Unrelatable Siblings: (Dee / Wangero) “Maggie can’t appreciate these quilts… She’d probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use”(Walker 63).In Alice Walker’s “Everyday Use” we contrast two sisters, Dee/Wangero and Maggie.Both of these sisters were raised by the same gentle hearted women,known as Mama or the narrator.Although they are sisters and were brought up in the same household,Maggie and Dee and very different from each other;they think and act independently.Moreover,their contrasting characters serve as symbols to convey the overall theme of the story.
