What makes a society ideal is primarily based on an individual’s own perspective. For a society to be an ideal society, the principles of each and every individual residing in that society will need to be aligned. In the world as we know it today the common denominator between each person is the root of all evil, the greed for money. Everyone desires progress, and progress is determined by how much money the person has acquired. Therefore an ideal society requires there to be no greed. To make that possible, money needs to be taken out of the equation.
My perspective of an ideal society relates closely with Thomas More’s Utopia. More portrays Utopia to be an impeccable society where all its citizens work not only to better their lives but also to better each other’s lives. I believe that for a society to be harmonious, its inhabitants need to partake in communal activities. People need to introduce themselves to their community to gain awareness of each other. The residents of the society will need to share the communal wealth equally amongst each other. Everyone on will be able to get whatever they want without exchanging any form of currency.
In an ideal society everyone will only work for the benefit of the society. Men and women will be allocated jobs based on the requirement of the society. Each citizen will have a purpose in the society. Everyone will be taught specific skills which they will have to employ for the benefit of the society. By benefiting the society, they will benefit themselves because everyone will acquire an equal share in the common wealth. Common wealth being the necessary goods required for a community to thrive on. Thomas More writes in Utopia,
“Each person is taught a special trade of his own. He may ...

Ideal societies do not exist, but that does not mean that the ambition to exist in an ideal society should be forgotten. An I deal society can be possible, it requires unity, compassion, humanity.
