Without a doubt, everyone on this earth has heard about the great World Wars. With a total 70 million people killed in both wars, these events shook the earth, and left a lasting mark on the world. There are both similarities and differences to both wars. We will take a closer look at how they transpired, and what happened during them. Let us take a deeper look, into the background of World War I and World War II.

Tension had been growing in Europe for years before the war broke out. Several different alliances had been formed over the years, but political instability in the Balkans made a threat to destroy the alliances. When in Bosnia, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife Sophie, were assassinated by a Serbian nationalist on June 28, 1914. After the assassination, there was a rapid change of events that occurred afterwards. Austria-Hungary blamed the Serbian government for the attack on the Archduke, and wanted to use the attack as a basis to settle the question of nationalism. We still live today with some of the consequences from these wars. They left scars and it changed the world in a way that still greatly affects us today. We see similarities however in these wars. In both wars, the United States stayed neutral in the beginning. Later, they entered the war after a boat or many boats had been blown up. Additionally, any battles that were fought by the United States were always in the air, at sea, or on foreign land. They were never fought on U.S. soil. Germany was the main force of the enemy in both wars. They were also punished more than any other country. The United States helped the European countries fight back in both World War I and World War II. And finally, in both wars, the allied powers beat the axis
