I initially thought this year’s yearbook was going to be a bit more challenging than last year, but less stressful; however, my expectation was very wrong. Sadly, this year was very stressful, but I was a Co-Chief Editor, so that definitely added to the stress. This year I expected I would contribute by talking to staff members, answering questions, and checking a few spreads on the weekends or nightly. I assumed Katie and I would split the final checks and each of us goes around helping staff members.
My actual work on the book went way beyond my initial expectations. At many times in the school year I became very flustered with how many checks I had to do nightly or over the weekend. One night I took home about fifteen spreads to check the

Some leadership skills that yearbook has allowed to me acquire is: effective communication, problem solving, honesty, positivity, and constructive criticism. In my future, I am planning to become an elementary school teacher; in order to be a teacher, you always have to be a leader, especially with younger kids. These skills will help me to become an efficient and helpful teacher. All of the leadership skills I learned are so beneficial and helpful, but constructive criticism stands out above all. If it wasn’t for everybody, I don’t know if we could have gotten our book done on time. The two people who really have been most helpful to me specifically is Grace and Mrs. Powell. During deadlines, I would become swamped with spreads to check and spent so many hours reading the spreads. Even though I wish I could, there was no possible way for me to catch every single little mistake after reading spreads for hours. Having Grace as accuracy check really helped me to catch more mistakes, and she would even help me with copy checks when I was really swamped with spreads. Mrs. Powell has been very helpful because ever since my freshman year, she has put in so much time, passion and energy into yearbook that she didn’t have to. She helped me by seeing my passion for yearbook and allowing me to become Co-Chief Editor and believing in me. This year, anytime she noticed I was stressed she would try her absolute best to help me with whatever I needed, and always thanked me for helping even if it was the smallest task. While most students have an interest in sports or academics, my interest lies within a different category; yearbook. Being on the River Bluff High School yearbook staff has become such an dominant and meaningful part to my life that I would feel incomplete if I did not share my story.
Before taking the StrengthsFinder® assessment I didn’t know what type of leader I was, but I felt I had leadership traits that I could not describe. After answering several questions from the Clifton StrengthsFinder® 2.0, I found out my top five strengths. These strengths consist of individualization, arranger, learner, input and responsibility. The purpose of this paper is to go over my top five strengths to talk about which four domains of leadership these strengths fall under, how class material is applied, and the actions to best utilize my strengths.
... the value of organization and planning. The structure provided by the instructor truly helped me break down very large projects into smaller, more approachable assignments. For example, for each essay due, there were smaller deadlines that needed to be met. As I kept up with those smaller assignments, the actual large due date was not intimidating and I was able to handle the stress better. I will definitely use this approach in my future academic writing assignments.

Personally I like our school, and if there is things I enjoy I can put that into yearbook and make it more enjoyable for students! Yearbook is something for students to look back at when school is out, and if more students enjoy it, it will have a better representation which will make it more representable for our school.
The best leadership accomplishment that demonstrates my potential to make significant contributions to the campus community and broader society is cheerleading. Cheerleading has made a huge impact on my life and has created many opportunities for me. It has paved the way for my high school career. Cheerleading provided me with opportunities to lead, volunteer, perform and show the athletic ability of our squad.
Most of the things that I have learned of that greater importance are skills that have what it takes to literally last an entire life time. To gain and strengthen skills is an important thing to do at any age; however, I see it as of even more importance to so at such a young age as myself. Like many others, I have lacked or struggled in certain areas or skills. However, it is taking chances and building on those skill areas through taking on experiences like this one that makes all the difference. One of those skills I have expanded on is my leadership skills. During this period, becoming aware and knowing the correct way of helping/leading the students to get to the end objective became extremely important. I had to become someone that would guide others to achieve the shared goal of officially becoming a NHCC student. Being somebody that people follow and look up to for answers is a big responsibility. Mrs. Plot, one of the hardest English teachers in Murray County High School, was my teacher that year. She was a very determined and driven teacher that did not tolerate her students to fail her class, even if they were lazy. I had heard horror stories from her former students, but she was nothing like they said she was. She was the only teacher that I have connected with all throughout school. I looked forward to her class every morning because she always made learning fun. Mrs. Plot gave out good advice about English, but she also gave me personal advice and was more of a friend to me. She always knew what to say to me when I had problems. She motivated me to do better with my writing; we went to a journalism class together every week that year. Mrs. Plot deepened my love for reading and writing. Without her, I would not be the kind of student I am today. On every assignment in her class, I got the most feedback and it helped me out a lot. It took me a long time to become a decent writer, but with her help she sped up the process. I put all of my effort in every single paper I have written, especially for her

When I joined Yearbook in freshman year, it was mostly a “oh heres a class i can take” and not “oh i really want to do this.” Once I was enrolled in the class and school started, I was second guessing my choice in choosing the class due to poor teaching by the adviser and a lack of feedback. I pushed through and made it to second semester, where we got a new advisor, my AVID teacher at the time. She helped us learn more about the program and how to use it as well as provided us with feedback. When enrolling for classes for sophomore year, I selected yearbook once again, and the same for junior year. During my junior year was when I was promoted from business manager to Vice President or Deputy editor, only because I was a junior I was told.

Within the first month of 9th grade, I decided that it would be good for college applications if I joined at school organization. I was chosen for my abilities in writing and before the end of September I was officially a member of the Yearbook Club. Let me begin by saying that I am very honored to be addressing the County High School Class of 2012 as students of this institution for the last time. We've spent these last four years creating some serious memories: four years of chieftain power, leaking roofs, questionable Homecoming skits, and musical principals. Four years of good teachers, bad teachers, new teachers, old teachers. Four years of youth, music, growing up and breaking free. I was really impressed on how well organized Alexia Hall was with the class she seem to know where she wanted to the class to be at the end of the semester. We were past out with the class policies and a syllabus of what we were going to do the whole semester. I thought this was very convenient so that there was no mixed signals in the group.
