Turtles are reptiles that come in all different shapes and sizes. There are plenty of types of turtles like the Box Turtle. Turtles are popular pets that make great pets. Many turtle species are endangered. Their habitat such as their diet is very important for any turtle to survive. They can die if they are not fed the right, healthy food. It is very important what food the turtle eats. There a variety of foods that people can feed to their pet turtles. Different types of food that have different types of vitamins and nutrients such as calcium. Calcium is very important for the turtles. The food given to two turtles changed their behavior over the two weeks. Turtles have existed for a very long time. They have existed for about 215 million years. Turtles have been alive a lot longer than mammals, crocodiles, birds, snakes and lizards. They can live up to about 200 years but most live until they are in their mid 70s. Turtles have a hard shell that protects them like a shield. This upper shell is called a carapace. The lower shell called a ‘plastron. The shell is attached to their spine and lower ribcage. It is different from other animal’s shells like the crab. The turtle’s shell is permanent, it cannot come off. A turtle’s shell makes them special and unique animals. The shell of a turtle protects them from harm. Many people believe that the shell has helped turtles survive for million of years. The top part of the shell is called the carapase. The bottom part is called plastron. The shell has sixty bones that are all together. Because turtles have so many bones on the shell, it is very important to feed them a healthy diet and give them a lot of calcium and protein. This will make them strong and healthy. Some turtles can eat w... ... middle of paper ... ...ood healthy food that does not have any pesticides. When turtles are young they should be fed more than adult turtles. In conclusion, turtles are reptiles. They are endangered species. This is why it is so important to feed turtles a healthy diet so that they survive. They can die if they are not fed the right, healthy food. It is very important what food the turtle eats. Giving turtles healthy food and more calcium can affect the behavior of pet turtles. This is why they need to have a balance diet of protein, calcium and vitamins. Calcium and protein should be what they mostly eat because it it is the most important nutrient for turtles. The calcium and protein can help the shell become strong especially cause they need their shell to survive. When they don’t get fed the way they want they go on a hunger strike. They could go a long time without eating foods.
The first notable example of the turtle’s obstacles is shown in a simile. Ryan portrays the turtle’s movement as “graceless, like dragging/ a packing-case places” (5-6). When one is struggling to move a heavy package, one usually starts to push or pull it slowly; one is using all his strength to move it, yet the package barely moves. The lethargic movement of moving the package is similar to the slowness of the turtle. This slowness is an obstacle because it prevents the turtle from travelling far distances and escaping from predators. Nevertheless, the fact that the turtle perseveres through this struggle shows that she is
Betrayal is being disloyal to others and even oneself, therefore betrayal can cause many emotional fallouts and baggage within relationships. In the story, The World on the Turtle's Back, betrayal is a huge factor in how the story plays out, as it is in the song The Letter by Kehlani, Genesis 4:1-16, and Matthew 26:14-16 . Three ways in which betrayal is portrayed in the story, the song, and the Bible is by the actions people take to one another, disconnections in relationships that lead to betrayal, and emotional baggage.
The turtle must deal with a deadly drought that poses a threat to its life. In the 1930’s Dust Bowl, the Midwest is crippled by series of dust storms that damage the agricultural production of America’s “Breadbasket.” The farmer families migrated west towards California to flee the dry and desolate region. The turtle symbolically does this by trying to get to the other side of the road and relocate to a new area that has a region with more lush vegetation. This determination to move on to a new home is shown on page 20 where Steinbeck describes the turtle, “As the embankment grew steeper and steeper, the more frantic were the efforts of the land turtle” (Steinbeck 20). The turtle
Throughout the animal kingdom, adaptations take place continuously and even the smallest of changes can leave a significant impact. Examples can be seen within any plant or animal. One example would include sea turtles, specifically, the Loggerhead Turtles. These turtles are native to the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans as well as the Mediterranean Sea (Deurmit L 2007). They thrive in either temperate or tropical climates and can live in a myriad of biomes (Deurmit L 2007). These biomes include the pelagic, reef, coastal, and brackish water (Deurmit L 2007). Loggerhead turtles are omnivores and can eat anything from insects to aquatic crustaceans, to macro algae (Deurmit L 2007). According to Deurmit (2007) Caretta caretta is classified into Animalia Kingdom, Chordata Phylum, Vertebrata Subphylum, Reptilian Class, Testudines’ Order,
The poem Mark O’Connor wrote “Turtles Hatching” at a time in his life when was closely studying nature.
Whenever Brian needed food he had found a snapping turtle that laid eggs by the lake he was near. Some quotes from this is on page 94, “...sea turtles that came up on beaches and laid their eggs in the sand.” “Maybe a snapping turtle.” Another quote is on page 96, “The second egg was easier, and by the third one, he had no trouble at all-it just slid down.” I would not survive in this place, even if it meant I would have to eat eggs from a turtle. I don’t like slimy things whatsoever. Nothing would make me change my mind about eating eggs. That’s another reason why I wouldn’t survive in the wilderness
Alligators are very dangerous animals to humans. Alligator attacks occur around seven times a year, but few are lethal. When people feed them, alligators learn not to be afraid of humans. This causes more alligator attacks and alligators to become more aggressive with humans. Ninety percent of all alligator attacks are caused from people feeding alligators. (langly,2005)
Dragons What’s the first thing people think when they hear the word “dragon?” Most Americans and Europeans probably envision a huge, scaly green beast, one that sits on a hoard of golden treasures and breathes fire. Asians are more likely to think of a benevolent snake-like creature, one that controls rains and rivers. And some people will think of the dragons in movies, or in books, which come in innumerable shapes, sizes, and dispositions.
On Tuesday, March 21, 2017, I had the at most pleasure of attending the Mud Turtle Quintet at the Stafford Center for Excellence for Visual and Performing at the recital hall. The quintet consists of instruments ranging from acoustic and electric guitar, both played by Marc Rosenberg; viola, played by Faith Jones; violin one played by Rachel Shepard; violin two played by Melanie Riordan; and cello, by native Ukraine, cellist Vyacheslav Dobrushkin. The band played unique and emotionally captivating combinations of modern Afro-Cuban or Latin American music for string quartet and guitar
Loggerhead turtles can also add to the biodiversity of the waters it is in. Because they are constantly migrating and in contact with species and plants, loggerhead turtles end up carrying life on their shells. One loggerhead shell can contain 100 species of living animals and
Frogs are needed for everyday life. They are part of pond life. Each animal is important because even in the pond, there is a food chain. Frogs are amphibians, animals that spend half of their lives under water, and remainder on land. The first frog appeared in the early Jurassic period about 200 million years ago.
Frogs are amphibians in the order Anura. The order Anura is broken down into 22 different families of frogs and toads. Although they belong to the same order, frogs and toads are different in a lot of ways. Some of the more distinct differences are their skin and where they live. Frogs usually have smooth moist skin and toads usually have dry watery looking skin. Frogs spend most of their lives in or near water and toads spend more time on land. Amphibian means "double life." Frogs and toads each have two parts to their lives: when they live on water and when they live land. A frog's life starts in the water when it is hatched from an egg as a tadpole. A tadpole looks very different from an adult frog. A tadpole has a tail, no limbs, and breathes through gills. After a while the tadpole goes through metamorphosis. During the change the frog grows limbs, the tail disappears, it uses lungs to breathe, and it doesn't have to live in water anymore. As a tadpole, the frog feeds mostly on vegetation. The tadpoles have a small rasping mouth suited especially for scraping algea from the bottom of ponds. Depending on the species, it can take a few weeks to a year or more for the tadpoles to become fully grown. Not all frogs hatch as tadpoles. Some species of frogs hatch as froglets. Froglets look just like adult frogs but are a lot smaller. Froglets don't go through a metamophosis. Most species that hatch as froglets are found in dry places. Frogs who live in dry places where rains are seasonal have to grow up quickly because a tadpole will die if their temporary pond dries up. Adult frogs can live in water or on land, but it always needs to be near water so its respiratory organs don't dry out.
It is no coincidence that well fed dogs are usually the happiest and healthiest dogs. Just like people, dogs need to eat a well balanced diet to maintain their health and live long, active lives. Dog nutrition is very similar to human nutrition, but dogs are not people. They are unique animals with dietary needs based on centuries of evolution. While dogs are more omnivorous than pure carnivores like cats, they are not true omnivores like human beings. They evolved from wolves, so they tend to do best on meat based diets.
