Steven Spielberg is one of the most well known and most accomplished directors in Hollywood. He is best known for movies such as Saving Private Ryan, E.T. : The Extra- Terrestrial and Jurassic Park. His film Schindler's List won him two Golden Globes for Best Director and Best Picture. He is also known for protecting human rights. Spielberg abandoned the National Advisory Board of Boy Scouts of America because the group disproved of homosexuals.
Steven Spielberg was born on December 18, 1947 in Cincinnati Ohio, and spent most of his childhood in Haddon Township, New Jersey. As a baby, Steven's family would say he was different or unusual. When he was eight Steven saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and he became terrified of everything he saw (Rubin 11). He attempted to get rid of his fear by scaring his younger sisters. He tortured them by telling them horrifying stories, and attacking them.
At the age of ten, Steven and his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona because of his father's job. Spielberg considers Arizona his home because according to Steven ,""For a kid, home is where you have your first kiss; it's where you do your worst stuff and get your best grades"". Arnold took Steven to see a meteor shower which later inspired him to create one of his first movies, Firelight. Steven's father, Arnold, would film family trips, and Steven would criticize his father's home movies (Rubin 15). Arnold then gave him the 8mm Brownie camera to film with. He always tried and never gave up. in his movies he had some failures but he had to overcome them. like in planet of the apes he overcame kind of overcame his fear of chimpanzees. his movies are important to the world because families like to enjoy his movies.
