I am writing to express my interest in applying the SUSCOS master programme. I believe the programme is a perfect fit in an effort to achieve my professional goals to become a global expert in structural engineering.
I believe my academic background, my practical experience and passion in structural engineering will suit the programme well. My undergraduate study in Universitas Indonesia1, has given me initial tools to realize my passion to perform analysis and design for various types of structures. After graduating with predicate “very good” in 2011, I seized the opportunity to put all the theories and applications I learned in university into action by working as a structural engineer. As part of my work, I have designed both steel and reinforced concrete structures such as industrial warehouse, residential housing and retail store. Every task I faced during my work demands myself to continually improve my design quality and makes me aware of the future challenges in my career. These, along with my learning passion in structural engineering, become the driving force for me to conduct master study.
SUSCOS master programme presents itself as a great option for advancing my skills and knowledge in structural engineering. The syllabus will prepare me to address the issue in sustainable construction, which has become growing demands for structural engineer in recent years. On the other hand, it will also deepen my understanding of structural behavior under dynamic loadings (e.g. earthquake, wind, blast) that is essential to support my career in natural disaster vulnerable country like Indonesia. In addition, I am very keen to learn to design the structure from alternative material such as aluminium, glass, stainless steel and timber...

... SUSCOS master programme, I will be equipped me with all necessary aspects in designing sustainable steel structure and gain a good understanding of the Eurocode. It is a comprehensive guideline that I can refer to support my work, specifically related to steel structures.
Following my participation in SUSCOS master programme, I will seek opportunity to stay and work in Europe for a 2 years or so to enrich my practical experience. With the improved skills and practical experiences, I expect I will take more leadership role in large scale projects when I return to Indonesia. My goals are within 10 years, I hope I can establish myself as a highly rated engineer and realize my childhood dream to design monumental structures such as tall buildings, huge stadiums, and long span bridges.
I thank you for considering my application. I look forward to your positive response.
Our Vision is to become one of the preferred choices of players in the construction industry
..., as well as the management experience, to one day open an engineering firm, an aspiration sparked by my parents who ran their own small businesses. I hope to learn how to tackle problems associated with building structures of unorthodox yet sustainable design so that, as a structural engineer, I could bring to reality art that can endure tumultuous storms and dynamic humans. I want to build structures that in turn build the future.
Throughout history, motivation has been one of the components to survival. Motivation is needed to get up in the morning and go on about the day in order to survive. As humans began to evolve, so did society, which meant our drive and motivation were derived from different goals rather than one common one. Rather than depending on biological drive, humans started to depend on the system of rewarding the good behavior and punishing the bad. This operating is known as Motivation 2.0 (Pink, 2009). However, this method is flawed due to the fact that this implies that humans are no different from a herd of livestock.

I would like to be able to get in this job because this is what I want to do with my life. I’m taking classes now in Hanover which help me get better at this profession, but for me this isn’t an easy thing to do. The reason I like this job is because it’s something different for me to do when I get older in life. The other reason is I like to design houses and building and make little models to show off to people. If I could recommended this job to anyone I would because its fun to do when you know what to do. You also get a chance to got to the site and build or tell them what they have to do during the construction so you get to be the boss during the work of the project.
Motivation is defined as the process that guides, initiates, and maintains goal orientated behavior and thought (Cherry, 2013). Motivation is what drives individuals to do what they do, whether it is something as simple as getting a drink because he or she are thirsty or something as big as getting up every day and gong to work for a paycheck.
Last year, I was involved in designing a roof for a proposed Tate Modern extension in a project sponsored by architecture firm Ove Arup. For this, I gained a Crest 'Gold' Award but more importantly the opportunity to investigate something from a technical point of view, thus branching away from my mainly unscientific subject base.
I have completed Bsc (Hons) Construction management at the University of West London, and I would now like to further my career by studying MSC Project enterprise and management at UCL. I have made this decision after understanding that this course will enable me to develop a broad understating of construction management of large and complex projects and increase my commercial awareness of these projects. I also expect this course to be taught with both academic rigour and place consistent emphasis on practical application of what I learn to construction environment. After working in construction for industry for almost 2 years, and studying a bachelor’s degree I feel I am more than capable of completing Msc Project Entriprise with success as I have already experienced the rigors & dynamics of university education.
Motivation is key in the workplace. It is developed from the collaboration of both conscious and unconscious principles such as the strength of desire or need, motivating force or reward estimation of the objective, and desires of the person and of his or her peers/co-workers. These elements are the reasons one has for carrying on a specific way. An illustration is an understudy that invests additional energy contemplating for a test since he or she needs a superior review in the class. The Inside and outside principles that animate want and vitality in individuals to be constantly intrigued and centered around their work, part or subject, or to try to achieve an objective.
This paper explores what it takes to be a construction manager and the responsibilities of being a construction manager and the skills that a construction manager should have. It also explores what good construction managers do to have success on their construction projects and the steps that a construction manager must follow to end a project and meet their deadlines at the same
The civil engineering field is about gathering and interpreting data, being able to give technical presentations to colleagues, team work to design and build a project, projects range from the design and construction of dams, bridges, buildings, roads, and water supply systems. In most cases the works of engineers are admired and sought after. Engineers play an important role in the development and improvement of a society. Yet, like other technical and non-engineering careers the civil engineers also face issues, for example, regarding ethics, high energy building consumption, increased soil and coastal erosion, inadequate water quality, traffic congestion, and some poor infrastructures resilience to disasters. Another example is that unfortunately in the United Kingdom, the civil engineering industry is highly fragmented with 93% of companies having 14 or fewer employees which is not always a great idea, as written by John Miles in Civil Engineering Informatics. There is also a need to implement new professional and educational approaches to new challenges and new implications that are needed for the twenty-first century society. This paper will introduce and explain five different issues that civil engineers are currently facing and elaborate about how these challenges interrelate to each other.
In 2010, I started my undergraduate degree course in Industrial Engineering and Management in the prestigious M.S. Ramaiah ...
The profession of architecture, the possible career as an architect, taking steps to gain a position and education as well as the set growth and prospects of this profession. According to Lee W. Waldrep (2010), author of the book Becoming a Architect “A Guide to Careers in Design, an architect is an imaginative person who designs a wide range of structures for buildings”(p. 2). These structures not only have to be aesthetically pleasing, but must also meet the safety requirements. Architects have to compete with other architects to attract customers by presenting designs. This process is generally based on building a reputation as an architect. Due to the nature and the amount of time devoted to designing, architects
Throughout my undergraduate studies I was given a comprehensive exposure to the ever dynamic curriculum of Mechanical Engineering ranging from wide range of topics like Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Manufacturing, Machine design, Material science etc. These courses have helped me build a strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and laid the necessary groundwork for pursuing graduate studies. I have maintained a clean and illustrious academic record of CGPA: 8.37 (on a scale of 10) which helped me to secure a degree in Mechanical Engineering with Distinction having placed in top 7% (10th in the competitive class of 140 students) of Mechanical Engineering Department of my college. I am also an AutoCAD Certified Associate which will surely add to my value.
Sustainable concrete materials and sustainable steel reinforcement have been introduced to civil engineers to get closer to the sustainable development. Sustainable buildings constructed with use of these materials have shown an increased service life and the final cost has been reduced due to them.
