Recommended: Scientific importance of Comets
Did you know that Comets are tiny pieces of stuff left over from when our Solar System was born? Philae’s Mission is very important to scientists because, he was on a comet. Since Philae was on a comet he could collect samples and other things scientists want to understand early history of the Solar System. The Philae Mission is important for scientific research, he took a long time to get there and he landed in a bad spot. It took Philae a decade to get to the comet, although he won't be staying long. According to the passage “A Success in Space” By Cameron Keady “ As soon as it landed, a 64 hour countdown began, when it ends Philae’s on board battery will run down”. This shows that Philae won’t last very long. Another example is “ After a more than 10.5 year voyage, this robotic lander has just set down onto the surface of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. On november 12 the day it landed Philae and its mothership Rosetta Spacecraft were roughly 500 million kilometers from …show more content…
The early data suggest that the lander is getting just 1.5 hours of sunlight per day. That is far less than the six to seven hours it would have gotten if it landed exactly on target-- which it did. At first”. This shows that he landed in a bad area and he isn’t getting enough sunlight. Another example is “On that first touchdown Philae hit the bull’s eye. But the lander didn’t stick it’s landing. Instead it bounced twice. In between the first and second touchdown, the lander shot a kilometer up into space. In fact it caught almost two hours of air time before it hit 67P again” (Yeager 15). This shows that he did land in the right spot the first time but he bounced and they don’t know where he landed now. To conclude Philae set down in a problematic area and they are trying to figure out
Hercules of 1997 got put together by one of the popular Disney directors, Ron Clements and John Musker. Their earlier works include “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and “The Great Mouse Detective,” which were movies that were astoundingly successful Disney movies that almost everyone enjoyed watching. Hercules without a doubt is one of my top Disney favourite movies, because of its really pop and melodious songs, and its simple yet very intricate plotline.
It was November 12 when spacecraft Rosetta caught up with the comet called Churyumov-Gerasimenko better know as 67P (Lauren, 2014). The journey took 6.4 billion miles to complete (Lauren, 2014). Also Rosetta sent a lander called Philae to explore the comet and take picture among other things (Lauren, 2014). Interestingly enough when the media reported the comet landing I thing is trumped Kim kardashian attempt at breaking the internet with her nude photos which the media was cover at about the same time as the comet landing. With all that being said you might be asking why should I care? You should care about this comet because comets came from and can tell us about our solar system, also there has not been any unique and important mission as this one, further more it might be the last space mission we get to experience for a while. Now I am going to get in to what comets are and how they got here and talk a little bit
The Mariner 10 mission was the spacecraft that has been credited with finding out more about Venus and Mercury. Being a mission of many firsts, this mission left a mark on science history. Many experiments were performed and tested, setting a foundation for future missions. The events that took place in this mission helped NASA and other scientists who study space learn more about our neighboring planets. Mariner 10 was the foundation for other Mercury missions and definitely contributed greatly towards science
Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. He made an impact because he put his mind to the things he wanted to do and he did it. He worked hard and when he said he was the man to walk on the moon he meant it. I feel he made a huge impact because he helps us learn and think about when we put our mind to things we need to stick with what we said and even if it's hard we still need to do it.
Cleopatra's family were the rulers of Egypt for more than 100 years before she was born around 69 B.C. The stories and myths surrounding Cleopatra's life inspired people to write a number of books, movies and plays, including Antony and Cleopatra by Shakespeare. Cleopatra has become one of the most well known ancient Egyptians.
The Venus of Willendorf is one of the earliest sculptures of the body made by humans during the Paleolithic era. She was made from limestone native to her location and covered with red orche. Despite standing only 4.4 inches, the purpose of the Venus of Willendorf is widely debated. Some will say the exaggerated breasts, navel, and vulva connects her to fertility as a representation of a mother goddess. Others, such as those in my class, believe her to be a figure of body image. The stumpy female figure features hanging breasts, an obese middle and belly, and distinct buttocks in all, represents a realistic form of a severely overweight woman. Due to the hash ice-age environment of where she’s from leads one to believe fatness and fertility would have been highly desirable. Whether the sculpture was based on a fantasy or a real life model the infatuations with the idea of self-acceptance through body
...tence of the Hubble Space Telescope is the many discoveries it has made. As well as discovering that Pluto is not a planet, Hubble also discovered evidence that other planets do not only orbit the sun, but other stars as well. Hubble was also the founder of dark energy, meaning that the expansion of the universe accelerates because of this force. Another amazing discovery made by Hubble is the actual age of the universe. The original age of the universe was thought to be 20 to 30 billion years until Hubble revealed the age to be about 13 to 14 billion years old.
Mythology is known as a collection of myths, mainly belonging to a specific religion or cultural tradition. Mythology is known worldwide and is passed down, usually orally, to the youth. Mythology cannot be proven to be completely true, due to the lack of verified written proof. The three in this section include; Hindu, Egypt, and African each has their own way of how the world was created.
Only 30 seconds of fuel remained when the lunar module, called the “Eagle,” landed on the surface of the moon at 5:18 PM CDT.
In Plato’s Theaetetus, Socrates examines the first definition of knowledge that theaetetus gives that knowledge is perception. Socrates gives us many example that both supports and refutes that knowledge is perception. The basic claim from Protagoras is that truth is based on the perception of every man. This means that things are to any person as they seem to that person. Socrates explains to us Protagoras’s view with the cold wind example. He say that through Protagoras theory, the wind is cold to the person that feels cold, and the wind is warm to the person that feels warm. Both “the wind is cold” and “the wind is war” is true according to Protagoras and it is based on the perception of the person. Then we learn from Socrates that if knowledge and truth is based on perception then everything that has perception has his own set of knowledge and truth. Also sense Protagoras not considering himself to be a god, and is on the same level of us then wouldn’t the truth and knowledge he definite in his doctrine only be his own set truth and knowledge for he only knows his own perspective.
Throughout the history of the world there have been a number of civilizations which have had a longstanding influence not only their own people and culture, but also on various other societies and civilizations. The Greek and Roman civilizations are two such civilizations. Both Greek and Roman influences have permeated societies and cultures besides their own. While there are many notable similarities between ancient Greek and Roman mythology and religion, there are likely also many differences in their origins, beliefs, and practices. Still, ancient Greek and Roman mythology and culture have influenced people of the world from the medieval ages up to the present. Indeed, ancient Greek and Roman mythology and culture have influenced world theology through the ages.
The findings in this book could easily be compared to real findings, throughout history we have been looking at finding proof for existence of life out in the universe and we have found several meteorites throughout times. Though they are not as significant as the discovery in the book where they are found during presidential elections and with fossils on it, but today when people are looking in space and saying our future lies there; reading the book has made everything just more interesting and exciting. "If this discovery is confirmed, it will surely be one of the most stunning insights into our universe that science has ever uncovered. Its implications are as far-reaching and awe-inspiring as can be imagined. Even as it promises answer to some of our oldest questions, it poses still others even more fundamental"
When becoming an expert at Roman Mythology you need to know when it began, when it got big how it ended. Also need to know a little of Greek Mythology. For when people mention mythology the first thing that comes to mind is Greek Mythology which comes Zeus and the Olympian Gods. Also like Perseus who had slayed the hydra. Which soon Religion became big in Rome. In which they had to get from Greek because they thought that the Greek gods where big but need new names that would be neat in their eyes.
In the article Acropolis by David Sacks, it says that the meaning of acropolis means “high-city” and in Ancient Greece the Athens was the best. the inhabitants of Greece lived mostly in the mountainous region where they were farther from the sea and the pirates that crossed it. Many people of high social standing wanted the acropolis of Athens for themselves, including the persians. they destroyed the beautiful city of Athen leaving it in ruins. So as a result many left the ruin as a reminder of what had happened. Many years later people started to rebuild the ruins and add more monument and temples to broaden the beauty of Athens. Then again the building stopped and the temples and buildings that were finished were used for something else.
The Love Story of Antony and Cleopatra The tragedy of Antony and Cleopatra can be said to have an overall effect of comical lightness. In this way, it is altogether different from the preceding tragedies, although the tragedy that leads to the death and destruction of Antony and Cleopatra is definitely a matter of choice rather than of circumstances that engulf the hero. Yet, ultimately, their tragic ending differs greatly from the ominous feeling of those that preceded it. Antony and Cleopatra concerns itself with typically distressing and grave imagery, most importantly the theme of permanent loss.
