this is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.
This is for the guys who escort their drunk, bewildered female friends back from parties and never take advantage once they’re at her door, for the guys who accompany girls to bars as buffers against the rest of the creepy male population, for the guys who know a girl is fishing for compliments but give them out anyway, for the guys who always play by the rules in a game where the rules favor cheaters, for the guys who are accredited as boyfriend material but somehow don’t end up being boyfriends, for all the nice guys who are overlooked, underestimated, and unappreciated, for all the nice guys who are manipulated, misled, and unjustly abandoned, this is for you. This is for that time she left 40 urgent messages on your cell phone, and when you called her back, she spent three hours painstakingly dissecting two sentences her boyfriend said to her over dinner. And even though you thought her boyfriend was a chump and a jerk, you assured her that it was all ok and she shouldn’t worry about it. This is for that time she interrupted the best killing spree you’d ever orchestrated in GTA3 to rant about a rumor that romantically linked her and the guy she thinks is the most repulsive person in the world. And even though you thought it was immature and you had nothing against the guy, you paused the game for two hours and helped her concoct a counter-rumor to spread around the floor.
In CrimJ 100 we were talking a lot about how to court system works and the different severities of sentences. I was asked to watch the movie A Few Good Men, I was able to watch it on Popcorn time. The purpose of watching this movie was so I could relate what I was learning in class to this movie. The movie is about two marines; LCcl Harold and PFC Downie were ordered a code red on a fellow marine that was requesting to leave his company. The Commanding Officer Nathan Jessep ordered the code red to “train” the marine to get use to the conditions in Cuba. The code red back fired on the commander when Santiago died from the code red. The commander tried to stay under the radar and erase his name from getting tracked back to him. The protagonist Lt. Daniel Kaffee has to prove the Lt. Kendrick called the code red on Santiago. Another main character in this film is Lt. Cdr. Galloway, she is PFC Downie’s attorney for this case. There are many themes that we have covered in class that occur in the movie. This is great representation of how a real court case would play out. The movie showcase key themes, such as Plea bargains, Responsibilities of the Criminal Defence Attorneys, Responsibilities of the Procsector, Bringing in a witness, and also showcases judges in a courtroom scenario.
As young men grow up, they would generally learn and integrate within a box of codes which shows them how to be a man, known as the Guy Code. The Guy Code is a set of rules prevalently applied among men groups about how a man behaves with other men and his girlfriend. It mainly teaches guys to be dominant, aggressive and fearless. In Michael Kimmel’s “ Bros Before Hos: The Guy Code”, he indicates that men disguise their emotions and inner beings to be like a man, particularly among their peers. It imposes a consciousness that timidity is not a characteristic that men should have.
Roles that have traditionally belonged to that of a woman such as spending too much time in the bathroom to get ready and being ‘high-maintenance’, seems to have been reversed (culturally?), and can now be applied to the opposite sex.
Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you again for being here today, for the wonderful gifts, for your good wishes and most of all for your friendship now and in the future. Here's to a wonderful evening.
Next, the tone of this story is a lot more laid back than the typical stories I am use to reading. Most stories I have ever read have never used the word “dude” in it and they never had such a casual tone. I too believe that everyone should show each other respect in anything that they do, because it’s
I am calling forth all the fuck boys of society. You have deemed yourself unfit for society, which makes you obsolete. You are useless to society because you constantly flirt, fornicate with different women, set double standards, cheat, the list goes on and on. Your group of people pose no type of resistance. Females have been waiting for the day that your kind would be eliminated, so they can find a good guy.
Once I beat the crap out of a few boys, then the girls would back away. Unfortunately, the crowd of boys that were always lined up trying to get my attention had more than doubled. How did I know the guys in the boxing club were a bunch of assholes and I had done the boys a favor? Now they wanted to take me out on dates to show their appreciation. I’m glad I’d finally gotten over my jealousy with Amie is having bigger boobs than mine and we had rekindled our friendship as if we never had a fight over the same boy.
One gloomy day in October, Shaquan O’ Kelly went to a speed dating intervention at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, West Virginia. He wasn’t very enthusiastic about the intervention, because most of the women were just looking for child support money. Near the end of the intervention, he became very sad and doubtful about finding a girlfriend. When the last person came Shaquan knew she was the one…
Always expecting great things in me and making me laugh at dumb memories we had. Thanks for being the Batman to my Robin. To my cousin Filemon, thanks for being my best friend, my partner in crime since birth. Thank you for always being there for me and listening to me even when we annoy each other. Thanks for always sharing a birthday cake with me and protecting me. Thanks for all those memories we share like you always burning your food in culinary and making 2 own goals in varsity soccer. I don't know what's going to happen after we part ways for college but I wish you the best! To the three people who recently come into my life but I feel like I have known you for years. Thank you, Jordan, Brandi, and Trey for being my small circle that I can trust and know you'll stay in my life no matter how far apart we become after graduation. Thanks for all the memories and laughs we share and helping me discover new things in life. You guys have impacted my life so much and I wouldn't trade you guys for the world no matter how many times we might have our argument here and there we still come back to each
... got off my shift, they told me what you did at the dinner. I just wanted to thank you.” the words seemed heart felt enough, giving her a nod a grin would slowly creep it’s way across my lips. “Don’t worry about it, some people give shit and some people take it…Then you’ve got people like me who just clean it all up afterwards.” she would move closer, gripping me around the neck and kissing my lips softly. “You didn’t have to do it though, most wouldn’t have.” she smiled and backed away “Thank you..” would be the last words she said to me before disappearing into the darkness of the parking lot. Still a bit confused by the kiss I just shut the door, locking it once again and moved to the bed. Tucking the handgun beneath the pillow I would lay there a few moments before closing my eye’s and drifting of, maybe the nightmares wont find me tonight.
The title may sound self-explanatory, but it’s not. This just showcases how you can give your all to someone or something, and still not be earning the respect you want, need and deserve. In this world, I’ve come to the realization that not everyone Is helpful, or would even want to be a part of your life. That’s their loss because they will be the ones needing help in the long run, while you have your life together, masking in the sun’s glory. As I grew up, the people I used to call my friends, I no longer did. “somebody real is hard to find, somebody worth all your time.” This is true for me, after having to grow up not being a hue socialite, and trying to find friends who were there because they wanted to be instead of trying to mooch off me was hard. I feel just like any other person; I just want someone to be 100% honest and will never change for the worst. Someone who won’t turn behind my back and treat me as if I never meant anything to them. The very person who will be against the old saying “some people are here for a season, while others are here for a reason.
Ninth grade was now several months underway, and my complete lack of social mobility had caused both my class participation and friendships to dwindle. My peers dubbed me the “weird kid in class”, and what could I do about it? After all, I couldn’t simply have confronted people and befriended them, as my bashful nature prevented me from doing so. This was especially clear in my communications with girls, as I would often be rendered speechless by fear of hypothetical rejection. One day, however, the very day the beauty and I first swapped glances, I promised myself I would try being more socially active, to amass the courage to one day be with a girl or her caliber, and that I would go out of my way to do things I otherwise would never have had the courage to
The three articles I read for this debate measured emotional intelligence abilities for students in higher levels of education, yet it does not seem that age is a deciding factor of emotional intelligence towards academic achievement. Throughout the articles, they explain the importance of educators implementing stress-management and emotional coping skills into their daily schedules for students. It seems that students who have a higher emotional intelligence will perform better in school which is why emotional skills should be taught in both lower and higher levels of education. Different factors can contribute to people’s low and high emotional intelligence levels such as: self-esteem, interpersonal/intrapersonal abilities, and support systems.
Allow me to introduce myself I go by the name of CJ. I’m your average teen with an average life but with a crazy story. It all started one scorching hot morning in late August. I met up with a girl named Mary Doe, who was very special because she was my girl. I first met her in elementary school on the playground and we started off hating each other but throughout elementary and middle school we always had the same classes together until we got to high school where it dawned on me I really loved her and it sucked not being able to see her as often again. I musterd up some confidence and asked her out Freshman year and we have been a unit up until even now in our last year of high school we were so close, at least until we are by ourselves. We argue and fight two male bucks, constantly bumping heads. This girl was also one interesting girl. She had long golden hair that shined as brighter than the sun at high noon. She had long thin legs, crystal blue eyes, and caramel colored skin. She’s everything that I do and don’t want in life so she is like my contradiction but unfortunately I love her.
I wish that I wasn’t so naive because Brandon had stopped talking to me and was ignoring me two weeks after we started dating. I was crushed because I was in love, I had thought that he didn’t want to be with me any more. When he said that we needed to talk, he asked me what my problem was, so I had told him that he was ignoring me. Brandon said, “I didn’t realize that I was,” he apologized, for a few months’ things were
