which are being, doing, showing doing and explaining showing doing. Being is an existance, just being who we are without any effort to do or pretend something. Doing is any act done in daily lives. Showing doing is an actual performance, when the actors act and represent the reality. And explaining showing doing is the theory, talking about the performances and commenting the art. He brings out the issue of the theory ´is´ or ´as´ performance, and describes how do they distinguish. There are some limits to what ´is´ performance. To qualify a performance as ´is´ performance, it must be said so in historical and social context. Any performance cannot be determined that it ´is´ a performance if it does not refer to specific cultural circumstances. On the other hand, ´as´ performance can be studied round about everything. But ultimately, it can be decided independently, if one considers it ´as´ or ´is´a performance. This leads to another topic, which is...
The academic journey from my childhood up to my ongoing college experience was an important role in defining who I am as an individual. Like any other person, I eventually gained the understanding and importance of essential qualities like time management, work ethic, developing strong mental mindset, and many other things throughout my years of education. Fortunately for me, I became aware of these things much earlier than my peers around me. However, being aware of these things was only a fraction towards success. Over time I’ve realized that the most critical part of success was gaining the discipline and willpower to apply these lessons and concepts.
In today’s world, education has been a primary preoccupation in order to have a bright future or a decent job. The need of high academic achievements such as college and university degrees is now a symbol of success in life. In order to get those symbols, high academic performance is required, and to achieve success, studying is very important. Consequently, developing permanent studying habits is crucial. Furthermore, the use of study habits could develop characteristics that are in demand at the workplace, such as organization, self-discipline, motivation, trust, etc. In fact, such traits could be the difference when it comes to differentiate a leader and a follower; as a result, companies prefer to hire people with those traits. In education, students have different study habits/skills, which depend and vary between individuals. Some prefer readings instead of attending class, other favour taking notes, some might choose to listen, but in fact, most students choose to use multiple skills in order to succeed. This study will focus on college student’ study skills and their relationship with their academic performance, as well as some factors that impede using study habits.
...sionate professors who helped shape the type of teacher I would like to be. They found ways to talk to me in a manner that motivated me to want to improve, all while honoring the work that I have already done. I would like to bring this same moral into my classroom, when a child is motivated, passionate, and self-aware of their needs, strengths, and weaknesses, they can and will push themselves to improve. Students do not solely care about how much knowledge an educator has, but they care about how much these educators truly care. We shouldn't judge a person on how educated they are based only on test scores. The most educated person may not be the most suitable person to teach children. I may lack the test scores, however, I do not lack the passion and motivation needed to be a great teacher. If we cannot celebrate small successes, the final outcome is less weighted.
