“Global warming is the usually rapid increase in Earth’s average surface temperature, over the past century primarily due to green house gases released as people burn fossil fuels.”(“Cause of Global Warming”) Global warming is a dangerous and complicated issue that not many people know about. Over the past 250 years, people have been releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels. Many factors cause global warming, most are by humans. The carbon dioxide over the years has increased much more rapidly now. “Since the industrial revolution began in about 1750’s, carbon dioxide levels have increased nearly thirty-eight percent.” (“Cause of Global Warming”) “ It was not until 1950’s that scientists had discovered that the carbon dioxide levels had increase in the atmosphere and realized it might be a threat. In 1960’s many scientists’ predicted in 2000 the atmosphere would be really bad that it would be the cause of climate change.” (“Global Warming Timeline”) The United States President focused on spreading the news to the nation, but at that time global warming was not a threat so many ignored the signs. However, it was not until 1990 that global warming started to affect the people by climate change. “The effect of climate change on human beings’ health was in focus in 1990s. The issue has not only attracted the experts, but also made the general public worried.” (Moseley Jonathon) Vargas 1 People using cars and factories sending out carbon dioxide in the atmosphere everyday eventually adds up. Scientists have discovered that ninety percent of the global warming is from green-house gases. All the chemicals in the air eventually will start to harm many people and children. Since measurements began in 1958 -- and it can be assumed to have been the case since the industrial revolution -- emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere has risen steadily as a result of the burning of fossil fuels (Quay, pp 2344). Although there is much argument over the implications of increasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, there are several points that almost all scientists would agree on: firstly, carbon dioxide acts to absorb radiated heat; if present in our atmosphere will do just that to some extent. Second, the concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is rising. Third, the temperature of the planet is rising - although the amount of this increase and the causes of this rise are subject to disagreement (Philander, pp 193).
What are the Causes of Global Warming?
Firstly, global warming is said to be caused by the high levels of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by humans. Smoke produced by factories, vehicular exhaust, and the burning of fossil fuels such as coal in power plants are the primary sources of carbon dioxide. The theory is that carbon dioxide being released into the Earth's atmosphere is steadily building up because it cannot escape into space. The theory as to why the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere actually causes the Earth's average temperature to rise is outlined as follows:
Most climate scientists agree that the main cause of global climate change is the human expansion of the greenhouse effect. This is the global warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from Earth toward space (climate.nasa.gov). The main gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons (climate.nasa.gov). Human activities are changing the natural greenhouse effect. The burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil has increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (climate.nasa.gov). Carbon dioxide levels have increased from 280 parts per million to 379 parts per million in the last 150 years due to human act...
For years to come there will always be a speculation on whether the climate change has really taken place or not. Many believe that large companies launched this topic in order to benefit from it in profit, as there are also those who are convinced that this are consequences that have emerged from human mistakes in understanding the environment. As humans are struggling to trust one another whether it is just a big conspiracy or not or environment changing itself, we are slowly starting to feel the effects of climate change. Because of the gasses (CO2) that are in the air, atmosphere is getting warmer, thereby triggering the Greenhouse effect. Almost 70% of emitted gasses in air are CO2, which leads us to believe that this is the main cause of Global Warming. Since it is billions and billions of metric tons per year that are being released in air, many scientists conclude that temperature will most likely be more higher in twenty years from now, than it was in near past.

This was the original argument used by the carbon industry to discredit climate change and global warming.
So what is the big deal? The problem, and the reason why this concept instills fear directly into the core of scientists, is the rate at which, over the past 1,300 years, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have risen. This unnatural increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide, due to the immense amount of anthropogenic burning of oil and coal, affects the transfer of infrared energy through the atmosphere, leading us to the phenomenon of global warming. 1). 61). furnaces. By letting all these gases release into the air, it makes it harder to breathe.
Volcanic activity also causes the release of certain elements that may block the sun and also contribute to the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The most destructive human contribution to climate change is fossil fuel combustion, which results in the release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Increased carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and halocarbon levels in the atmosphere cause an imbalance in the earth’s energy. This is because the gases alter solar radiation and thermal radiation, which regulate the earth’s energy.
Nearly all climate scientists can agree, that the most common cause of the current global warming trend, is to be blamed on the burning of fossil fuels, which changes the natural greenhouse of our earth. The usual process in which heat is absorbed by the earth, is when sunlight passes through its atmosphere

The new worries that are starting to show prominence in society today are the increase in carbon dioxide from the use of aerosols (Calipso Outreach).... ... middle of paper ... ... There is a general worldwide consensus that climate change is occurring, but many still claim it's not man made, but a natural earth cycle.
Climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere due to a buildup of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases can occur naturally as well as a result of human activities. The greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. “Carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere when solid waste, fossil fuels, and wood are burned.” (2) The gases help to warm the surface of the Earth. Each greenhouse gas absorbs heat differently. If natural gases did not occur, the temperature of the earth would be considerably cooler. “Problems can occur when higher concentrations of greenhouse gases are present in our atmosphere because they have enhanced our earth's heat trapping capability.” (3)
The carbon dioxide, also known as a greenhouse gas, remains in the air trapping heat and gradually warming the planet. Other greenhouse gases such as: methane, nitrous oxide, and water vapor also contribute to this slow warming. According to Live Science, The state of these gases being trapped is called the greenhouse effect, which is one of the leading causes of global warming (Lallanillia). All the gases are created differently and have different effects on the earth.
