YETIS, MONSTER OR MYTH?
“Yetis are as pure and white as snow...
Yetis have a soft side that they don’t show...
Yeti this Yeti that, Yetis rule and u know that” - Capt. Terpin Timins
Introduction:
Yetis are creatures supposedly created from myth and fiction. They are large tempestuous creatures. Yetis can be classified in the same family as the Sasquatch and Big Foot. Many people believe that Yetis aren't real and are illusions of men who have claimed to have seen them. After researching them I want to say that Yetis are warm and cuddly but do not try to hug a Yeti.
I have chosen to write about Yetis because they are interesting and they seem to be magical. There is so little belief in magic and wonderment these days that the Yeti is one of the only characters that people believe in. I have spoken to many people about their opinions on Yetis and the Yeti way of life. Atleast half of the people who I have talked to deny the truth behind these indiginous nomad species.
What is a Yeti?
Contrary to popular belief Yetis are not carnivorous, they do not attack people unless provoked as many animals do to protect their territory, their food and their families. The highest population of Yetis is in the arctic or in cold climates. The Yeti civilization keeps itself hidden and camouflaged with layers of white fur and cave like homes. Like humans they nurture and raise their offspring until they are able to find their own prey and take care of itself. Yetis are omnivores and eat many different plants as well as meat, the impression that Yetis eat people has been derived from the fact that in the arctic there aren't many plants that cater to the Yeti food chain. Yetis have evolved from human like hominids. Yetis are human like in the characteristics that we share like the opposable thumb, a large brain, and the ability to stand erect.
Is there proof of Yeti life?
Yes, although it is not common knowledge there is proof of the Yeti, Yeti fossils have been recovered from many regions that were covered in ice at some point in time millions of years ago. Although the fossils were not complete and the Yeti body structures were obviously missing pieces there is no denying the Yeti presence.
In developed parts of the northern or southern arctic regions many locals claim to have had Yeti encounters.
Storytelling is as much part of the tradition of the Native community as it is their identity. Storytellers and their prophecies are used to navigate the modern world by aiding in the constant obstacles that continue to make Native people question themselves and their belief systems. The best way to explain this concept is by starting at the end.
legends about those wild half-human beasts who haunt the edges of our forests and lurk in the
Is Bigfoot really a mythical creature roaming the world? Nobody can answer that question, not if our scientist today. Bigfoot is a large, hairy, apelike creature resembling a yeti, there are found in Northwestern America. There is another name that Bigfoot is called and it’s Sasquatch. Some people believe in Bigfoot and try to find it. Others who think it’s a ridiculous idea to be searching for something that no one can find. There are others who are in the middle and others who just don’t care. There are evidence from films, eyewitnesses, photographs, hair sample, and footprints.
Many people became so interested that they did journals and even newspapers revolving around the beast. Peter Byrne, a famous researcher of Bigfoot, went on many travels to try and find Yeti and Bigfoot; he never found either, though he did have a gut feeling that Bigfoot was in quite
Maybe, one time you were camping in the woods. You saw something, lurking in the woods. You saw something unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in your life. You think it looked like the legendary Bigfoot. You know, the one you watched those Animal Planet shows on. You didn’t really believe what those guys were saying. You thought those guys were just talking crazy for thinking it was real. Maybe one time, you were on the lake. You saw something that looked like a log, swimming across the lake. You thought nothing of it. You didn’t think it might have been the Loch Ness Monster. It could have been the one they have the History Channel documentaries on. Maybe you saw a coyote looking thing attacking a farmers goat. You didn’t think much of it, thought you would be crazy to think it was a supposed “Chupacabra”. Cryptid animals have been a big part in American culture, from making TV shows about them to being a cultural phenomenon.
In addition, these devils are carnivores. These animals can also be scavengers. Although some people would expect them to be
The Inupiat, like other Arctic peoples, are mainly hunter gathers. Only men are hunters among the Inupiat. What they hunt depends on where they are located. The Nunamiut, who live inland, hunt caribou, grizzly bears, moose, and dall sheep, while the Tareumiut , the coastal people, hunt walrus, seals, whales, and in rare instances polar bears; however both groups are dependant on geese, ducks, rabbits and berries. Traditionally hunters traveled in dog sleds or canoes from place to place and used spears, harpoons, and bows as weapons Hunting is the single most important duty of any Inupiat man because of the scarcity of any other resources. It is the most reliable way to get subsistence in the environment in which the Inupiat live and thus a hunter must be skilled and lucky or his family will starve.
Throughout history man has searched for an explanation of our origins and why we are here. Many creation myths are attempts of our ancestors to do just that. I have found in reading many of these creation myths, that there is also an attempt to explain why human existence is imperfect. The following essay will compare and contrast four creation myths and their explanation of how mans imperfection came to be.
As the environment changes so does the Bigfoot. The Yeti, known as the legendary man of the Himalayas, is the Bigfoot of Nepal, China, and Siberia. Numerous descriptions state the Yeti resembles a primitive humanlike being (Gaffron, 52). Four major types of Bigfoot have been recorded, each one having its own distinct differences.
For the purposes of this discussion we will focus on the lives of the Inuit. The Inuit are a group of people often mischaracterized as Eskimos. They lived in the area of central and northeastern Canada and Greenland. There has been much discussion of the orignination of this group of people but the most recognized theory is that they crossed from northern Asia across thin bridge of land over the Bering Strait sometime around 6000-2000 BC. Many people mistakenly think that the Inuit and Native Americans are one in the same. It seems that the Inuit most likely came from Asia more likely than the Native Americans. Although both probably came to the Americas through the Bering Strait. Biological, cultural and dialect differences show the different origin. Much of this theory is supported due to the close resemblance of the Inuit to the Mongoloid races of Eastern Asia. Because of the harsh land and climate of the Arctic, this area was probably one of the last regions to be inhabited making the Inuit on of the earth’s younger cultures.
A myth is a traditional story that considers the history of people explaining some type of event that typically involves mystical beings or events. In "A Long Way Gone” the author provided many myths and legends such as “wild pigs”, “bra spider”, omen of the crow, the name ceremonies and so many more. Each story has it's only purpose, but in all I believe the purpose of each myth or legend is to teach a lesson, or to tell a story of things good or bad.
It’s an icy cold region, with barely any vegetation. There are harsh windstorms, which makes it incredibly hard to hunt. They have a lot of tools that make living in the Arctic easier, but I still find it the hardest, and worst area of Canada to live in.
One of the reasons I think stories such as fables are important to people is because they let people express complex ideas in an easy to understand fashion. The Search: To get started with my research on fables I looked up the definition of “fable”. I also asked my mother what she thought a fable was, and she ended up describing a fairy tale. I found out that fables were mostly stories revolving around animals acting out an event with a moral to it. Then I went to a website where all the fables were listed and just started reading all of them, listing the ones I wanted to write about.

The location of where the Eskimos is different from the rest. They lived in a very large region, the region expanded over 3,500 miles. The location of where this region was located was Greenland, a small portion of North America, and a small part of east Siberia. The tribe still exists today and lives around the same region. The climate of the Eskimos is very
