Your Strongest Selling Point Is?
As a writer, you are selling a service. In order to do so, you need to come up with selling points to convince people to use your service over that of your competition.
Experience as much success as possible; you need to understand your target audience in general. Every writer has a different target audience, which means it is up to you to figure out what drives and interests your target audience. This applies to both your written text and your qualities as a writer.
For example, a student looking for essays will want in-depth and well-researched text. A student will look for qualities in yourself such as the ability to stick to a deadline and a guarantee that your service will be private and confidential.

- Use this to build trust
Trust is another big factor in the quest for getting paid more. Clients want a writer they can trust and rely on. It is up to you to repeatedly prove to your clients that you can be trusted, and one of the easiest ways to go about this is to be reliable.
- Use trust to help you ask for more money
When you have proven you are trustworthy and have shown that you are reliable, ask for a modest pay increase. Do not make excuses for your request; simply say that you need it so that you may continue to dedicate as much time as possible to their projects without having to watch the clock.
What you are saying in essence is that you do a fantastic job because you dedicate a lot of time to your work. What you are intimating is that times have changed a little, and that you just need a little extra in order to continue working at the standard that you are.
If your client trusts and relies on you, then this will seem perfectly reasonable and will give you your pay increase. You now need to make a note of when you were given a pay increase, and set intervals at which you ask for further
I am more knowledgeable about invention, arrangement, style, and delivery, all in which create a masterful piece of text. A few examples, I have learned to organize and construct my thoughts and ideas clearer. I have been taught to use stronger transitions and focus more on the delivery and content of the body element of essays. Further, the instructions and advice I have received throughout this term have influenced my understanding of the purpose of writing. My outlook on writing has been modified by shifting my perception of writing from, writing to prove I am a good writer by perceiving it as using “fluffy” or BIG words to impress my audience. I grew to understanding that good writing’s purpose is to engage the writer by mind-striking ideas and arguments, which therefore will prove and title me as a “good writer”.
The focal point of Chapter 4 of Successful College Writing is on how to critically read and decipher text and visuals. It highlights the importance of not just looking at the surface of the words, but diving into their true meaning. Authors put every word and picture into their work for a reason, and it is your job to ensure that you do not fall victim to biases and false information. It is crucial to learn how to identify author's tones, opinions, and overall purpose in their writings. Learning how to analyze these patterns will better equip you in acquiring accurate information and also not adopting these deceptive techniques yourself.

An advertisement is a form of public writing in which the author uses writing strategies as a way to catch the attention of a reader and to persuade that reader to purchase what he or she is promoting. In order to create an effective advertisement, the author relies on the product’s credibility, uses reasons to convince the reader to buy what he/she is promoting, and attempts to appeal to the reader based on emotion. A way in which this can be achieved is through using three components of writing known as ethos, pathos and logos. As an example to illustrate how these strategies can be used as an effective method of persuasion, I have chosen to analyze an advertisement produced by a travel agency. In the ad, the author’s attempt is to use logos and pathos as his primary means of persuasion but touches on all three components of writing as a method of luring the reader into choosing Texas as the primary choice for a vacation destination. The author’s intent is to rely on this location to represent the travel agency as a source for planning the vacation.
My portfolio absolutely reflects my understanding of persuasive writing. Persuasive writing focuses on the ability to formulate an essay that takes an argumentative stance, but takes the opposition into consideration as well. My portfolio also represents the goals and objectives of persuasive writing. The essays I have written for this course demonstrate that I have certainly developed my critical thinking skills, and developed, or better yet, mastered my communication and personal responsibility skills; but, because of my occasional lack of analysis and issues with word choice, my writing process is not perfected.
Business Communication for Success describes good writing as characterized by “correctness, ease of reading, and attractiveness; and yet also meets the reader’s expectations and is clear, concise, efficient, and effective. The rhetorical elements (logos, ethos, and pathos) and cognate strategies (clarity, conciseness, arrangement, credibility, expectation, reference, tone, emphasis, and engagement) are goals that are achieved in good business writing” [McClean. S., 2010]. Outlined below are 5 of these strategies found in Chapter 4 that are used in business writing:
When you have been at a job for a while, it is normal to expect a raise. Many people miss out on a higher salary because they do not know how to ask for a raise. If you have put in the work and earn a raise, then you have to ask for it. By using the right strategy, you can increase the odds that your boss gives you a higher salary. Ask for a Raise When You Deserve It
For many, college-level writing seems like a very intimidating and foreign concept, which only a select few with natural talent can succeed in. However, in “The Inspired Writer vs. the Real Writer,” Sarah Allen argues that even the greatest authors struggle with their writing, and that writing well is not based on some innate talent. L. Lennie Irvin helps make college-level writing easier to understand in “What is ‘Academic’ Writing” by giving general guidelines on how one is expected to write in a college environment. Another helpful article is Mike Bunn’s piece, “How to Read Like A Writer,” in which he explains the process of reading a piece of text as if you were the author, asking questions about writing choices throughout the reading.
A Good Essay is More than Just Five Paragraphs This year in College Writing has been very interesting. I understand now that there is a lot more that goes into writing a paper than I first thought. I especially realize this when I look back at one of my first papers, which was the descriptive essay titled, "The Hidden Truth. " The first thing that pops into my mind when I look at this paper is my consideration of the kind of audience I have. I was assuming they were very or somewhat knowledgeable about the topic I chose.
...the readers just understand and be comprehensible about my words with no reason. Knowing and seeing each other between readers and writers would lead the essay into communication world. In this way, if we understand mechanism of persuasion and make the best us of that, it is going to be easy to draw interest and persuade readers.
readers and how they come to prove their points to their audience. Good writers are good
The topic for my real world negotiation is to come to an agreement with my supervisor for a promotion as well as an increased salary. I currently work as a student assistant at the student services Planning, Enrollment Management, and Student Affairs (PEMSA) department. My goal is to increase my hourly pay from $10.15 to $12.70, a 25% increase. Having worked in this department for three years, I have taken on tasks not part of my job description such as processing return mail, data entry, and supervision.
As a business owner and internet marketer, you need a way to market to your prospect. There are many ways to market, and almost all internet marketing methods have one thing in common. They all rely on writing, specifically writing copy. The art of writing copy is called copywriting. Copywriting is how you communicate with your prospect and learning how to copy write is one of the most important skills you can learn if you're doing business on the Internet.
Well, you want to be a resource for your clients and potential clients. Providing your readers and followers with valuable content is a great way to establish a relationship with them and set your brand up as an expert resource to look to when they have questions. It allows you to communicate with your clients without always trying to sell something to them.
Another critical strategy is to write with a clear sense of purpose and audience. Each academic field presents the college writer with specific writing styles and unique writing expectations. As stated by Johnson, “College level writing involves more than collecting information from sources and inserting information into your paper” (2009, para. 4)....
