Christopher Johnson McCandless was a hiker who also went by the name Alexander Supertramp and ventured into the Alaskan wilderness in April 1992 with a bit of food and equipment, hoping to live in isolation. Almost four months later, McCandless's body was found, weighing only 30kg. His story shocked many people and got the attention of magazine writer Jon Krakauer. At First he wrote a small article in the magazine Outside that sparked a lot of controversy with the readers. Since Krakauer got a lot of attention from his article, he decided to do more investigation on McCandless’s journey. Krakauer end up writing the book named Into the Wild and explains with plenty of detail McCandless’s life before his journey to the wilderness. Now a days, most teenager or young adult would never give up the life they have, because the way were so attach to electronics and our surroundings, for Chris McCandless is a different story he gave everything he had in life to go out and live a life in seclusion that caused him his death.

Chris McCandless was born in El Segundo, California in February 12, 1968 he was the older brother of Carine. His father was employed as an antenna specialist at National Aeroutics and Space Administration. His mother worked as a secretary at Hughes Aircraft. Then the family decided to move to Fairfax, Virginia, where Chris live. Chris parents would often fight and sometimes considered getting divorced. Chris and Carine have six half siblings living in California from his father’s first marriage. Chris’s father had an affair with Chris’s mom while he was married , because of that caused him to hold bitterness toward his father, maybe he was so ashamed of him he just wanted to get ...

Also as he read the mail, he got two kinds of point of views, first as he say” Some readers admired the boy immensely for his courage and noble ideas” and the other point of view is “ He perished out of arrogance and stupidity and was undeserving of the considerable media attention he received” I believe he decided to research more about Chris McCandless, the guy that decided to lived differently than the rest of us, to answer the questions from both points of views. As he wrote the book he wanted the reader to read and make his or her own opinions. He wrote about his past life and his conflicts that made him choose to live in the wild. As Krakauer wrote more and more about Chris, the readers started to get to know Chris from every aspect of his life.
