The Roaring 20s
U.S History Research Paper

The Roaring 20's was era in which America call it many name such as the “The Jazz Age”, “Harlem Renaissance”, “The Age of Intolerance”, “The Age of Wonderful Nonsense” and many more titles. It a time where America has dramatic social and political changes for its citizens. Where America and its peoples was rumbustious and carefree from the possibilities changes. But, however, even if it creates new changes for America, not all of it was good.
A example of the negative changes during this time is the Red Scare during the roaring twenties was one when it refers to the fear of Communism in the U.S. just before and during the 1920s. In which 150,000 anarchists form 0.1 percent of the population. Most Americans were scare by communist when they overthrow the royal family in Russia before, in 1917, and murdered them. During the 1919s, there was a series of explosion to thwart a campaign against communist. On New Year’s Day, 1920, over 6000 people was arrested and put in prison. It started an immigration law called the National Origins Act of 1924, which states “set immigration quotas that excluded some people in favor of others” meaning to prefer a certain originated people against another.
Another change that was great but terrifying was the new version Ku Klux Klan arouse in the early 1920's. The Ku Klux Klan was an organization that greatly enforce and strongly believe in white superiority, white nationalism, and anti-immigration and express it through terrorism. Their targets Roman Catholics, Jews, African Americans, foreigners or any other cultural beings beside or differ of their own. During the time, it adapted more in a modern bus...

...e radio was invented during the era and found its way into broadcasting to every home in America. The era introduced the first movie made with sound, The Jazz Singer, which later makes movies more popular in demanding.
Tragically, the Roaring 20s ended when the infamous stock market crash on October 24, 1929 and that of the Great Depression would follow, leaving an ironic term that the era of despair would follow the era of happiness. The Roaring 20s was an era in which the life of America was in full of lively changes but crumple into the dark despair of the Great Depression.
