History of Tornadoes
A tornado is something that rarely occurs, usually only occurring in 1% of thunder storms. A tornado is classified as a small swinging column of air in the shape of a funnel. A funnel cloud will eventually become a tornado when it touches the ground. For a tornado to occur there has to be a large amount of strange environmental conditions. There will have to be a trigger such as a cold front as well as a low level of moisture in the atmosphere. Tornadoes are very powerful so you wouldn’t want to be stuck in the middle of one. The winds are very strong, reaching between 40 to over 300 miles per hour, according to the Fujita scale. The winds turn in height and will always turn in a clockwise form. Tornadoes can also reach a maximum of one mile high and can stretch out to a length of 50 feet long.
Where They Occur
Tornadoes usually occur in the southern states and also the northern states. When tornadoes happen in the southern states they will usually occur in the early to late spring. Colder air will move into the southern states for tornadoes to often happen in these months. When tornadoes will happen in the northern states they will usually occur in the summer time. They will usually happen in the summer time because air would move up north so it would be very hot and tornadoes would be at a very high peak. The southern states that will usually get the most tornadoes are Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. While the northern states that will get the most is Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Missouri. The tornadoes will usually occur anywhere from four in the afternoon to eight at night. Areas that get the most tornadoes are called Tornado Valley. There has been over hundreds of eart...

...will usually occur in the spring to summer time but this is something that can occur at anytime of the year. When ever a tornado will happen there is no way that you are 100% safe when you are stuck inside your house. A tornado is something that can cause death but that is highly unlikely to happen. When a tornado is happening the worst thing you could possibly do is open up the windows. This will allow all of the air to come in, and the objects in your house will be going all over the place. Most of tornadoes that occur will not be extremely dangerous and the winds will be less than 100 miles per hour. When tornadoes are very strong they will last for more than 20 minutes and the winds will be over hundreds of miles per hour. There is unlikely for a tornado to be violent. These winds can reach up to 300 miles per hour and the tornado can go for over an hour.
“Satire is the use of humor, irony, or exaggeration to expose and criticize people's stupidity”. In the article from a mock press release, "The Onion", represents a new product called “MagnaSoles” which is described as the cheapest way out and is devoted to satirize the audience in order to emphasize techniques that companies use to get a hold of their consumers. The satire the Onion article uses illustrates how people are unable to properly judge their own flaws causing them to be gullible and easily deceived to what is in front of their eyes, evidenced by the pseudoscience the article mentions and the deceptive consumer testimonials.
Los Vendidos means the sell-outs. All the characters in the play sold-out at some point during the play. The characters sold out both their races and their way of life. I would say that the person who sold out the most was the Mexican-American because he sold-out both his Mexican, his American heritage and way of life. He wanted to be perfect, so when he found that the Americans and the Mexicans had their flaws he sold them out. He now has to search for a new and perfect race to identify with.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, a tornado is a rotating column of air accompanied by a funnel shaped downward extension of a cumulonimbus cloud and having a vortex several hundred yards in diameter whirling destructively at speeds of up to three hundred miles per hour. There are six classifications of tornadoes, which are measured on what is known as the Fujita Scale. These tornadoes range from an F0 to an F5, which is the most devastating of all. Abnormal warm, humid, and oppressive weather usually precede the formation of a tornado. Records of American tornadoes date back to 1804 and have been known to occur in every state of the United States.

Luis Valdez wrote “Los Vendidos” in order to address his view of the Mexican culture and in reference to the prejudices that surrounded him. The play defines four versions of Mexican men, shop owner Honest Sancho is trying to sell to a Secretary in Governor Reagan’s political office. The buildup of characters: The Farmworker, Johnny Pachuco, The Revolucionario, and the Mexican-American, symbolizes an evolution of what society deems the “ideal” Mexican-American should be. “Los Vendidos” translates to "The Sold Ones" or "The Sellouts” which is a solid interpretation of Valdez’s opinion on Mexican’s conformity to the American culture. Valdez creates a distinct characterization of all four models, Miss Jimenez, and Honest Sancho with snarky humor and stereotypes in order portray the front of exactly who is running the show in the Used Mexican Lot and Mexican Curio Shop.
Tornadoes are “violent windstorms that take the form of a rotating column of air or vortex that extends downward from a cumulonimbus cloud” as Tarbuck and Lutgens (2012) explain.

I would like to start out by what we know about tornados and outbreaks, and what is said to be the cause of such catastrophic events, such as the outbreak that occurred November 17th in the Midwestern, portion of the United States. Tornado outbreaks occur when there are multiple tornados that are said to be produced by the same weather system. The classification of an outbreak can vary depending on interpretation. It is said that in order to be classified as a “tornado outbreak” there must be a certain number of tornados that touch down. It is said that the US has the most tornados of any country. This can be attributed the location with in the mid latitude. The Rocky Mountains, have the ability to block moisture and “buckle” the atmospheric flow; thus forcing a lot of dry air at mid-levels of the troposphere, due to downslope winds. While the Rockies are forming a “dry-line” the Gulf of Mexico on the other hand contributes a lot of low level moisture. This mixture of warm air and cold air is to blame for the large number of tornados that form in the US. These events are most prevalent in the Midwestern and Southeastern United States, along with the Great Plains also known as (tornado alley) although some of these systems have been known to move as far North as Canada. The tornado outbreak that took place on the 17th of November is said to have been the one of the largest outbreaks to have occurred in eight years. This particular storm spawned a total of 72 tornados that swept through seven states, according to the National Weather Service. This outbreak is being considered the fourth largest outbreak of its kind, especially this time of year.
A tornado is a type of vortex. A vortex is essentially a rotating funnel that occurs from downdrafts that pull a medium, such as air or water, downward. Tornadoes are vortexes, and vortexes happen in day to day life, even if you don’t live in Tornado Alley. An everyday example of a vortex is when you pull the drain of a bathtub or sink and a rotating whirlpool occurs. This is a vortex. Tornadoes occur under this same principle, but with air in thunderstorms instead of water in a bathtub.
Latin America is rich with stories and legends. Many are said to have been originated from the time of the Conquistadors or the indigenous era. One story or legend that has surpass all other folklore and the times, in all parts of Latin America, is that of “the weeping woman” or best known as “La Llorona”. Her sad story is said to have originated in a small town in Mexico. It was said that in this small humble town, there lived an enchanting young girl. She was by far the most beautiful young girl in all the nearby villages. Just as her beauty was recognized through out all Mexico so to was her name. The older Maria got, her beauty seem to increase and sparkle like priceless rubies and gems. But unfortunately her heart was black and full of pride. No man was suitable and they were beneath her beauty to even be glanced by her eyes. Until one day there rode into town a dashing young stallion of a man riding on his half wild horse. Some say that he claimed to say “He thought it wasn't manly to ride a horse if it wasn't half wild”. http://www.literacynet.org/lp/hperspectives/llorona.html. This young man was not just handsome but wealthy and played the guitar while singing with his majestic voice. In one glance, Maria knew that this was the man she would marry. She didn’t make it easy for him to woo her. This young man would serenade beautiful melodies out side her window and present her with gifts from afar. Maria would ignore every thing the young man did to get her attention. Finally this young man conquered her love and it wasn’t long before they both got engaged and married. Years went by and Maria bore him two kids. This ...
A tornado requires some basic ingredients to come together. First, energy in the form of warm, moist air must exist to feed thunder storms. Second, there must be a top layer of hot, dry air called a cap. This air acts like a lid on a simmering pot, holding in the warm air that’s accumulating in the atmosphere below until the storm’s ready to burst. Last, there has to be rotating winds speeding in oppositedirections at two different levels in the atmosphere, a phenomenon called wind shear, can cause the storms to rotate. Tornado alley is perfectly situated to meet these requirements. (1)
1. According to the USA Today Tornado Information website, a tornado is a "violently rotating column of air in contact with the ground and pendant from a thunderstorm." Therefore, thunderstorms are the first step in the creation of a tornado.
