Free Essay on Jim in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Jim runs away for his family, so his kids might have a brighter future not for himself but for his family. While not even liking Tom, Jim risks the dream he had for his family by helping save Tom's life. Jim also shows love and goodwill as kind of representing a father figure to Huck. Jim has not been given all the freedom of the white man but he will unselfishly give to all with no prejudice. Jim represents love and symbolizes true goodwill to all. Jim is symbolic with love in the whole story. While Huck and Jim are traveling down river Jim tells Huck why he is running away. It is not all for his own freedom it is more for his wife and his children. In this one instance Jim is risking his life to possibly find a better way for someone he loves. An act such as this is an unselfish act that could possibly be rewarded with death. Most characters wouldn't give unselfishly such as this. This is truly a charater that is trying to do good and make the best of a bad situation, not for himself but for others. Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer were planning to free Niger Jim. He was owned by Tom Sawyer's aunt and uncle. Before Tom arrived to his uncle's farm Huck was already there and he stopped Tom before the Phelpses saw him. Tom hid until that night when they planned to break Jim out. But being the one for excitement that Tom was he derived a plan that would for sure get them caught. He left a note on the Phelps's porch that something was going to happen. As Huck and Tom freed Jim Mr. Phelps fired a shot and it hit Tom but Huck and Jim didn't realize it until they got to the boat and floated to the island. On the island, they decided to leave to leave Tom while Huck went to get a doctor and Jim got away. But when the doctor arrived Jim was watching Tom. Jim sacrificed his freedom to help someone who he really didn't like. Jim symbolizes love throughout the story, not just in this one instance.
He risks his freedom to help the doctor save Tom’s life and help Huck successfully escape the Shepherdsons’. Jim shows his appreciation for Huck bringing him on this journey toward freedom by telling him he will never forget him for helping him and lying to protect his hope. On the other hand, Jim can be considered intelligent due to his belief in ghosts. But, he also posses great common sense in situations where he must protect others such as Huck. Just as Jesus Christ shed light on all things human, Jim put important aspects of his life on the line and when others so that for him, he shows how thankful he is through
...all along Jim was free but being the adventurous boy he is he wanted Jim to turn out and be a hero like the one’s he reads about. Tom knows Jim could have been freed multiple times if he didn’t put him up to all of the childish games. Jim had stayed by Tom’s when he almost died and would do anything for him but Tom couldn’t give Jim the same respect back. His foolishness behavior caused Jim more pain and almost didn’t get him freed. Jim was a father figure to both boys and he stood by Huck’s side since the beginning of the novel.
Huck grows more apologetic upon the next prank he pulls on Jim. While traveling on the river, Huck and Jim reach a point in their path where a dense fog rolls in, causing them to lose their way and get separated from each other. Huck takes advantage of the opportunity given by this natural event and decides to play another trick on Jim (94). However, Jim did not handle it too well since he is worried sick. This post fog scene is one of many turning points of Huck’s moral development. He knows that it was wrong of him to make a fool of Jim because it made him feel so mean that he could kiss Jim’s foot (95). Although Huck did not mean it in a literal sense, what he said is powerful because he would have to bend over and lie close to the ground
Jim has been proven, especially towards the end of the novel, how brave he is. Towards the end of the novel, Tom gets shot when trying to
During times of slavery, every African American in the south was either a slave or a free African American. “She treated me with respect” (Twain 5). Jim said when he was asked about how the Widow Douglass treats him. This shows that the life of Jim was not that bad, he had everything a slave at that time could want, and his owner did not disrespect him. Also most slaves were abused and almost beaten to death. Twain tries to represent the hardships of slaves on a daily basis when he doesn’t portray Jim’s life to be much difficult “Even though Jim was a slave, he was treated like a family member” (Ralph 6). Jim was a house slave and did not have to do hard work in the fields for long hours. In page 3 in Ralph’s Article, he says “Jim had to no motive to leave, he wanted freedom but it would be harder for him because he wouldn’t have all the amenities he had when he was a slave” (Ralph 4).
International marketing is an important factor in helping organizations to become globally competitive. According to Cateora, Gilly, and Graham (2013), “international marketing is the performance of business activities designed to plan, price, promote, and direct flow of the companies goods and services to consumers of users in more than one nation for profit” (p. 10). International marketing strategies and its efficiency assists in the expansion of an organization. Moreover, the major goals of a marketing manager are to reduce risk and capitalize on returns in profit. Global expansion has developed a tactical imperative for nearly all large organizations and marketing managers have a great deal on their hands in developing, monitoring and changing these strategies. Cultural understanding is plainly essential for an organization expecting to be successful in operating in a host country. As stated by Dawes and Lee, “It is a part of the basic orientation of a country, and anyone who is confused about the environment is more than likely not going to be effective” (as cited in Tangen, 2011, p. 122).

After sometime on the island he comes across a bonfire that was put out and he now realizes somebody is here on the island with him as well. Huck runs into the other individual and it turns out to be a slave named Jim. Jim says he ran away because he overheard Mrs. Watson talking about selling him down the river for $800 and sent to new Orleans as a field worker in the deep south taking him away from his family. Huck promises right off to not tell anyone that Jim ran away. He knows there 's a risk keeping such a secret is a big deal. Jim is going to hunt and any white person who sees him will take him and prosecute
A strategy to reduce these risks that becomes more and more popular is to follow a brand extension. Indeed, this strategy gained grown since 1984. In the USA, until 1984, the share of extension products in total new product introductions in the fast-moving consumers goods segment was only 40% (Aaker & Keller 1990, p. 27), the share amounted to 90% in 1991 (Rangaswamy & Burke & Oliva 1993). During the two decade, more than 40 studies have been made all over the world in order to determine the conditions that make a successful brand extension but some aspect are unknown or unexplored.
One of the problems in the press is inaccurate reporting, the PCC has to deal with this on a regular basis. The first code in the PCC is accuracy. The press must not publish misleading, inaccurate information or edited distorted pictures. The editor of the press in question must make sure that none of this happens. If a complaint is made against someone they will receive a period of time to reply to any inaccuracies. An Example of the code is Barry Khanan of Lancashire; he complained that an article in the Sun inaccurately reported that his niece, Alicia Riaz, had made a telephone call to her friend on the night that she, her three sisters and her m...

The strategy multinational firms use is called multi - domestic marketing strategy, meaning “they have as many different product variations, brand names, and advertising programs as countries in which they do business” (Kerin, Hartley, 182). A global marketing strategy is what transitional marketers employ. A global marketing strategy is “the practice of standardizing marketing activities when there are cultural similarities and adapting when cultures differ” (Kerin, Hartley,182). The global strategy also allows marketers to realize their scale of production and marketing activities. “Global consumers are a group of consumers living in many countries or regions of the world who have similar needs or seek similar features
