1.1. Introduction
This chapter gives an introduction of the company where internship project were performed. The company's name O3B NETWORKS stands for “Other Three Billion”. There are estimated three billion people on earth who are either unable to reach internet or having very slow internet connectivity with means of terrestrial internet communication services. The O3B NETWORKS is aiming to provide high-speed internet and telecommunications services connectivity to these three billion people by means of satellites. The O3B NETWORKS was founded by Greg Wyler in 2007 and the Company brought up a different approach to provide internet connectivity in the current typical market of GEO satellites.
A traditional GEO satellite is placed in an orbit around a distance of 3600 kilometers from earth whereas O3B NETWORKS’ satellites are only 8063 kilometers. The lesser distance of an O3B NETWORKS satellite constellation from earth compared to the traditional long-distance GEO satellites, leads to a lower latency , lower cost internet service provider solution. The O3B NETWORKS initial constellation consists of eight identical satellites operating in a medium earth orbit, to which additional satellites can be added to increase the capacity of the services. Four satellites have already been launched and tested operationally and the other four are expected to be launched and operational in January 2014.
O3B NETWORKS is a very young company compared to other satellite communication service providers. There are more than 200 people working for O3B NETWORKS and around 50 people are working in The Hague office including engineers and the IT-department, some of them has served more than 20 years in the satellite industry.

1.5.1. Team
The department consists of four employees in total. The employees are highly skilled in the satellite and telecommunication profession with more than 20 years of experience. The head of the department, Mr. Ashok Rao, has been working in various telecommunication projects for two decades after earning his PhD, and it was a great learning opportunity working with a professional like Ashok. The chart given below shows product development employees hierarchy.

1.5.2. Projects
The primary task of Product Development is to focus on the O3B NETWORKS cell product and tasks. The road map given below can help understand the projects of the department.

Response: There are minimal opportunities for advancement as departments are small and only consist of a few employees per department. Normally someone would have to leave the company in order to move up th...
Internships provide students with opportunities to apply theoretical and basic knowledge gained in the classroom. During the field placement period, the agency supervisor becomes the primary teacher, aside from the clients, in the student's day-to-day learning. The supervisor is responsible for coordinates the student's overall experience by helping the student integrate the various pieces of the Field Internship. However, to make the placement, a positive experience supervisor need to be aware of student’s strengths, and learning needs to match assignments accordingly.
In addition, One.Tel had low complexity that is determined by having unclear job tasks and responsibilities. As there is no organizational chart, the relationship between the employees could not be determined and the job descriptions were ambiguous. Understaffing, which often happens, and many called from customers were left unanswered, led to the long-term decline in sales, as there was frustration among the customers. No rules and procedures in handling account and customers complaint shown that One.Tel was lack of formalization in operation. One.Tel also did not run its divisions’ function properly. There was no right procedure in training staff and it recruited young inexperienced staffs. It also had disorganized billing system and financial account.
The Internet consists of a three level hierarchy composed of backbone networks (e.g. ARPAnet, NSFNet, MILNET), mid-level networks, and stub networks. These include commercial (.com or .co), university (.ac or .edu) and other research networks (.org, .net) and military (.mil) networks and span many different physical networks around the world with various protocols, chiefly the Internet Protocol.
The mission is accomplished by understanding consumer needs and providing offerings that meet or exceed those needs. Nokia believes that excellence in three areas-product design; services such as mobile Internet, messaging, and network security; and state-of-the-art technology-is the most important aspect of its offerings.

The quarter has finally come to an end, and with that, I close out my internship and this class that went along with it. It was a great experience and I leave equipped with a new set of skills that are preparing me for the world ahead. As I write this reflection paper, I think back to the very first week when I set up two goals for myself to focus on and hope to achieve throughout the following weeks. My first goal was to develop a better understanding of myself within the work place, and my second was to develop a strong network to jumpstart my career. Both of my goals were achieved, however, I don’t feel that either of my goals will ever be complete. I believe that you can always formulate a better understanding of yourself, and you can always network to develop a stronger tree of connections. I know for a fact, however, that I reached satisfaction with both of my goals at this internship at MKI and know whole-heartedly that I did everything in my power to exhaust my resources in
BGAN is global satellite internetwork that can uses portable terminals for telecommunication. The terminals used to connect computers, laptops to broadband internet in remote areas, even if as long as line-of-sight to the satellite exists, In anywhere terminal can be used. The Value of BGAN terminals is that different other satellite internet services which is required huge and heavy satellite dishes to connect, a BGAN terminal is about the size of a computer or laptop and that can be carried easily. The network is provided by Inmarsat and uses 3 geostationary satellites to give almost global coverage.
Have you ever thought about how that little phone in your hand works? What about how you always seem to have internet and cable access? A satellite is a device put into orbit around Earth that uses receivers, amplifiers, and transmitters to receive and send signals around the globe (“Communications Satellite Aug. 2007”). Satellites provide the signals to these and more devices. Satellites orbit Earth and provide global communications, as well as collect valuable data. Many countries and companies currently compete for the valuable orbits for satellites. Individuals and countries alike have pushed themselves and each other to improve their space technology by testing and using new and innovative ideas.
During the course of time, I’ve learned many useful things that have led me to be the person I want to be today. From college classes to work experiences, I now have the ability to exceed upon internship experiences that can shape my perspective on life. The purpose of this paper is to summarize, reflect, analyze, and synthesize on my internship experience at the Children’s Home of Reading-Acute Partial Hospitalization Program.
My internship experience this semester was interesting. I interned at ESH/MESH with Bridgeway. My Supervisor was Emilie Banz. I didn’t do much but I did learn a lot from this experience. I met a lot of great people and watch PsyR in action. I met a couple of individuals who were really cool. My experience this semester has prepared me for the next.
ability to establish a professional work ethos as well as developing skills needed to maintain a work life balance. Through all the experiences gained from this internship, it has provided skills such as multitasking in a fast paced office setting, keen organizational skills, and improvement on communicating in a professional workplace as well as the ability to handle situations as they arise.
Indeed, I admit that my experience in my clinical internship is much different in my industrial setting. I experienced the world of unemployed and employed people. I experienced to look for a job, pass resume, being interviewed and waiting for a call from a company. I admit that it’s really hard and tiring to look for a job. After all the struggles, I received a call from the company where I want to get in and spend my internship. I got accepted to work and do my internship at Philippine Airlines, for me I take this as an opportunity since I really want to work in airlines. I worked at Philippine Airlines for almost a month. I was assigned in Human Capital specifically Compensation Division. At first, I find difficulty in adjusting to this
This is a matter of pleasure for me to acknowledge my deep sense of gratitude to University Sains of Malaysia for giving me an opportunity to explore my abilities via this internship programme. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my academic supervisor, Dr. Amirul Shah for their valuable guidance and advice in completing this internship.
