World war one started on July 28, 1914. At the time of the war most people didn’t know there would be a second World war, so most people called the war “The war to end all wars” and “The Great War”. The war lasted for four years and was a very deadly war. Around 20 million people died and 21 million wounded. Because so many were killed and wounded, the war did not only impact the people fighting it in, but all those families and friends who knew someone who was involved in the war. The war brought some troubles to the country. One impact was after the war America was in much debt. Taxes raised to help pay off these debts and americans were angry about this. There were also some good effects that happened because of the war too. During the war, all the men had left the country and had gone overseas to fight, this meant that many jobs had now opened up for women to take. Society now needed women, not just to clean the house and cook, but to actually work at actual jobs that paid well. Another good effect of the war was “The …show more content…

It affected people back home in their countries, nurses who had to travel overseas to heal the wounded, and so many more. 20 million people died and 21 million were wounded. All those people most likely had families back in their countries they were from that were worried that they may never see their loved ones ever again. Countries are still paying off debts from the first world war and the second. But even though the war caused much damage, it also brought some good. Women finally got a chance to speak up and get jobs since men were at war, weapons were more advanced, and african americans as well got more rights too. My opinion on the war is that the war brought much damage and sorrow to our country but it wasn’t all bad. It did bring some good things and they changed the way we lived our lives everyday after
