Worldview Reflection
I began this course thinking my worldview was that of a Christian Theist, as I had come to discover, as the course progressed, my worldview was a mixed bag of beliefs outside the elementary belief of Christian Theism. I was not disheartened by this finding, but surprised. The realization then set in that I was uneducated or did not know God like I thought. In fact my beliefs appeared to be more influenced by society than the deity of God. Fortunately, this is a learning experience intended to bring me closer to the truths of Christianity and an understanding of the beliefs of others.
What Is The Prime Reality, The Really Real?
The really real is God, and knowing he is sovereign (Sire, 2009, p. 30) one can understand that he is in control and will always be interested in his creations, being man and the universe. Although I do not agree with the prime reality of Deism where God transitions over to the first cause of everything (Sire, 2009, p. 51), I can understand how some may think this. With the state of the world today human reason (Sire, 2009, p. 48) tells us that either God is only in nature (Sire, 2009, p. 50) or does not exist at all or else he would step in and stop acts of violence and other forms of human tragedy.
God chooses not to step in the middle of man’s affairs simply because he gave us the free will to choose right from wrong; therefore we are left to our own devices. Only through the power of prayer will God intervene. Sometimes his answers are not what we want to hear or not at all. It is easy to understand how a person could progress from Deism to the nothingness of Nihilism (Sire, 2009, p. 94) and to the equivalency of God (Sire, 2009, p. 179) in the New Age, where God doesn’t...

...lemental biblical Christianity has been twisted by both Catholics and Protestants dating back to the time of the Reformation and the Roman Emperor Constantine. As a result various denominations and belief systems have evolved throughout the centuries.
My own sister-in-law, who was once Christian, broke away from the belief of Christianity and became Wiccan. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in metaphysics and serves as a metaphysical priestess and counselor. She does not hold back as to why she changed her beliefs; man has bastardized Christianity for her. Our God continually gets a bad rap mainly out of the ignorance of others, only if they were shown the true story, maybe then these other belief systems would not exist or would be less believable.

Christianity has gone through many phases, but has primarily become characterized by the way of the heart, especially in Catholicism. The way of the heart has lead lots of people to become disillusioned with the faith, and to abandon it in pursuit of something a bit more individualized, like
The problem of reconciling an omnipotent, perfectly just, perfectly benevolent god with a world full of evil and suffering has plagued believers since the beginning of religious thought. Atheists often site this paradox in order to demonstrate that such a god cannot exist and, therefore, that theism is an invalid position. Theodicy is a branch of philosophy that seeks to defend religion by reconciling the supposed existence of an omnipotent, perfectly just God with the presence of evil and suffering in the world. In fact, the word “theodicy” consists of the Greek words “theos,” or God, and “dike,” or justice (Knox 1981, 1). Thus, theodicy seeks to find a sense of divine justice in a world filled with suffering.
Many people would not believe that worldview would be involved in the topic of work, but it certainly is. Worldview stretches throughout almost every facet of our lives and is even an intricate part of work. Christian and secular viewpoints differ immensely when it comes to work. Many Christians believe that work is an intricate part of God’s plan for mankind while the secular viewpoint sees it as more of a personal, everyday activity the serves no more of a purpose that that of personal success. The secular worldview has distorted the context of work and only the Christian worldview can redeem it to its original context.
The theistic view states that there is in fact a creator of the universe and he does intervene in our lives. It is more logical to assume that there is a “force” that had to start the whole
Because of its polytheistic myths, Christians have tried to veer away from admittedly attending to their interests
I would like to explore one of the questions posed to us by Professor which is “How can we make the positive aspects of postmodernism work in our favor?” Or even more specifically, the positive and neutral elements of postmodernism, work in the favor of the Christian worldview and thought. We will start by first exploring the basic tenants of postmodernism and a brief history of where it has been and where it is currently, revealing multiple advantages for the Christian worldview in the engagement of a postmodern.
...as Roman Catholic and there was Protestantism. The Protestants differ because they put more emphasis on the exact translation of the words of God. They take the bible literally and believe in the words of God. For the most part, only the Holy Roman Empire converted to Protestantism while in the rest of Europe they remained Roman Catholic.(Lord, 96-99,103-108)
“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world” (Lewis, 1994, p. 91). Throughout history man has had to struggle with the problem of evil. It is one of the greatest problems of the world. Unquestionably, there is no greater challenge to man’s faith then the existence of evil and a suffering world. The problem can be stated simply: If God is an all-knowing and all-loving God, how can He allow evil? If God is so good, how can He allow such bad things to happen? Why does He allow bad things to happen to good people? These are fundamental questions that many Christians and non-Christians set out to answer.
Everyone has a worldview and a way they see life. Christian teachers should be willing to use their own biblical worldview to help the students in class develop a strong set of beliefs by integrating biblical truths into their lessons daily and encouraging their students to apply what they learn in class to not only their biblical worldview, but to their life.
Common misconceptions about God run rampant. Some believe He sins just as humans do. Others believe he craves the destruction of mankind. However, in reality, a righteous God exists, a Lord who tests His subjects' faith, a Ruler who controls all. People often contest that God holds no power over the earth. However, God's sovereignty remains evident in that countries fall when He decides to disestablish them. The fact that He disciplines the profane and prospers the deserving displays His uprightness. Though afflictions will come, people must persevere and continue to look towards God. Even though life appears hopeless at times, God remains all-powerful. His love for His followers remains everlasting. His control over the earth endures forever.
For sure, for sure. I don’t know that I could ever see the Bible the same after this course! But it does indeed open me up to new approaches in my own analysis and study, as well as how I talk about the Bible moving forward. Best of all, My Faith has Survived!, and was even a bit enhanced.
It is believed that the origin of the Catholic church has started with the teachings of Jesus Christ, while the
Modern Christianity has done this since the early Roman Catholic Church. Originally, the faith was organized so that it would fit everyone within the empire. However, the Greek Orthodox would eventually break of because of how they interpreted the Bible differently. The most important break in tradition and interpretation was during the Reformation. At this point Christianity took on a whole new appearance. Even within the Protestant faith there are so many off chutes that some time it can be d...
Religion has been an area of doubt for me for many years. My faith in the Christian religion has wavered so much, yet there was so much I did not know. So I took a Bible and Literature class this semester. It was the best decision I could have ever made. I learned so much from studying the Bible as a piece of literature rather than a faith. It allowed me to question the teachings I learned as a young child, and I did not feel guilty for disagreeing with what I had learned. It has made me want to learn more and question more in order to experience the true passions behind religious faith.
When I first registered for this class I was excited to learn more about different religion but as time passed I started asking myself questions if this class is teaching what I thought it would. My answer was no. It started
