Globalization is _______ and thus has the potential to do a lot good and to bring prosperity to many people around the globe. However, its management brings about social fragmentation that leads to violence and corruption, and creates opportunities for transnational criminal organizations to arise and to remain in business. An example of such organization is the Pink Panthers who according to the Interpol is a group behind armed robberies in East Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States. They are believed to have “carried out robberies worth in excess of EUR 330 million since 1999. Hundreds of suspects are linked to more than 340 robberies in 35 countries” (Interpol). In 2013 for instance, in Cannes, France, the Pink Panthers in less than 60 seconds stole $138 million worth of jewels. Within a few days some of the jewels were recovered in New York. This criminal organization is made up of jewelry thieves from the former Yugoslavia, which began due to the extreme violence and political instability during the Balkan wars of the 1990s.
It is believed that Transnational Organizations like the Pink Panthers take advantage of economic and trade liberalization, technological advances, communication technology, and international travel. It is important to study the manner in which they do this and to evaluate them apart from local organized crime groups. In efforts of regulating them, the exchange of police information such as fingerprints, photographs and DNA becomes essential. Correspondingly, global mechanisms of control such as the Interpol’s Project Pink Panthers are also key tools for policing such forms of criminality. Albeit, one must also take into account that such efforts are also problematic as different countries ...

...olicing transnational organized crime as it allows these entities to share data and to communicate at a moment’s notice. This arrest is a reflection of the willingness of law enforcement to work together and of how the close co-operation between INTERPOL’s National Central Bureaus in Rome and Podgorica, the Project Pink Panthers unit at Lyon, France meant that Jelusic’s identity could be confirmed through fingerprint and photo comparison. Therefore, co-operation of various countries is imperative in the fight against transnational organized networks.
This is not to say the global mechanisms such as the Interpol and their Pink Panther’s project are without fault or criticism. In fact, one must also acknowledge their problems and limitations in order to develop a better framework to combat such organizations. For instance, the resources available in each jurisdiction
For many Americans MaraSalvatrucha or commonly known on the streets as (MS-13) is an unfamiliar gang but to (FBI) Federal Bureau Investigation,(ATF) Alcohol, Tabaco, Firearms and Explosives, and local law enforcement agencies,MS-13 is an uprising globalized menace of ruthless criminals who are growing in numbers exponentially. These plagues of criminals are not only making their mark here in the United States but they are deeply rooted in their country of origin, El Salvador and all throughout Central America with the exception of Costa Rica and Panama. From drug and human trafficking across the border, to murders, kidnappings, prostitution rings and drug distribution within the United States and other countries, MS-13 is a force to be reckoned with and is as problematic as terrorism for law enforcement.
Globalization can be defined as the “development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free-trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets that transcend nation-state boundaries”. As the world becomes a more integrated society we are more readily able to share goods, services, ideas, and technology. Furthermore, we are able to move more freely between nations. With this freedom there comes prosperity for people, companies and entire countries as we can now gain access to things we never had before. But as we expand our ideas and make it easier to cross borders, those with malicious and deceptive intentions are slipping through and committing heinous crimes that all too often go unnoticed.
Mara Salvatrucha, also known as MS-13, is a well-known transnational criminal organization (TCO) originating from El Salvador. They are specifically targeted for its involvement in transnational criminal activities including drug trafficking, kidnapping, human trafficking, sex trafficking, and many more. It is certain that there are more transnational gangs other than MS-13, but the reality of these gangs impact society, and their neighborhoods, more than one can imagine. There are underlying realities “that make it difficult to generalize [the gangs].” The one of many underlying realities is that each neighborhood level gang group of transnational gangs, particularly MS-13, has a “great deal of autonomy in the relationship it maintains with other organizations.” The second reality factor is that gangs, especially MS-13 in El Salvador are in a state of turmoil. The third reality factor is that the gangs in Central America differ from each other in significant ways. Although most gangs are involved in human smuggling and drug retail, MS-13 has a solidified relationship with “transportista networks and are reaching out to Mexican TCOs.” These realities can be analyzed with Taussig’s notions and theoretical framework of space of death.
The fight against organized crime in Canada continues to be a popular topic of discussion amongst academics, law enforcement agencies, politicians, and the Canadian populace as a whole. Of particular concern is what constitutes the best practices to effectively combat against the crime perpetrated by criminal organizations residing in Canada and abroad. As a result, in November of 2009, experts in the field of organized crime gathered at a summit entitled, The Best Practices to Combat Organized Crime Research Workshop in Ottawa, Ontario to discuss innovative ideas and effective strategies to aid in the effort to eradicate the presence of organized crime in Canada.
In today’s society, where there is political and civil instability in the nations of the world, many citizens become subject to human trafficking. Human trafficking has rapidly grown into a transnational issue. Transnational crimes are often a result of an organized criminal group. These criminal groups quickly exploit the citizens of an unstable country and will send them to other countries while using upgraded technology and the rise of global trade to their advantage. Aside from human trafficking, it also can involve the movement of firearms, vehicles, drugs, or human body parts. Many believe that human trafficking is slavery of the modern-day. Many nations have come together to work on ways to prevent and protect those subject to trafficking.
As we can see, the system of Law Enforcement is formed over many centuries of history, starting as a horse guard and Rangers to modern police departments, agencies and states, performing a variety of functions and meeting the requirements of each time period. Comprehensive study of the evolution of foreign police forces is relevant and has a scientific significance; there may be a promising area of historical and legal research. Analysis of state-legal laws of development of the Law Enforcement system of different countries represent an important step in this direction.
The use of electronic surveillance in the environment was basically to provide security and safety in the environment, which was used to monitor the rate of crime and other social vices in the world, providing global security to the world, and such information on security spreads faster at a snap on the Internet. But today the electronic surveillances are being used to bridge human rights and freedom, this involves the u...
In the Unites States of America, many organizations such as CATW, Freedom Network, and IOFA combat human trafficking or aid in the campaign against human trafficking (United States par. 4-5, 9). Sweden has the Kvinnofrid, which is a law that handles human trafficking well since it contains fierce regulations and punishments for going against the law (Jesionka par. 17). This law although effective only affects the country and not the global pandemic. By working together, countries can launch attacks even while the ring is in another country. Next, as many people know not all countries see eye to eye on certain topics but with the interagency task forces not only do countries get to work together to severely cripple human trafficking, but bonds of trust form eliminating, if any,
Every country has a form of criminal justice system. This system consists in a different series of organizations that work together to defend, sentence and punish those that did not follow the law or have been involved in any type of crime. In most of the countries, the system is similar be-cause is based on law enforcement agencies, attorney generals, judges, courts of law and prisons. All of these organizations work together to contribute towards the better enhancement of the working cooperation within the criminal justice system. However, these procedures won’t al-ways be fully applicable in certain countries.
With the world changing and advancing with technology, criminal organizations are taking advantage of new opportunities. The advancement of travel, ease of communication, and an increase in demand, has all contributed to the globalization of crime. Every nation has been affected by the globalization of crime and the problem continues to grow.
Computers were once thought to be a great tool to use for everything from typing to communicating with relatives in other states. However, criminals are using computers to do all types of illegal crimes such as identity theft, hacking, prostitution and many others. The police must figure a way to curtail these crimes when they are committed. Cybercrimes can be committed from any city in the world. In order to fight cybercrimes, the police are going to need to discuss how the criminals were able to facilitate such crimes. It may be necessary to send police undercover into the organizations that operate the
Globalization, the acceleration and strengthening of worldwide interactions among people, companies and governments, has taken a huge toll on the world, both culturally and economically. It’s generating a fast-paced, increasingly tied world and also praising individualism. It has been a massive subject of matter amongst scientists, politicians, government bureaucrats and the normal, average human population. Globalization promoted the independence of nations and people, relying on organizations such as the World Bank and also regional organizations such as the BRICs that encourage “a world free of poverty” (World Bank). Despite the fact that critics can argue that globalization is an overall positive trend, globalization has had a rather negative cultural and economic effect such as the gigantic wealth gaps and the widespread of American culture, “Americanization”; globalization had good intentions but bad results.
Just imagine waking up in squalor, a once prominent society, now a desolate wasteland. All because foreign interest has raped your land of its natural resources and you seen not a cent in profit. Although, globalization is unifying the worlds developed nations and is bringing commerce to nations that have struggle in past years. True, globalization has many positive effects but do the pros outweigh the cons. In this essay I will discuss Globalization ruining the integrity of many countries and also is forcing many undeveloped nations into a bind, and is causing economic distress on some developed nations. Also, due to economic globalization the nations of the world are diluting their culture, sovereignty, natural resources, safety and political system. My goal is not to change your way of thought, but only to enlighten you of the negatives of global economic expansion.

Globalization’s history is extremely diversified and began during the beginning of civilization. Now we live in a world that is constantly evolving, demanding people to use resources in locations that are very difficult to obtain certain resources. This could make it completely impossible to operate in these specific parts of the world. However, globalization allows people across the world to acquire much needed resources. Globalization creates the opportunity for businesses to take advantage and exploit the ability to take part of their business to a different country. Nevertheless, globalization is part of today’s society and will be involved in virtually all situations.
