Well after writing my introduction to this blog, I had the idea to drive down the road to my local honey hole if you want to call it that. I managed to catch some quality fish the last couple weeks and it's starting to seem as the bite I was on is slowing down. This is unfortunate, but I know there still is quality bluegills in there although they are eluding me.
Lately I have been testing out my very amateur fly fishing skills at this lake targeting bluegills and bass on the smaller side, but it is more of a pond than anything with how small it really is. Knowing that there truly is some trophy fish in this little suburban gem and I know it isn't secret at all, but I try to keep it on as much as a down low as I can do. In which it bothers

hopefully, because that would require me to actually catch a fish. So I showed up to lake X aka the hidden suburban gem down the road from my house. To my belief there were 3 cars at the access and to be honest kinda rattled me for a second, because I was being so low key about it. So I got my shit together and walked down the the waters edge since I was just gonna wade it ankle deep and cast a bobber and worm for anything that bites. Luckily the people there I actually knew and just like me they know the importance of keeping it low key to preserve what we have at our finger tips. So we ended up talking for the whole time I was there and while I was talking I would cast out the bobber and worm. We got to talking about boats, fishing (duh), the hidden gem, and fishing trips. It really makes you realize that catching fish isn't the most important thing while out fishing. It is the bonding you have with your friends and family and the memories you make. Actually though during the middle of our conversation my bobber went down! So I did my thing, set the hook, and caught a nice little bass on the new rod and reel. Im defintly glad I went with the medium, otherwise that dink of a bass would have kicked my ass on the medium
The documentary Blackfish by Gabriela Cowperthwaite is a gripping documentary about orca whales in captivity at SeaWorld and other sea parks around the world that shows the disturbing effects that can be caused from having these animals in a place where they shouldn’t be.
Bass fishing, at present, is considered as America’s number one freshwater sport, its industry is in fact seventy percent higher in growth compared to other types of fishing activities. Bass is a fish that belongs to the Serranidae family or sea basses and the Centrarchidae or the black basses. This family of perchlike fishes are large and oblong with compressed bodies that dwell in warm and temperate seas throughout
The first genetically modified animal has been given the green light to reach dinner plates.
Blackfish tells the story of Tilikum, a performing killer whale that killed several people while in captivity. Blackfish tells the story of Tilikum, a performing killer whale that killed several people while in captivity. Along the way, director-producer Gabriela Cowperthwaite compiles shocking footage and emotional interviews to explore the creature’s extraordinary nature, the species’ cruel treatment in captivity, the lives and losses of the trainers and the pressures brought to bear by the multi-billion dollar sea-park industry. In black fish the information they used is misleading and untruthful and is meant to pull at your emotions.
I could not believe I caught a fish all by myself! His proud chuckle made me proud too. I remember posing to take the picture with my dad holding my prized first fish because I did not want to touch it. The fish was humongous or so I thought until I saw the one my brother caught ten minutes later.
Introduction: The novel Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan follows the hapless journey of twelve Bay Area tourists destined for Burma, accompanied by the ghost of their dear friend Bibi Chen, who died under “mysterious circumstances” just before the departure. The journey continues in a downward spiral until eleven of the tourists go out on a misty lake one morning and disappear. Miss Chen, the omniscient voice of the book, is caught between two worlds and is along for this journey. It isn’t until the end of the book that readers realize many events that occur are actually a metaphor for human relations; and the central theme is that the line between reality and fantasy can be tricky to discern, and things can be vastly different from
Open water fishing is pretty much self-explanatory but open water fishing is what most people do because it doesn’t need a lot of equipment. Open water fishing is usually done between late or early spring depending on
Two friends go out for lunch to their usual favorite sushi restaurant. They are seated and given their menus, they knew they were going to get their usual but noticed the prices have increased. Prices have gone up, and some replaced with imitation fish meat, since the last time they ate there. What might have caused this? Due the demand of fish, the price for them also increases. It’s a simple supply and demand logic, but not only is it due to the demand for these fish, it can also be due to their rareness. Over-fishing can cause what is rare and which fish species isn’t. Commercial fishing may cause fish species to go extinct, or bring in new types of fish to take the place of the other fish. In tuna we
In The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister tells how a beautiful, extraordinary, yet, self-centered blue fish learns that being beautiful isn’t the key to happiness. The blue fish came to find this lesson when he lost his friends. Pfister takes a simple ocean setting and explores the consequences of an individual’s arrogance toward their peers, the process of humbling of oneself, and the tremendous reward one feels when they learn to share. The story achieves these morals by the author’s use of detailed imager and also, the influence of minor characters on the antihero in order to reveal to the audience the true thematic message; selfish actions bring true happiness.
One of the the quickest ways to get up to local speed is a simple trip to one of the local fishing supply stores. And that's not to include some of the easier-to-find big box retailers that while offering the tackle and supplies you might require are generally lacking in the local
Salmon are in huge demand all over the world. In 2014, over 146,000 were caught statewide. Even though it may seem as though catching all of these salmon will cause them to go endangered, they still thrive. There are many ways that humans also contribute to keeping the salmon population high. We raise them ourselves and also help out the ones in the wild. One of the ways we do this is by creating fish ladders. Fish ladders are like stairs underwater that fish like salmon can use to get over an obstacle that is in the way. Salmon can travel up to 1,000 miles and can not be stopped by different things such as water falls for dams. These ladders have helped them out tremendously.
Throughout the semester while learning about multiple ethnicities and cultures, there were a few main concepts that were frequently repeated in the text or films viewed. Black Fish is a documentary released by Gabriela Cowperthwaite on July 19, 2013. The main purpose of this documentary was to expose the cruelty animals experience by being locked up in Sea World. Mainly, this film focuses on Orcas; this is because most people attend sea world to watch these wild animal perform shows. Specifically, the footage lights up Tilikum, a wild orca who was related to the death of three trainers, which by the way were blamed for their own murder. Tilikum was cruelty trained in order to obey and perform the huge shows Sea World makes by using these animals. In the film the use of footage and videos recorder by people who have attended these shows are used, which makes the film reliable and explicit.
Fish protein has been a mainstay for the human diet for centuries. However, aquaculture, which is the practice of raising fish such as salmon in controlled conditions, as opposed to the commercial fishing industry, which is procurement of wild fish from their natural environment, made its debut in the United States as a commercial enterprise in the late 1970’s according to the Eco - Justice Marketplace Project.(n.d.). This mode of salmon procurement began to develop in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, as a response to the declining populations of native wild fish such as salmon and trout.
For those who are curious about fishing, but never seem to have any luck, here are a few simple guidelines to follow which will have you reeling them in in no time. Catching fish can be really easy to do if one has the correct equipment, location, weather, and presentation.
