When the term roadkill is used, there isn’t pretty imagery associated with it. Thoughts of mangled deer and flattened rabbits aren’t the kind of thing you want to think about on a regular, especially when it comes to food. This doesn’t mean people do not eat roadkill, but that category of people is small because the majority of the population can’t get past the meat's origins. In terms of ethics, roadkill is a perfectly fine source of meat. It was accidental food, not the intentional slaughtering of cows or pigs. Most of the smaller animals are definitely unsalvageable but the big game like deer or elk is what really matters when deciding if roadkill is a viable food source.
