In one, a specimen-creating brute robs a pelican child’s life and her guardian trying to bring her back to life. In the other, a prince learns the value of his frog-turned-princess and sets out on a quest to find her. Joy Williams’s Baba Iaga and the Pelican Child and Alexander Afanasev’s The Frog Princess are both critical facets of the fairy tale genre. While initially it may seem that Williams preserved no elements from Afanasev’s tale, upon a closer glance, it is evident that the two tales’ similarities outnumber their differences. By incorporating a generous portion of the original story into his, Williams’s version brings forth an innovative arrangement of classic and new. As a result, William’s tale introduces features to the tale that mirror everyday life lessons while simultaneously maintaining qualities that are reflective of the definitional aspects of the fairy tale genre.
The story of Princess Ka’iulani is remembered as a tragic one, she passed away young and frail, and never was able to fulfill her duties as Hawaii’s next ruling queen. What many people have never known, is the warrior that hid behind her beautiful physique. She was a fighter; for her country, people, and the truth. Within her short 23 years, Princess Kaiulani became Hawaii's last hope to save the monarchy that had existed for so long. Sadly, she did not accomplish this feat, and her heroism and efforts have either been overlooked or forgotten. To be knowledgeable of her childhood, teenage life, and final years is the least that can be done out of respect for this great Hawaiian Princess.

Over the years, Disney has presented many movies to their audience—most having a Princess as the protagonist. These movies became a babysitter for most parents in the early stages of their child’s life. Most people found these movies as relatively harmless. The obvious assumption about the Disney Princesses is that they only desire true love since almost every movie ends in romance. Parents just viewed these movies as romantic movies on a child’s level. However, these movies were not solely intended for an audience of an age that can be counted on both hands. They were intended to speak to “an intelligent and active audience” (Sumera 40). However, there are many people who disagree with the ways of the Disney Princess movies. The disagreements lie within the portrayal of women gender roles in these movies. It is argued that Disney portrays women as a being nurturing individuals without any control over their identity. The women are unable to think for themselves, because they are uneducated, and they are quick to fall in love with the first man that pays them any attention. However, this is not completely true. The people that are against the portrayal of women in the Disney movies are failing to recognize the underlying concepts in these movies. For example, Belle, in Beauty and the Beast, was well educated, Mulan went to war despite the consequences, and Merida, in Brave, stood up to her mother in refusal to marry. The Disney Princesses desired intelligence, bravery, strength, and independence—not true love’s kiss.
The witch told her she was wrong but Coraline threw her cat of Wybee to her head. Suddenly this dimension started to disappear. The floors turned into a spider web were they both fell. The witch had no eyes now since the cat taked them off. Coraline climbed to the door and the witch followed her. When she got to the door she closed the door locked, disappeared the key and looked for her parents. When her parents came back she talked to them about the garden they had and if they could plant some tulips in it. They invited everyone they knew and had a happily ever after.
Disney has been greatly known for Mickey Mouse, but Disney Pictures is also known for their Disney Princesses. From their first production in 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to their most recent production in 2013 Frozen. It's been over 75 years, and Disney is still making princesses films to this day in age. If you could name three princesses out of the top of your head, who would you pick? I would say Snow White, Cinderella, and Ariel are the most known princesses because of all the years they've been playing. These are films from an earlier time, but not everyone knows all the princess films that have been playing this century.
Once upon a time, in a world where Mermaids and magic isn’t just a fairy tale, the story of the Mermaid who has been rescued from the sea, and her aquarium carer is held.
With my busy summer, I made new friends and was able to travel to some new places! I played on an AAU summer basketball where I met new friends and made some pretty unforgettable memories. We traveled to places like Minneapolis and we even played in a tournament in Kansas City! Although basketball took up a huge part of my summer, the rest of it was almost always busy with work. I put up fence with Seth Olson and Eli Livermont
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Caroline. She had blonde, wavy hair that stopped just below her shoulders, blue eyes, and a natural blush that lightened up her whole face. However, Caroline was not just a princess, but also a witch. She came from a strong and powerful witch line named the Shapiro witches. Caroline’s mother, Rebekah, was the queen of Lokiville and was a witch, unlike King Stefan. When Caroline turned thirteen, she started to gain her powers. Queen Rebekah helped control her powers and showed her a few easy spells from her Grimoire (a book of spells that witches use). As the years went by Caroline was almost as strong as her mother and could do difficult spells.
Many people love to see and read fairy tales and never give it a second thought to where they originated from. Or some people do not even know that their favorite disney princess movie really was not created by Walt Disney himself. A lot of the time, a lot of movies, books, etc., are taken from stories that were written long ago and twisted to satisfy the person creating a new version of a tale. Like many famous tales, Rapunzel first originated or was written in 1812 by the Grimm Brothers. The Grimm brothers were inspired by earlier tales similar to Rapunzel, but the story plot was the first of its kind. Rapunzel has been made into hit movies, tv shows, tales, poems, name anything, it has been done. There are four versions of Rapunzel that
... her true self begins to come out for the first time in months. She starts talking and acting like the flower girl she used to be instead of Eliza, the girl Higgins made her.
In the eyes of a child, there is joy, there is laughter. But as time ages us, as soon as we flowered and became grown-ups the child inside us all fades that we forget that once, we were a child.
The fictional movie Frozen is based on the lives of Anna and Elsa, two sisters who are also princesses. Frozen received many prestigious awards in the film community, such as Academy Awards and Golden Globes. The fact that Frozen proved to be such an adored and acclaimed movie did not come as a surprise to me. After watching Frozen with my younger daughter, it quickly became one of my favorite Disney movies due in part to the positive messages it taught throughout the movie.
