In this essay, I have chosen two poetry, which I am going to talk about. First poem is full moon” which is in form poem. Second poem is “The Horse who looked at me” which is a free verse poem. This both poetry sound motivating and entertain to me. The purpose of this essay is the contrast the rhyme, stanza and imagery of this both poetry.

This poetry, author has discussed about a full moon, vast universe, storm and roared cloud. in this full moon poem, in first stanza rhyme with the second line and third line is rhymed with the fourth. “Stars” is rhymed to “Light”. In the second stanza, first line is rhymed with the third and second line is rhymed with the fourth. “Dark” is rhyme to “cloistered place” and “full moon” is rhyme to “sight”. In the third stanza, first line is rhyme with the second line. “Small” is rhyme to “earth” because in this whole universe, earth seem like small object. In the fourth stanza, second line is rhyme to the third line. “Vast” is rhyme to “past”. In contrast, the horse who looked at me do not follow the rules and have no rhyme because it is a free verse poem. However, they have an artistic expression

... I believe the full moon poetry is somewhat straightforward. I like this poetry title because the title poetry sounds interesting and encouraging to me. This poetry was properly managed and it was clear and simple narrated. This poetry is understandable. This poetry used beautiful expression towards poem. I like this poem because it is open and clean to understand. The Horse who looked to me poetry is hard and confusing poetry. Poet has described this poetry in confusing manner. I as reader do not really get interest in this poetry. In this poetry, poet is using full line in anywhere throughout this poetry. This poem does not follow any present patterns. When I first read this poetry, I did not notice any variations of this poem. However, when I took closer inspection, on difficult word this poetry gives great impact and interest.
Although both poems are set in the same environment, and that the visual structure of the poems are similar. Once you look deeper and analysis the poems it becomes clear that they have been written in very different styles, and very different but as powerful emotions running through them i.e. grief and resignment. One poet has a future to look forward to; the other knows that death is around the corner. One poet could not have for scene a death, the other is questioning weather the ‘black diamond dust’ was worth it on reflection.
The alliteration used is to emphasize rhythm in the poem. On the other hand, the poet also depicts a certain rhyme scheme across each stanza. For example, the first stanza has a rhyme scheme of this manner a, b, c, d, e, a. With this, the rhyme scheme depicted is an irregular manner. Hence, the poem does not have a regular rhythm. Moreover, the poet uses a specific deign of consonance, which is present in the poem (Ahmed & Ayesha, p. 11). The poet also uses the assonance style depicted in the seventh stanza, “Seven whole days I have not seen my beloved.” The letter ‘o’ has been repeated to create rhythm and to show despair in the poem. On the second last line of the seventh stanza, the poet uses the style of consonance, “If I hug her, she’ll drive illness from me. By this, the letter ‘l’ is repeated across the line. The poet’s aim of using this style of Consonance is to establish rhythm in the poem and add aural
This is one of my favorite parts of the story. They are so crucial to the learning and the lesson of the story. As the title shows, “Walk Two Moons”, these are a large part of this book. I think that without these notes this story would be like any other book. The notes are what make this book so meaningful and unique to other
The poem uses many literary devices to enhance the meaning the words provide. The poem starts at the beginning of the story as the moon comes to visit the forge. The moon is said to be wearing “her skirt of white, fragrant flowers” (Lorca 2) as its bright light penetrates the scene. The poem states “the young boy watches her, watches. / The young boy is watching her” (3-4). The repetition of the phrase emphasizes the young boy’s infatuation with the moon. The scene is set with intensity by the phrase “electrified air” (5) and a tense feeling is brought into the poem. As “the moon moves her arms” (6), she is given traits of being alive and having her own human qualities. Personification of the moon into a woman exemplifies the desire that the child would have for the woman, and creates a more appealing form for the moon to appear as. The child cries, “flee, moon, moon, moon” (9) with urgency, showing his concern for her. He warns her “they would make with your heart / white necklaces and rings” (11-12). This refers back to the metaphor that the moon is made of hard tin, but still personifies her by giving her a heart. The moon is additionally personified when she says “ young boy, leave me to dance”(13). She has now taken the form of a sensual and erotic gypsy dancer furthering the desire of the young boy. This brings Spanish culture to the poem because gypsies are known to travel throughout Spain. The mo...
Literature shows us the changes of our society from time to time. It also gives us an idea about people, culture, politics, gender traditions, as well as an overall view of previous civilizations. As a part of literature, poetry introduces us to different cultures with different perspectives. Ancient Egypt and ancient China may differ in terms of culture, politics, economic stability, tradition, or even in religious belief. However, in poetry, especially in love lyrics both Egyptian and Chinese poems portray common area of describing women, social attitudes toward love, sexuality and the existence of romance or selfishness in relationships. . If we look at the Egyptian poem “My god, my Lotus” and the Chinese poem “Fishhawk”, we will see both poems have similarities in describing relationships. Also, they have the similarity of imagining the lovers and their expression of love toward each other. However, both poems have some significant differences in terms of representing female sexuality, gender disparity and the display of love.
There is no clear correct way to analyze the poem and judge who is more correct is in the reader’s hand not the writers. If to readers sought different meanings each party would have a valid reason to why theirs is correct and the opposite party must accept it. The one agreeable argument is that this is an interesting and powerful poem.
The mood of the poem “simile” is tenseness and even coldness of this poem. something has gone wrong in the relationship and there is a sense of discord. The poem “ moon rondeau” the mood of the feeling in this poem is tense and tight. I think this poem is mainly about independence. The mood for the poem “woman” her mood seems to withdraw into a shell. her tone grows with similarity
Poetry is taught in classrooms and has become a very important aspect of literature throughout the years. Whereas, songs have not, if anything, they have developed a negative connotation stating that less (words and meaning) is more (popular in society). Some people argue that song lyrics essentially are less valuable compared to poetry. Poetry is considered literature due to the fact that it is written in verses, prose, and forms that reflect the mastery of literary techniques and mechanisms. The biases between the two works, poetry and song lyrics, does a disfavor and prejudice to both. In giving one work over another the title of a valuable piece of literature, the audience is missing out on the meaning and appreciation behind the work. The difference among poetry and song lyrics seem very juvenile. At first glimpse, poetry relies solely on words alone, their sounds, tones, meanings, and silence all depend upon the individual himself reading the poem. The words within the poem take place in silent context. Whereas, lyrics relay on the same forces; however, it is supported by music. The musical artists use a lot of deliberate musical information to help exaggerate certain words and meanings. The main difference is the conditions of the environment which affect the structure of the words. To gain the full comprehension and appreciation of both pieces of work, poetry and song lyrics, is to read them with the same respect in order to see the correlation between the two.
The poetry by these two poets creates several different images, both overall, each with a different goal, have achieved their purposes. Though from slightly different times, they can both be recognized and appreciated as poets who did not fear the outside, and were willing to put themselves out there to create both truth and beauty.
The first literary device that can be found throughout the poem is couplet, which is when two lines in a stanza rhyme successfully. For instance, lines 1-2 state, “At midnight, in the month of June / I stand beneath the mystic moon.” This is evidence that couplet is being used as both June and moon rhyme, which can suggest that these details are important, thus leading the reader to become aware of the speaker’s thoughts and actions. Another example of this device can be found in lines 16-17, “All Beauty sleeps!—and lo! where lies / (Her casement open to the skies).” These lines not only successfully rhyme, but they also describe a woman who
Out of the two poems I liked the second poem better. The reason why I
Poetry is the most compressed form of literature, which should be read slowly and savored attentively. Poets employ different poetic techniques to convey their ideas, opinions, and express their feelings. Some poems can be understood easily while others seam vague. But whatever they are, they all contain some common elements of poetry such as theme, figurative language, and tone, etc. ¡§Constantly risking absurdity and death¡¨ and ¡§betting on the muse¡¨ are two poems which are written by two different poets. By comparing and contrasting these two poems, the full beauty of the poems can be greatly appreciated and their theme can be deeply explored.
It will further deal with the development of tension throughout the poem. By making a distinction between tension through formal aspects, such as rhyme scheme, and tension through content it will try to show the interconnection between both of them. Additionally, the paper will deal with the possible effect of tension on the reader and how the poem might be perceived by him/her.
and By Candlelight are written in nine-line stanzas, the two poems having two and four respectively,
From the very beginning of human species, literature existed side by side. Human life, in the form of human passions, feelings, loves, sufferings, and human history existed in the literatures. Human legends started with the very stone age, recorded in the stone scripts. It was a human need to communicate the past to the future generations. Poetry, as an art form, has been for many centuries praised, contemplated and has continued to affect man. Man has used poetry to express love and grief, birth and death, innocence and guilt, heaven and hell in a more effective way. In order to achieve such a way of expression the poet does not have any other material at his disposal except language. However in poetry, this language itself, turns out to be the goal of the poet rather than only an instrument for communication. Her/his way of expressing ideas and emotions summarises the poets craftsmanship and creativity. What the poet does is that he/she illustrates and exemplifies how language can be used to achieve the most effective way of expression. Poems deal with universal themes such as love and hate, birth and death, innocence and guilt, heaven and hell, which are familiar to all readers. For this reason, believing in the importance of literature and the contribution of poetry to language teaching and learning, we have decided to use poetry to act as a means to enrich the language awareness of ELT majors.
