This university will fully equip me for the career and life challenges I will face in the world, and provide me with the necessary skills to overcome them. Today’s leaders are not only strong academically but strive to achieve success in every aspect of their lives. This ambition appeared as I transitioned moving to America from Pakistan at a young age, to become an ambiguous school and community leader. I remained proactive in overcoming challenges to become the vice-president of my youth group, to achieve high honors and, most importantly, to not lose sight of who I am.
To become successful in anything in life, an immense amount of hard work is a necessity. This year I am the Youth Group Vice President but before that I was Secretary and even the Treasurer one year. I had to prove that I was capable of handling the responsibility that came with leadership. A leader lacking responsibility is inefficient; fortunately I have learned to become most efficient by constantly checking in with the executive board. My job involves keeping track of all aspects of the Youth Group and reporting back to the President. Weekly I check on the progress of all the officers and assign them new tasks. At times it is challenging juggling such a difficult task because the Youth Group is always wor...

...ed my love for this diverse world and provided me opportunities to learn from it. After this experience, I tried harder in school, participated in more activities and even joined the basketball team. Montclair State University is one of the few universities, which will allow me to interact with the diverse people throughout the world and continue my growth as a person.
Through the opportunities offered at Montclair State University, I will be able to apply my previous leadership, communication, and academic experiences to learn new skills to become a leader in this world. I believe Clark Atlanta University will prepare me for future leadership by creating and building new traits within me. I want the opportunity to prove that I can become someone significant, even with the guidance of my peers. By attending Clark Atlanta University, I will be able to learn the skills that a leader should possess, whether within my classes or within my community. During my junior year of high school I was involved in the “B.E.E. Club” which is a mentorship for young ladies that helps support freshman female students to achieve their goals. I was also actively involved in the “Fashion and Design Club” which advocates personal development through leadership, social etiquette, and corporate skill to build confidence, and poise.
Overall, I am glad that I had the opportunities growing up to attend different types of schools. They shaped me into the person that I am today and helped to make me successful, along with the fact that I am very competitive, take pride in what I do and take the time to learn how to work with others. I believe these traits have gotten me as far as I am
The narrator in “Battle Royal”, by Ralph Ellison, is too naive and meek to challenge his place in a society ruled by whites. He is a young, black man trapped in a world blighted with social inequality with limited opportunity to advance in life just because of his race. He is torn apart by his grandfather's advice and by his desire to please members of white society. Ellison uses satire and symbolism to depict the narrators struggle for equality and identity.
“Who’s going to step up?”. “Who’s going to change this?”. People ask these questions everyday. I realize that I have never truly thought about the defining characteristics of a leader. I was given a list of qualities and upon reading it, I proudly realized that I demonstrate leadership. But the important consideration should not be how I successfully match this definition, but instead why I do it. I was elected treasurer for the class of 2016, a student body elected official, and hold that position of responsibility by attending meetings weekly, promoting school activities (such as homecoming), and participating in student council planning and events as much as possible. I wanted to become treasurer because I wanted a say in decisions that impacted our class. I wanted to be recognized as an individual that my peers could come to with questions and concerns.
Throughout everyday tasks in the classroom, or outside of school, I step up and lead those who need to be led. I constantly find new opportunities to lead others and help the situation any way I can. Every summer the band has a marching band camp for a week straight that we must all attend. Being an experienced band member, I step up and assist all underclassmen and show then where to go and what they need to be doing. Instead of getting frustrated when giving the freshman directions, I am calm and collect and walk them step by step until they understand, something most leaders would not have time or patience for. With many plans to help others and lead within my community, I believe that I have what it takes to be a strong, and powerful leader for the National Honor Society.
Rutgers is a vibrant community accompanied by so much diversity; with the people, academics, and society. Despite the fact that Rutgers University; whether it's the New Brunswick, the Newark or the Camden campus seems to have a lot of offer, I believe that I have just as much to present
Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. But I had an incredible set of adults guiding me along the way, who taught me that being a leader was not doing everything myself, being a leader
In the play, Othello, by Shakespeare, there is a ferocious war going on. However, it is not the bloody war against the Turks that the audience anticipated. It is a more dangerous war than that: a psychological war that uses a person’s emotional state of mind and biggest fears against them. At the hands of all this is Iago, who stands by and watches his genius at work. Iago’s passion of war is what drove him to commit his acts of treachery, not his jealousy of Cassio nor his loathing of Othello. When he could not set sail to Cyprus with the other soldiers and participate in the war, he found a way to start a new war, one that he could be the general of. Through manipulation, he is able to start a psychological war that ends in bloodshed. His manipulation is the driving force of the play.
There is an African Proverb quoted “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” This quote resonates with much of my life and parallels my experience with Duke’s Team Fuqua culture. From the time I started my business school journey, I have experienced the community and support of Fuqua students through countless interactions. Sidney McLaurin coached me through applying to Management Leadership for Tomorrow’s (MLT) MBA Preparation Program. Erika Hines (’17) graciously opened her home to me during a school visit, and Noelle Kelly (’17) has spent many hours enlightening me on the HSM program and Durham. These three individuals helped shape my definition of Team Fuqua through their communal spirit, authenticity, and sacrificial nature. Among the many
In conclusion, I believe that I can offer a wealth of expertise and experience in contributing towards the continued development of a cohesive, dynamic and collaborative school that focuses on offering outstanding world class learning opportunities for all. I consider myself to be a good role model to students and staff alike and I am committed to leading by example. This, combined with my drive, infectious optimism and commitment to playing a full role within the school beyond those duties set out, make me a strong candidate for the post.
Liberty University is my dream school because of its solid Biblical foundation, opportunities for students, and excellent educational program. I have found all three of these qualities in my interaction with the university. I truly sense that Liberty wants what is best for its students both inside and outside of the classroom. In short, Liberty is my dream school because of its heart. The Honors Program at Liberty furthers my respect for Liberty by challenging its students and providing them with opportunities to succeed. Being accepted into the Liberty Honors Program would mean many things to me including preparing me for my future and giving me the chance to become a Champion for Christ. It would challenge and provide me with a close-knit Christian community, new growth opportunities, and a balance amidst the wide variety of new experiences. Being accepted into the Honors Program would further enable me to pursue and fulfill God’s purpose for my life.
To the Honors College, I hope to bring my ideas, experiences, and perspectives to identify problems and create solutions with other bright
It is my belief that anyone with a desire to change the world would be fortunate to work in education. By sharing my vision with others, and building upon my skills while seeking constant growth, I strive to take an approach to leadership that fosters an effective, nurturing educational environment for the entire school community. By creating this type of environment, as well as through embracing and enhancing my leadership strengths, it is my goal to contribute to society by inspiring people to become better not only as teachers and students, but as compassionate human beings.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
By attending New York University, since it has one of the finest business programs, I believe I will become even more successful, both academically and socially. I have enthusiasm and ambition, plus having good leadership skills, being a hard worker, and having great social networking skills. After going through a childhood with a rheumatoid arthritis father, and coming to a foreign country where I had knew very little of its language, I would and strive for and participate in any learning opportunities. I know that I am ready for the upcoming challenges and tasks. I strongly believe that no matter what kind of ordeals people will face, as long as they have the heart and will to do it right, they will succeed.
