Recommended: Home life vs dorm life

Most students who are about to go to college, are faced with the problem of either staying at home or living in the dormitory. Some students have wonderful experiences in the dorm, and others have absolutely opposing opinions about dorm life. The question that every college student must answer: should you live on-campus or at home? Both options have their advantages and disadvantages, so it is crucial for you to weigh your choices before you make a final decision. In my opinion, living at home is a lot better than living in the dormitory, however, both have their pros and cons in each case. The choice of living at home and living in the dorm depends solely on the particular individual. I will now go ahead to compare and contrast the positives and negatives of living at home and in the dormitory.
Pros living on campus
Accessibility: If you live on campus, you can easily walk to classes, libraries, computer labs, cafeterias, etc. You do not have to waste time and money driving to school, finding a parking space, and so on. Also, some colleges give free access to internet, laptops and cable, so students do not go through the trouble of always being in the library and waiting for an available computer.
Increased social life: Living on campus will allow you to meet more people and establish more friendships than if you live off-campus. Living in a dorm means that there will always be someone around to hang out with. You will be aware of campus activities and how to participate in those activities. When living in the dormitory, you will have the chance to make new friends from different areas in the country and the world in general.

...e as involved with campus activities as you would if you lived on-campus. This could cause you to feel a sense of detachment with your college and cause you to not make as many friends. Commuter students sometimes drop out because they don't feel connected to the school. Living in the dorms gives you the best opportunity to get involved in on-campus activities, such as sports, concerts, and other group activities.
To conclude, it is important to say that the basic differences between the dorm living and home living are the individual interests of the person and his aims in life. When deciding whether to live on-campus or at home, think about what is important to you and make a good decision. So to sum it all, living on or off campus can drastically change your college experience. Therefore, the main factor here is the personality of the dweller.
