On November 7th, 1918 on a small dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina,
William F. Graham was born. He was the first of his four siblings on their family farm. No one
expected that Graham would be the child to become a worldwide famous preacher. Graham was
a preacher at revival meetings in Los Angeles and starred on Stuart Hamblen’s radio show in
1949. (Bio.com) The publicity made Graham a global celebrity and began traveling the world
speaking the word of Jesus Christ to millions of people. He has preached to more audiences than
anyone else in history (about 215 million people). He has led hundreds and thousands of many
different people to make the big decision to live for Christ, which is the whole reason why he
started his ministry. Being a preacher comes with many benefits, during his journey, Billy has
met Kings, Queens, Presidents, and even celebrities. He has worked with every president since
Truman. No matter who he is preaching to, his message is still the exact same. “Everywhere I go
I find that people … both leaders and individuals … are asking one basic question,” Graham has
said. “‘Is there any hope for the future?’ My answer is the same, ‘Yes, through Jesus
Christ.’” (About.com) Graham’s parents were “strict Calvinists”, however it took the teaching
of a traveling minister to lead Billy Graham to God. (Bio.com). The traveling minister went by
the name of Mordecai Ham. Although Billy was a well-behaved child, he attended nearly all of
Mordecai’s revival meetings, which influenced young Graham greatly. Remembering Ham’s
wise words Graham finished high school and proceeded to enroll in the Christian school, Bob
Jones College. After studying at Bob Jones for awhile, Billy felt out of ...

diagnosed with a disease similar to Parkinson’s Disease (Hydrocephalus) which is a disease of
the nervous system and causes imprecise movement and effects your thinking process, causing
his retirement. Billy Graham himself is still alive to this day, but his wife sadly passed away due
to pneumonia. Near his 95th

Firstly, Abernathy’s Early Life includes his family and the first roles and jobs that he start doing. Abernathy’s family consisted of his mother, his father and his 10 other siblings. His parents’ names were William L and Juanita Odessa Jones. His father was a local farmer and church deacon; he owned 500 acres of farm land. Juanita, his mother, was always encouraging Ralph to strive to reach his goal of becoming preacher once he realized that was his calling. His father was a part of the school board of Linden Academy, the high school that Abernathy attended. When it came to religion, his whole family consisted of Christians. Abernathy was born the 10th out of 11 other siblings, brothers and sisters that lived with him when he was a child and adolescent in Linden, Alabama. One of his sisters gave him the nickname of “Ralph” after a favorite teacher she had. His family was respected by the black...
Martin Luther, was “temperamental, peevish, egomaniacal, and argumentative” (Hooker, www.wsu.edu), but played a pivotal role in history. During Luther's time as a monk, the Catholic Church was selling indulgences. Luther took notice to the corruption and began to reason that men can only get their salvation through Jesus Christ, not the Pope or indulgences, let alone the Church itself. Luther began ...

"This is the Hour of Decision with Billy Graham, coming to you from Minneapolis Minnesota" Billy Graham, has preached to more than 210 million people through a live audience, more than anyone else in history. Not only that, but Mr. Graham has reached millions more through live televison, video and film. This has led Billy to be on the "Ten Most Admired Men in the World" from the Gallup Poll since 1955 a total of thirty-nine times. This includes thirty-two consecutive more than any other individual in the world, placing him as the most popular American for about forty years. This essay is going to talk about Graham's personal life, and what kind of family he grew up in and im also going to talk in detail about how he became an evangelist, because I feel it is very important yet interesting. His accomplishments in the fifties are uncomparable, so I will be including a considerable amount of information concerning that topic. Finally I will be talking about his personal achievements, books written, and how he has been a companion to some of the American Presidents. William Franklin Graham Jr. was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 17, 1918. Graham was raised on a dairy farm by William Franklin (deceased 1962) and Morrow Coffey Graham (deceased 1981). In 1943 he married his wife Ruth McCue Bell, and had four children Virginia 1945, Anne Morrow 1948, Ruth Bell 1950, William Franklin, Jr. 1952, and Nelson Edman 1958. (Billy Graham Best Sellers, 1999) Billy Graham told Time Magazine in one article about his life before becoming a preacher. "I lived on a farm. The only difference was I had to get up early in the morning and go milk cows. When I came back from school that day, I had to milk those same cows. There were about twenty cows I had to milk. By hand. That was before they had those machines. I loved being a farmer. But God called me to this work that I'm in now. I knew it was God calling. I said, "Yes. I will follow what God wants me to do." And so I went to two or three schools to get education.

From an early age Jones was exposed to religion, specifically the Pentecostal sect of Christianity. With no father figure to look up to he turned to the pastors in his church for a role model. Watching the local pastors speak moved Jones; he id...
“The best way to predict the future is to create it”. Abraham Lincoln, one of the most influential leaders of all time, quoted this. Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was a man who would stop at nothing to do the right thing. Abraham achieved many extraordinary things through out his life. During his time as president Lincoln abolished slavery, supported the community by signing many acts, had many useful and great qualities and inspired many of us in a very positive way, which is why he should definitely be at the top of the most influential leaders of all time list.
Different ideas were being expressed through The Second Great Awakening. The religious focus was now turning to God’s mercy and benevolence, which sparked other beliefs and ideas. People started believing that they could control their own fate. Worship services consisted of singing hymns and personal testimonies to make it more emotional. Many found religion as a soft comfort during the difficulties of this time period. Charles Finney was one of the most effective evangelists of the time. He entertained and edified, preached on conviction, repentance, and reformation (DOC B). The belief that parents could contribute to their child’s salvation led women to want to spiritually educate their children. Spiritually educating led to the belief that education was important. Schools were started to educate children while they were young. Many lower-class families had to go to high extremes to put their children in school. Children were needed to help work in the homes, but families saw that education was important, and they would allow their children to attend half a day or more of schooling (DOC E). Religion and education was becoming better known throughout society. America saw they needed to apply higher principles to gain benefits of the highest physical, intellectual, and moral education in order to be a gre...

Consequently, proof of this occurred by the time he retired in 2005; reportedly he had preached to 215 million inhabitants in more than 185 countries, and Graham likely addressed different people face-to-face than anyone in history. He set multiple attendance records, including 1,120,000 in Seoul in 1973 (at that time, possibly the largest religious gathering on record (Evans,
Sylvester Graham was born on July 5, 1794 in Connecticut, U.S. His parents were John Graham (1722-1796) and Ruth King Graham (1755-1834) along with ten biological older siblings and five-step siblings. Unfortunately when Graham was only a toddler, his father died on April 20 at the age of 74. When his father passed away, he did not leave a will for his family and so his property was divided equally to his second wife and his children. Ruth Graham became hysterical over the death of her husband which caused her to suffer from emotional and mental trauma. She was unfit to take care of her youngest son, Graham grew up in different households for the majority of his childhood.
I think Adolf Hitler is the one. Adolf Hitler was one of the 20th century’s most powerful dictators. He was responsible for World War II and the death of millions. Hitler saw a nation in despair and used this as an opportunity to gain political power. He saw a nation of unemployed and hungry citizens and promised them economic prosperity in return for absolute power. Someone once said “The Nazis rose to power on the empty stomachs of the German people”. Although he did not live a very long life, during his time he caused such a great deal of death and destruction that his actions still have an effect on the world nearly 50 years later. I am sure that he is a great leader.
