Women these days dress however they want because they are free to. There is a big difference in how women dress now then back in the days. They wear the shortest skirts to a shirt that shows the most cleavage. There wasn’t much creativity during the 1900’s because of the fact that women couldn’t wear what they wanted. Now that they can, they will. Women’s fashion has changed from how it was during the World War II to how it is now; due to new regulations after the war, the fashion changes throughout the years after the war, and the individuality we want to the media and the celebrities we see.

During the World War II, women’s fashion was very bland and not flattering. There were many laws restricting against women’s fashion. Women had to wear military jumpsuits the showed that they supported the war and the military. Women also wore suits because the fashion during the wartime was mainly worn my members of the military or their brides. Even civilian clothing mimicked military uniforms. Then, Nylon and wool were mostly used to make the clothing. It was banned to use any large amount of cotton, wood and nylon when designing clothing. All the resources were used to support the war, so all other materials were limited. The nylon and wool were given out in small quantities. Women had to wear a certain length when wearing their skirts or dresses; it always had to be past the shin. The colors of their clothes were restricted as well. The law against fashion ended after the war, around 1945. Some women still kept up with war style because they were so use to it. Fashion began to change over the next years.

Women love to express their emotions of the day through their clothing. Women tend to get bored easily wearing the same style for a while, so they tend to want a change. Changing styles up is not a bad thing. It is a good thing to try new styles and find one you actually like.

Overall, Fashion and how women dress now has changed over the decades. Fashion is very important to a women and being that it was restricted during the war, made women go a little crazy after it was over. Celebrities and the media play a big role in how the new trends and fashion get around. Women love following trends but they also love having their own style. Women’s fashion has definitely become more open and lenient today.
