High school is a very important time because it is when students begin to plan their life. I have started to think about my options and where they will take me in life. I am striving to have the life I have always dreamed about. I want to be able to look back on my life and believe it was successful. I plan on being a psychiatrist and living in Florida by the time I am thirty. I know that there is a lot of work needed to achieve my goals, but I believe with careful planning I can do whatever I would like.
To start off planning my life, I need to determine which college I would prefer attending. My first choice is Michigan State University. To become a psychiatrist, a student needs to attend medical school for eight years and then focus on psychiatry in residency for four years (Psychiatrists: Summary). After schooling, most psychiatrists start their own practice. This is my plan for after college and I hope I can stay on this pathway.
Michigan State University is located in East Lansing, Michigan. There are approximately 50,000 students that attend MSU (MSU). The middle 50% of students that go to MSU had a GPA between 3.4 and 3.8 and an ACT score between 23 and 28(MSU). It will cost me about 21,000 dollars a year (MSU). The campus has the MSU Museum, the Abrams Planetarium, and the Horticulture Gardens. I believe that if I continue to be successful in high school, I will be able to be accepted into Michigan State University.

I can relate a lot to the desires he states are necessary to be a good psychiatrist. I will follow his advice, and I hope that I can achieve my dreams.
High school is a very important time because it is when students prepare their plans for the future. I have begun to consider my options and the path that each one will lead me down. No matter where I end up, I know I will be happy with the choices I have made. I know I will be able to look back on my life and believe it was successful. My dream plan is to become a psychiatrist and live in Florida. I expect a lot of hard work, but I know I will be able to live my life however I want.
I firmly believe that I would be a perfect fit for the Psychiatry residency because of my dedication, experience , passion, knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills. Your residency offers many experiences, which I am looking for in a program including a variety of rotation opportunities, teaching and research experience, and a challenging environment where I can advance my skills as a Psychiatrist. I am confident that my diverse background in medicine coupled with extensive field experience in public health and clinical research will enable me to succeed in the program and excel in my career as a
“To study the abnormal is the best way to study the normal” (William James). Psychiatrists never give up on any of their patients and always help anyone who asks for it. Psychiatrists have a never ending work schedule. Sometimes their patients call them even without an appointment because they are really struggling and they have to go talk to them. Psychiatrists also have to get at least eight years of school and an additional three or more years of an internship (“Career Information Center” 142- 43) . Psychiatrist must also have good communication skills. If they do not then their patient will feel like they do not care about them and they are not listening and the psychiatrists will be putting even more pain and pressure on them (Social Skills Training) . Even though psychiatrists must go through many years of school and training, all of their hard work is pays off knowing that they help people every day.
The educations attained by each type of professional are very different, in that a psychiatrist is an actual medical doctor. Psychologists can surely have a doctorate degree, likely in Psychology, but are not medical doctors. Consider a professor at a university to receives a PhD (doctorate of Philosophy) in Mathematics. Their title would then become “doctor”, but that does not mean they are able to actually practice medicine. The same rings true with psychologists. These professionals have studied for many years, even sometimes attaining their PhD, they also must complete some form of internship through a physicians office or hospital. Psychiatrists, on the other hand, have a far more extensive educational background. They not only must attend medical school, they will have to attend at least a year of internship and at least three years of medical
(“A graduate degree is a must for every psychologist; a bachelor’s degree in a particular field of expertise to be precise is mandatory. People who want to become school psychologists have to earn special degrees by completing three years of graduate school and a one year internship”).
I wanted to be in a challenging field of medicine which is unique, rewarding and can truly make a difference in someone’s life. I found psychiatry closely matching my interests and abilities. My passion for Psychiatry was further strengthened by my personal experiences in my family having both Depression and Alcohol Dependence. I observed why and how different situations and stressors make people behave the way they do. My greatest asset is that I am an excellent listener with good communication skills and these qualities are the cornerstone things which lay the foundation of a Psychiatrist.
Why would anyone in this world want to become a psychiatrist? To me I think
Throughout history, women have had to fight for equality with men in the world. Today sexism continues to be a problem and women are still not completely treated the same way men are. Sexism is defined as discrimination or devaluation based on a person's sex (“Sexism-Dictionary.com”). Recently, the music industry shows sexism towards female artists. I envision high school as an essential stepping stone for everyone. The era where every individual lacks the complete confidence in defining who they are or what they want to be. The four years of high school was the moment and opportunity to seek the interests that stood out to me the most. The experiences you make and the people you associate with are a crucial part of finding yourself.
