what would be expected in an 85-year-old man, and there were characteristics of someone being in the early stages of Alzheimer's.”(2) Says forensic pathologist Dr.Bennet Omalu. This is part of what happens in CTE. Now CTE is a progressive disease found in people who have suffered from severe brain trauma.
This is why most CTE cases are found in football players, because of the many blows they receive. They are not just found in football players though, there have been some reported cases of other athletes having CTE such as soccer players. Waters had received many many concussions throughout the years. Some say that he had stopped counting after receiving his fifthteenth concussion.
“ Andre was one of the nicest, most compassionate people you could ever meet. “ (1) This is just a few of the many things that described Andre Waters and the amazing things he did in life. Andre was severly depressed, some think that the CTE might have cause his deppresion leading to his suicide, and others don’t.
Some of his family member such as his niece had noticed things were wrong. She said that she always knew her uncle was depressed but he never sought medical help or medication for it. "I saw him suffer in silence and I saw him struggle to find peace and find rest and that was what I was praying for him to get."(3) They knew that Andre had been depressed for years because of all sorts of things that were happening in his life. There were custody battles going on,and he had later lost his job and had to move down to coaching division 2 players
. "The emotional toll could be an absolute train wreck going on inside a person, and you just don't see that.”(3) Andre was a person that always tried to help others and put them before himself. That is why know one had suspected he would ever do something like this because just days before his death he was talking on the phone with others about all their upcoming things and how he would be supporting them. All of the horrible things that were happening in his life is what cause his depression. There are not many articles that go into detail or even talk about Andre’s symptoms at all. So we might not ever know whether or not his CTE is what caused his depression. Even though he was diagnosed with CTE most believe that football is not what killed him, it was everything else. http://www.mypalmbeachpost.com/sports/football/andre-waters-loved-ones-denounce-portrayal-him-concussion-movie/d3WEVrHRAtPLhYVQzv83NL/ http://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=2734941 http://www.sptimes.com/2006/12/11/Sports/The_mysterious_death_.shtml
Football players can suffer from TBIs, which could ultimately lead to the development of CTE.... ... middle of paper ... ... It was stated in the Frontline episode, “As long as the NFL dismissed claims [of TBI and CTE] parents continued to [allow] their children to play football without knowing the repercussions.”
The determinants of Social Exclusion, Social Support and Stress were all impacted within the movie. All posing mostly negative risk factors to his life.
Spike Lee is a filmmaker who has generated numerous controversial films that unapologetically bring delicate social issuest o the media forefront. He honestly portrays life's societal obstacles. He challenges the public to cogitate on the world's glitches and disunion. Spike Lee created a name for himself with films such as Do the Right Thing (1989) and Malcolm X (1992), and with documentaries such as 4 Little Girls (1997) and When the Levees Broke (2006). Lee’s goal was to portray African Americans in a more accurate light. Even today Lee still produces films that directly address modern society's most significant historical movements and episodes. His productions analyze themes of race and discrimination. His work can be analyzed in academic studies such as Philosophy, African Studies, and literary concepts. I am interested in Spike Lee because his craft and career choice is somewhat similar to my future career endeavors. He not only exalted his skills to produce films but he broke barriers of stereotypical Hollywood movies. His works address issues in society such as political, racial, and environmental influences on African American culture. Given that society has evolved into a technology dependent culture; using this talent to visibly shed light to these concerns is an ability I hope to obtain one day.
On the morning of April 20, 1999, Eric Davis Harris and Dylan Bennet Klebold went into the Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, and went on a rampage killing spree leaving 12 students and 1 teacher dead and over 20 people injured before killing themselves. This crime is known as one of the most deadliest school massacres in the United States history (Pittaro).
When Jack arrived at the Overlook hotel it was evident that he had suffered from substance abuse in the past. Jack had once been a heavy alcoholic. This addiction had caused him to inflict violence upon his child in a violent rage. During this rage he snatched his son up by the arm and broke it. Although it is not clear, this could have been a sign that he was manic depressant. His mania could have been storms of violent rage instead of a constant high. In the beginning of the movie the viewer learns that Jack is a writer. This “creative” career” also has an important impact on his depression because his career can be up or down. In many cases, people who have careers in the arts such as writing, art, or acting can experience times of insecurity, which can induce a depressive state. This new change allowed Jack to start fresh and enable him to write with no distractions.

The Department of Justice issued an investigation in order to understand the basis of the shooting and to decide whether or not to charge Darren Wilson in the shooting. Despite the evidence and the investigation which portrayed the shooting as an act of self- defense, the shooting still remains controversial.
The number of concussions in professional and amateur football has been rising and has sparked much controversy in recent years. These concussions are most likely linked with disease and even the deaths of some pro and semi-pro football players. New research is attempting to solve the problem but the issue is still prevalent in football today.

As CTE progresses, it can cause memory loss, impulsive and erratic behavior, difficulty with balance, impaired judgment, and behavioral disturbances including aggression, depression, and increased suicidality. Ultimately, CTE progresses to the onset of dementia. A similar accumulation of tau protein is also seen in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. CTE symptoms can manifest months or years after brain trauma, and a definitive diagnosis of CTE can only be made after death by analyzing brain tissue at autopsy. The CDC estimates that up to 3.8 million concussions occur each year, with up to ten percent of high school athletes suffering from post-concussion syndrome.

Other sports such as: snow skiing and bicycling had the most reports for a non team sport. Concussions can happen to anyone, so it’s important to know how to prevent it, and how to treat it. I recently experienced a concussion. The headaches and the dizziness were rasping, it took days for the dizziness to fade. I still experience headaches, thankfully, they’re mild. Sadly, I can’t remember anything that happened on the day I got hit. That’s probably the worst part. I’am not fully recovered, but the doctor said I could go back to playing basketball. However, I have to take it easy. I would not want anyone to experience a concussion. In other words, if you use your head, you can protect it.
