Yeliani Schwartz-Ojeda Incident

On August 11, 2014 in Orlando Sentinel by Desiree Stennett report on a case from the Department of Children and family on child-abuse on Three-year-old Yeliani Schwartz-Ojeda was living in Central Florida Shelter with her mother and brother; Maryann Schwartz was Twenty-two-year-old. The Department of Children and Family started their investigation in January 17, 2014 on Maryann Schwartz and two children. Anonymous tipster reported that Maryann slam her son into a crib multiplies time at that time her son was 1-year-old. The witness saw the little boy crying after the incident also witness Mrs. Schwartz punching her daughter in the arms and chest and hitting the son legs and arms, also seen Yeliani asking for other people in the shelter. This

incident was in documents in Department of Children and Family file. The Department of Children and Family investigator came the Central Florida Shelter, the investigator reporter put in the document the children seem happy with their mother, also the investigator only seen a scratch on the forehead, bite mark and mother explain the accident on the forehead and the bite. The Department of Children and Families did find any abuse so they close the case on Maryann Schwartz.
Maryann Schwartz was removed from her Chicago home as toddler from her parents’ home because she was abuse by her parents.

This abuse from her parents affected her as a child and as mother so experience of abuse has affect to abuse her children. There was not sign of abuse from March, April, May, and June with no abuse case. On August, Maryann Schwartz call in incident about her daughter, Yeliani Schwartz was involved in hit-and-run accident at Grandview Pointe Apartment in County of Orange. The police office found her was lying about the hit- and-run. Yeliani was badly injured they try to revive her three times still not pulse she pronounced dead at the site. Mary was charged with first-degree murder of her daughter, Yeliani

Schwartz.

Child abuse is child neglect by a parent or guardian or mistreatment by adults or caregiver in their lives.

Child abuse can be emotional, physical or sexual abuse and medical. The overview of child abuse are neglect abuse when children aren't providing shelter, food, supervision, affection or education, medical care this child is called neglect abuse. Physical abuse when a child or child is physically harmed or injured by another person is called physical abuse. Emotional abuse when a child or child ignoring are isolating rejecting from a child or child from their peers also low esteems is called emotional abuse. Medical abuse when a child or child someone making sick also puts child or children in danger situation to require medical attention. Sexual abuse when a child or children are engaging in sexual intercourse with an adult as a minor, such as fondling and exposure the child genital.

Symptoms of child abuse are when child or children are scared to tell about their abuse. Child or children can be confused or ashamed of what the abuser did to them in a private area. Also the child can be afraid to tell anyone because abuser can be their parent or parents, family friend, and or other relative in the family, such as brother, sister uncle, aunt, cousin, grandmother or grandfather. Here some signs of child abuse: Change in behaviors-anger, hostility, attempts to run away, attempt at suicide, doesn’t want to go home, depression, act out in public or school, lack of friends, and

not going to school.
Neglect symptoms and signs of children that get abuse: Always hungry, hiding food for later in the day, under weight, hygiene very poor, absent from school a lot, wearing the same clothing for the next day, and lack of medical care for the child or children. Physical symptoms and signs of children that getting abused: Lots of bruises on the child's body, lots burn mark unexplained on child or children body. Broken body parts such leg, arm, hand and etc. and no medical excuse for incidents. Emotional symptoms and signs of children that getting abused: symptoms and signs of children that getting abuse. Scare of their parents or adults, not want to return home to their parents, loneliness, low-self-esteem, and talk less to their peers and teachers. Sexual symptoms and signs of children that getting abuse: Discharge from their private area, bruises in their private area, bloody underwear, bloody stool, walk different, pain in their private area, and go to the bathroom a lot. Medical symptoms and signs of children that getting abuse: Giving unnecessary medicine, giving to a child or children, lying about their diagnosis of sickness, and always at the doctor with the child or children.
The guidelines for reporting a child or children of abuse case; any teachers or caregivers’ professionals have the right to report a child or children suspects of child abuse to the National Child Abuse Hotline the number is [phone] and Prevent Child Abuse American the number is [phone]. Also can call 911 for emergency or offer a parent education class or a support group to help the parent or parents with their behavior. The symptoms and signs that the parent or parents are showing: Blame the child or children for different situation that happen in the home. Always have a negative word for their child or children. Never have any problems at home with their child or children. They have little contacted with their child or children at home or school. Having lots of mood swing with their child or children, such as happy than sad all the time with their emotions. Have no recollection of their child or children injuries in how it happens to them. Give harsh promise to their child or children when they are doing something wrong in their eyes.
Reason why people become abusive toward a child or children: Parent or parents and caregivers may have a mental illness or physical stress in their lives. Second, reason because violence involved the child or children parents cause them to be abusive to their children. Third, reason is money problems not providing items needed in the household, such as foods, clothes, personal items and etc. Also that cause abusive has been homeless living in the street. Four, have a jealous toward other people because the child or children getting attention from their teachers, relatives, and peers. Fifth, having both parents is not working to provide for their family.
Complications among children when they are abused it called mental emotional abuse in children and goes into their adult years later in life. Also result in different behaviors and physical situations in life. For examples are physical effect is disabilities in learning, abuse of drugs, hyperactivity disorder, and death. Emotional effect is problems in the classroom, self abuse, no people skills, abusive to their peers and suicide thought. The Behavioral effect on the child of the child or children is violent incident, and violent thought, and sexual.
