Global warming was once of the most controversial topics in our society. There were those who believed man-made climate change was merely fiction with no facts to back it up. Others were strong believers and knew that the drastic climate changes were only getting worse year by year. Today, majority of the people have now come to see the sad truth: greenhouse gases created by cars and power plants are destroying our beautiful planet. The article states that the drastic climate changes in the world aide in increasing the amount of global poverty, reducing the amount of food, and ultimately slowing down any growth in the economy.
One of the main problems in the society discussed in this article is that if global warming continues at the rate it is currently going, the internal food supply will be in a great risk. Specifically, people in third world countries who already suffer from poverty and a lack of food are in even greater risk than the rest of the world. Unfortunaly, those who live in poorer nations, and have very little connection to the cause of global warming, suffer the most consequences. Farmers in nations with hotter climates for example, are finding it very difficult to maintain with the high demand for food. To reduce global warming, the world – not just some or few nations—must make drastic cuts in the amount of greenhouse gases they release into the air. There are several ways to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases released into the air. One way includes using more eco-friendly cars and products in nations. Another way is to educate less economically developed countries about eco-friendly products and help them gain access to these products as well. By becoming educated and reducing the amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, the world can serverly reduce climate change and ultimately reduce poverty and world
