First to Second World War II caused many economic issues around the world and had an impact on the people for many years. The Treaty of Versailles was created after the Great War as a prevention for future wars. This treaty paved the way for many economic problems for countries by tightly interconnecting their economies. Furthermore, it created an organization, by the name of The League of Nations. It was created to prevent future wars. It has members from different countries. However, it failed to serve its purpose. The treaty allowed the Great Depression, which was caused by a stock market crash in the United States of America, to spread throughout Europe. The rise of undemocratic leaders and appeasement was another factor that heavily contributed …show more content…
World War II started less than twenty years after the conclusion of the First World War as a result of the Treaty of Versailles's resilient repercussions directed towards Germany, the Great Depression's economic effect on many countries, and the leader's appeasement to rising dictators. The Treaty of Versailles was a major factor that contributed to the Second Great War because it set Germany up for failure, by enforcing unreasonable repercussions upon them. Document B depicts a villain-like creature biting into an innocent woman. In this image, the creature is meant to depict the Treaty of Versailles, while the woman is represented as Germany. The Treaty of Versailles mandated Germany to pay 33 billion dollars as a repercussion for the damages that were caused during the war. This was an unreasonable amount for Germany to pay as they had also lost a lot of money in the war and did not have 33 billion dollars to pay. This caused Germany to be in debt. Not only did this affect the German economy, it affected the people. The repercussions caused hyperinflation in …show more content…
In similarity, Germany was doing the same thing. They used appeasement to the best of their ability to expand their territory. In slide 60 it is demonstrated how the German Republic grew in land from 1931 - 1939. This sudden change in land makes Germany (Hitler) much more powerful. They are now exposed to more land, resources, and people. Hitler had the power he needed, he could get revenge. Germany starts the process of getting revenge for the invasion of Poland. The invasion of Poland would never have been possible without the appeasement of other leaders. Appeasement was the main cause of how Hitler and many other fascist leaders were able to rise to power and get the power to make the moves to start another World War. In conclusion, World War II had many causes. Mainly the problematic Treaty of Versailles which led to many consequences such as the Great Depression which led to the rise of fascist leaders around the world and expansion in territory, which gave the dictators more power. If it were not for the series of events, then the outcome could be different. The League of Nations could prevent this, however they were not able
There is no excuse for the horrible things Nazi Germany did during World War II. But one can get a better idea how that war started by learning about how World War I ended. The Treaty of Versailles was created by the winners of World War I, like France, Great Britain, and the United States, to make peace. So how did it help contribute to an even worse war less than twenty years later? It was mainly because it was too hard on Germany’s territory, military, economy, and national pride.
World War I, also referred to as the Great War, was global conflict among the greatest Western powers and beyond. From 1914-1918, this turf war swept across rivaling nations, intensifying oppositions and battling until victory was declared. World War I was immediately triggered by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, however several long-term causes also contributed. The growing development of militarism, the eruption of powerful alliances, as well as the spread of imperialism, and a deepening sense of nationalism, significantly promoted to the outbreak of the Great War.
“War is unorganized murder, and nothing else” (Harry Patch). In World War 1, which was first called the Great War, there were many causes of the war breaking out. The Great War started August 1st 1914 days later after the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophia, when they visited Bosnia. Many soldiers went to war for no reason but to fight for their country. The Great War was not only affected by the soldiers, but also by the civilians as well. Women replaced men in factories, offices, and shops while the men were at war so that everything would be working smoothly. The main underlying causes of World War 1 were the alliances and imperialism in Europe.
Finally, the accumulated hatred amongst the people gave birth to the potential for a revolution. The Treaty of Versailles is, therefore, an indirect cause to World War II, because of the alliances it caused, the punishments it enforced, and the hatred it developed. The coalitions brought by the Versailles Treaty contributed greatly to starting WWII. The Treaty was responsible for the formation of the Allies. However, when made, these alliances were based on promises from the superpowers, particularly France.
World War 1 was a deadly battle with millions dead, but do you ever wonder what caused world war 2? There are many causes for world war 2, but the item that caused an impact on the war the Treaty of Versailles. World war 1 started on August 1914 and ended on November 1918 it lasted for 4 years and 3 months. World War 2 lasted for 6 years with even more people dead and injured. So how did the versailles treaty help cause world war 2. The treaty of versailles punished Germany too harshly in four key ways: Territorial losses, showing how Germany is weak, and vulnerable, making the Germans pay, and the germans also wanted to destroy the treaty.
Germany and her allies were blamed for the war. The Treaty of Versailles said that they had to pay for the cost of the war. The Treaty of Versailles is what caused World War II. If it had been less harsh on Germany, the Weimar Republic would have been stronger and would not have faced as much economic and social turmoil. Had the treaty been harsher, Germany would not have had the power to make war.
Another factor in causing World War II was the Wall Street Crash of 1929 resulting in a 2-year economic depression all over the world. Not only did these cause countries such as Britain and France to take a less active foreign policy, but also it destroyed the newly found prosperity in Germany and made many people jobless. This led to Hitler
The Treaty of Versailles is a cause of World War II because of the restrictions it placed on Germany as the alleged sole aggressor of the war. The war reparation totaled $98 billion, and under Clause 231 Germany was forced to take the entire load onto her ruined economy and attempt to repay the debt starting with an initial $5 billion payment. In terms of military, Germany was limited to a 100,000 man army, with her navy stripped to the level of a coast guard, she was allowed no heavy artillery, no weapons of mass destruction and the border with France became a demilitarized zone for 15 years following the signing of the treaty on June 28 1919. Germany also lost all her territories in Africa and became a mandate of the Allied Forces, those living in mandated zones could participate in “self-determination” after the Allies taught them how to be a democracy (...
Germany was economically frail subsequent to World War I. The Treaty of Versailles had held them accountable for the cause, and the Great Depression further deteriorated their condition. Germany was ambitious for power and resources. Envisioning world domination, Adolf Hitler, dictator of Nazi Germany, led his Nazi Party to invade Poland in 1939. France and Britain guaranteed to offer military support if Poland were to become attacked; they declared war, initiating World War II.
World War Two was the most devastating conflict in the history of humanity. It crippled many nations and caused millions of people to die. One of the major causes of this disastrous war was the Treaty of Versailles which ended the First World War. This treaty was destructive towards the Germans. Germany had to pay large amounts of reparations to the Allied nations at the end of World War One resulting in a Great Depression in Germany. Additionally, the Treaty of Versailles’ war guilt clause forced Germans to admit full responsibility for starting the war. Furthermore, to gain the support of the German populace, Adolf Hitler adopted an effective propaganda campaign. Adolf Hitler employed a successful propaganda campaign to gain the support of the German people combined with the Treaty of Versailles harsh economic and political sanctions ignited World War Two.
The Treaty of Versailles, initially created to keep peace in Europe and ensure that another war like World War I wouldn’t happen again, had in fact, backfired and spiraled the world down into a deeper, bloodier battle. The treaty discriminated strongly against Germany, with the loss of territories, military restrictions, economic reparations, and the War Guilt Clause. It caused humiliation and anger within Germany, and led to Hitler and the Nazi Party coming to power. World War II was not only started by Adolf Hitler and Germany, but had a lot to do with the humiliation that Germany felt when the terms for the Treaty of Versailles were laid down. The harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles may be indirectly related to the cause of World War II, but nonetheless was a huge factor in starting the war.
The Treaty of Versailles was one of the factors that led to the inevitability of World War Two. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that occurred as a result of the Paris Peace Conference that was held after Germany was defeated in World War One. The Treaty was put into action and required that Germany should accept responsibility for the war; of course Germany was humiliated by this. They were required to pay colossal war reparation payments. This was one of the main reasons the treaty had a severe impact on Germany; it crippled the German economy and critically reduced the living standards of the people. This made it virtually impossible for the German economy to function productively. The effects that the treaty had on Germany directly led to the rise of Hitler who he capitalised on German resentment at their treatment. He provided a focus for the German people and their desire to take back what they once had, and to restore their pride once again becoming a glorious nation.
After World War 1, the United States, France, and Great Britain got together to create the Treaty of Versailles, to create a punishment for the damage of war. At the meeting, the Allied powers blamed Germany for all the losses of the war. They were severely punished, they had to pay large reparations and decrease their military size. It also took the part of Poland that Germany had worked so hard to gain control of. The punishments ruined Germany’s economy for many years.
World War II was a result of all the problems that were left unresolved after World War I. World War I left Europe unstable and with lot of financial and political problems."In particular, political and economic instability in Germany, and lingering resentment over the harsh terms imposed by the Versailles Treaty, fueled the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist (Nazi) Party." Germany’s economy had begun suffering before the Treaty of Versailles was created. Once this treaty went into effect, being passed by the reluctant United States (who wanted peace), the German economy tanked further. The United States did not only cause consequences for others, but also had consequences of their own to face. The United States economy blossomed as the immediate result of World War I, allowing for more jobs with better wages and increased the production of goods. Eventually the United States economy takes a turn from loans not being repaid, contributing to the start of the Great Depression later on. The League of Nations was a creation by Woodrow Wilson to prevent another great war from occurring after the devastation of this one. The consequences of World War I caused great trouble for the world, whether these effects occurred as an immediate effect or a ripple effect in later
