World Trade Center Tragedy
At 8:45am a hijacked plane crashed into the World Trade Centre, 9:03am a second hijacked plane crashed into the World Trade Centre. Again at 9:43am another hijacked plane crashed into the Pentagon, and one other hijacked plane was shot down at 10:10am as it was going towards Camp David.
On September 11th 2001 at 8:45am the first hijacked plane crashed into the World Trade Centre. American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston, Massachusetts was the first out of four planes to be hijacked that day. As people looked on they saw how many people lost their lives in that short second. Many people looked on in shock and amazement at the same time. As they were looking at the first hijacked plane in the World trade Centre they saw a second hijacked plane Airlines Flight 175 from Boston, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center and explodes at around 9:03am. The south tower of the World Trade Center collapses, plummeting into the streets below, and a massive cloud of dust formed and slowly drifted away from the buildings at 10:05am. As many people ran for cover the second World trade Centre collapsed at10:28.
At 9:43. American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon, sending up a huge plume of smoke Three minutes later the Whitehouse was evacuated. People in Washington are now feeling the same disbelief that New York was feeling. They are shocked, and some people might not have understood what was going on. Some people did not want to believe that something like this could happen in their city, let alone there own town. The Pentagon is now burning and there is nothing anyone could do but cry, and hope that their loved ones were not on any of those planes.
The last plane that was hijacked was then shot down at 10:10am. The plane was being hijacked was going toward Camp David.
At 9:03 United Airlines Flight 175 crashes in the South Tower of the World Trade Center. American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the western façade of the Pentagon. While United Airlines Flight 93’ some believed it was destined for the White House, U.S. Capitol building, or other landmarks, crashes into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. At the end of this horrific terrorist attack, approximately 2,977 died. Many families lost fathers, mothers, daughters, brothers.
September 11, 2001 was a day that Americans and the world for that matter will not soon forget. When two planes went into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and two others went into the Pentagon and a small town in Pennsylvania, the world was rocked. Everyone in the United States felt very vulnerable and unsafe from attacks that might follow. As a result, confidence in the CIA, FBI, and the airlines were shaken. People were scared to fly after what had happened.
Soon after, Flight 175 attacked the South Tower. By the end of the day, both towers had collapsed and other hijacked flights had caused damage. The amount of lives lost on September 11 was substantial; 2,749 people from eighty-three different countries died from the attacks (Facts about the attacks., n.d.). All in all, America has changed forever. Research Many conspiracy theories have been developed concerning what happened to the World Trade Centers on September 11, 2001, but there are a select few that, similar to the truth, cannot be disproved without quite a bit of effort.
A study by the New York City Partnership and the Chamber of Commerce estimates that New York City's economy will sustain a gross loss of about $83 billion and lose 57,000 jobs over three years as a result of the World Trade Center attacks.
As of February 2003 more than four-hundred thousand Darfuri citizens have been found slaughtered on the side of the streets of their home town. Prior to 2003, Darfur, Sudan has a population of six million people. In 2003, two rebel groups came to the conclusion of the government’s neglect in decision to rise against the government of Sudan. As a result, the Sudanese government unleashed the forces of Arab militias (also known as the Janjaweed). With blood on their hands, the Janjaweed have been the accused for the misplacing of many villages and people. As the war seems to expand, the Sudanese government seems to oppose any association with the Janjaweed. In spite of continuing a limited amount of humanitarian aid, many are still in contact with dreadful food shortages and disease. The U.N. (United Nations) has ventured in sending humanitarian aid repeatedly, but the Janjaweed have reused all help. Despite the ignorance of the Janjaweed, the U.N. is in the process of securing the comfort of all Darfur citizens, and not only for the foreigners, but for the road that lies ahead of Sudan as well (Reeves).
It is due this circumstance that the fight in Darfur, which originated from conflict over land, water and additional capitals amongst black farmers and Arab nomads, has transformed into a gory tragedy. The Darfur crisis has exposed the racial issues in Sudan which had been ready to burst into flames for a long period time. What makes it a racial conflict is that the Muslim Arab Janjaweed militia, are attacking black African Muslims. Both sides share the same Muslim beliefs but cannot live in harmony. If the southerners are not awarded the same rights as the northerners, they will continue to fight.

My essay focuses on the county of Greater Manchester in North West England. A thriving metropolitan area, the county has been a place of interest since its rise in the Industrial Revolution.
Natsios, Andrew S. Sudan, south Sudan, & Darfur: what everyone needs to know. New York:
The Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005 states, “The conflict in the Sudan is the longest running conflict in Africa… it has caused tragic loss of life, destroyed the infrastructure of the country, eroded its economic resources and caused suffering to the people of the Sudan” (“Sudan” Insight). Sudan faced the challenge of overcoming the ethnic division between Northern Sudan’s Arab heritage and Southern Sudan’s African heritage. Southern Sudan was isolated from the Northern region, which prevented Sudan from fully participating in the country's political, economic, and social life. This separation resulted in ethnic tension and caused racial clashes and dependence between the two groups. The turmoil and troubles in Sudan today began with a heavy Anglo- Egyptian influence on ancient-Sudan.

Since its independence from the United Kingdom and Egypt, the country of Sudan has always been in constant ethnic and rebel conflicts. Ironically, the conflicts that Sudan engaged in can be found inside its territories instead of its neighboring countries. The dangerous situation of the country created many Sudanese refugees in the process. Out of fear of being slaughtered, raped and enslaved, many fled to neighboring states of Eritrea, Chad, Ethiopia, Uganda and Cent...
...tempt to change their image globally of worrying only about the money they have invested in developing countries and not being concerned with who is in charge of those countries, or the human rights abuses that are a result. Secondly, China has large interests in Sudanese oil. Beginning a relationship with Sudanese oil production in the mid-90’s, China has continued to making growing investments in Sudanese oil every years since. Importing up to 80% of South Sudan’s oil exports every year, China has money to lose as the fighting continues, and even more money to gain should South Sudan regain its stability. With China’s tight grip on the Sudanese oil market, it could make it difficult for the U.S. to benefit from increased investment in South Sudan, and the U.S. could even be inadvertently aiding China’s financial gains from South Sudan.
Sudan has known conflict for most of its existence. The discovery of oil in 1979 served to heighten this conflict as north and south fought over valuable resources. In more recent years human rights violations and genocide have occurred in unsurpassed numbers with the Sudanese governments support. Sudanese President Umar al-Bashir is the first sitting head of state with an issued arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. In July 2011 southern Sudanese citizens voted to secede from Sudan and form the Republic of South Sudan in response to years of oppression by the Arab led Islamist government. South Sudan is now the worlds newest country and free to determine its own path forward. What part will the United States play in South Sudan development? Will China continue to be the major influence in this region? The United States now has a rare opportunity to insert itself into the region and a chance to help create stability for the war torn region.
There were about one hundred hijackings and hijacking attempts during the years leading up to 9/11. Then, on September 11, 2001, nineteen Muslim extremists hijacked four airplanes bound from the east coast to the west coast with full fuel tanks. The hijackers targets were buildings that represented American power. They successfully crashed three of the four of the planes into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and the Pentagon in Washington DC, killing almost 3000 people. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Stony Creek Township, Pennsylvania.
