World War II was the most catastrophic was that human race had ever seen. This war last for about 6 years. It started with the Nazi’s attack on Poland and ended with Germany surrendering to the Allied Powers. World War II represented total war because it was a war between societies and everyone was a target. World War II introduced the use of the atomic weapons. The most destructive war in history left most of Europe and East Asia in shambles and the estimate number of 70 million humans who died. Two- thirds of the human who died were civilians who were targeted just to cause destruction. Germany who was under the leadership of Hitler. World War II, known as the largest armed conflict in history, began in Europe in the 1930s and led to effect many people. The war resulted in not only the involvement of more countries than any other war but also introduced powerful, new, nuclear weapons that also contributed to the most deaths. As Hitler rose to power in 1933 the Holocaust began, his quest for the ‘perfect’ race resulted in the use of concentration camps, which would help to create the largest genocide of people in history.

The Nazis ruled German through totalitarian means from 1933 to 1945. Although World War II didn’t last very long, but over 16,000,000 people died. One of the major causes of this disastrous war was the Treaty of Versailles which ended the First World War. This treaty was destructive towards the Germans. Germany had to pay large amounts of reparations to the Allied nations at the end of World War One resulting in a Great Depression in Germany. Additionally, the Treaty of Versailles’ war guilt clause forced Germans to admit full responsibility for starting the war. Furthermore, to gain the support of the German populace, Adolf Hitler adopted an effective propaganda campaign. Adolf Hitler employed a successful propaganda campaign to gain the support of the German people combined with the Treaty of Versailles harsh economic and political sanctions ignited World War Two.
World War II is an event that has marked history like no other. Originating from a European struggle, war broke out in 1939 and continued for six years. From the years 1939 through 1945 more than half the earth's surface was battling in war. American society was greatly affected. People of every age, race and class were deeply affected. Women's place in society took a leap forward like it never had before. As an effect of the second world war women's traditional roles in society were drastically altered.

Thought the damages of the war caused much destruction in politics, economics, and social for countries who took part of it, it helped the countries to rebuild and get back to its feet once again.

During the times prior, during, and post both the wars, all of the involved countries were making reckless political decisions, for example: excessive alliances that were both confusing and contradictive of purpose or treaties that had their fingers pointing a little too much at one country. Also during both World War One and World War Two, all of the countries were had little to no government, economically speaking, but that didn’t stop them from spending all of their money and using all of their other resources in order to have the biggest and the best armies, did it?

The Axis Powers consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan, they were part of a military alliance on the signing of the Tripartite Pact in September 1940.
