From his childhood up until his death Al Capone lived a life full of gangs and violence. Being part of a gang started early when he was in New York and spread into his life in Chicago, when he joined part of Torrios operation committing and conducting crimes. Capone was arrested a lot but lack of evidence almost always kept him out of jail; Capone was a sneaky, intelligent business man that ruled the streets of Chicago.
January 17, 1899 Alphonse Gabriel Capone was born to Gabriele and Teresina Capone (about.com). Capone was the fourth of nine children born in to the family. Capone’s mother and father emigrated from Naples, Italy and settled in Brooklyn, New York. Capone’s father was a barber, and his mother stayed home with the children (about.com). Capone was in two gangs as a child, Five Point Gang, and Brooklyn Dive (chicagohs.org). In sixth grade, Capone dropped out of school; some say it is because he beat up his teacher. Others say he dropped out to help earn money for his family. After dropping out of school, for whatever reason, Capone had quite a few different jobs. He was a candy store clerk, a pin boy at a bowling alley, a cutter at a book bindery, and a bouncer bartender at the Harvard Inn. While working at the Harvard Inn, Capone got into a fight with Frank Gallucio after Capone said a comment to Gallucio’s sister (about.com). During the fight Gallucio pulled out a knife and slashed Capones face. The cut left a scar leaving Capone with the nickname, Scarface.
Over the years, Al Capone had many mistresses. Capone got syphilis from a prostitute he had been with. Capone had no idea he had gotten the disease because the symptoms of Syphilis disappear quickly. Not knowing that he had the disease, Capone never got treated...

...d from prison Capone went home to Palm Island Florida where it was relaxing and quiet. On January 21, 1947, Capone had an apoplectic stroke (chicagohs.org). Capone regained consciousness and began improving until on January 24 the pneumonia set in (http://www.chicagohs.org). The next day on January 25, Capone died from cardiac arrest. Capone was only forty-eight.
Capone was known by lots of names: Scarface, The Big Fella, Public Enemy Number One, Big Al. He was known as a kind man that was generously giving. He was known as a business man. He had a $62,000,000 in businesses averaging an income of $100,000 a week (Ocean View Publishing). He was also known as a murderer, killing many and ordering even more deaths. Capone was arrested many times but lack of evidence let him off the hook. Capone was a sneaky, intelligent business man that ruled the streets of Chicago.
