In the film Which Way home, many useful characters explain their horrifying stories of their experiences coming towards the United States. In order for these children to survive these difficult obstacles, they must be strong, patient, have an idea of what to expect, and plan things out before coming. These are a few of the most important characteristics that helped these young immigrants survive the torturous travel to come this far. In order to bypass these obstacles, the children would always talk and think of their reasons and goals for coming to the United States, family, economic need, love, and happiness, were some of the main reasons most of these children were facing these dangers knowing that they had a 50/50 chance of making it alive. These children had a lot of courage to think of going this far knowing all the possible consequences. The Beta mobile unit provided water, medical care, and information they needed in order to survive. A comment made by a Beta participant was “I want you to be safe, don’t ever trust a smuggler because they kidnap you and sell you.” Memo Ramirez Garduza was a founder of the house of immigrants. The house of migrants is a shelter that is near the tracks that offers immigrants a place to rest before they continue on their trip. Memo helped the immigrants by giving them information of how they could get to the United States, gave them free food, and explained to them how they could hide from the officers.
