World History class in 10th grade, I had a teacher, who always gave her opinion on history with irrelevant topic. She was Hawaiian , which made her very sensitive to events in history such as WWII , the Hiroshima Bombing,and Pearl Harbor because her uncle was paralyzed by the bombing of Pearl Harbor . WWII was the only topic we learned for the entire semester because her family raised her to believe it was a very important event in history. However,she didn’t cover any other historical topics of interest to students. Therefore,I had a hard time passing tests and quizzes because I wasn’t interested ,and I was bored.The questions were really difficult unless students were passionate about this particular part of World History. She should’ve connected to the students’ cultures as well . Therefore , Students disliked her because her ideology wasn 't right for a history class because there 's so many views on things such as U.S.A towards genocides,and bombing of Hiroshima.She mentioned that “the bombing of Hiroshima was a courageous act by the U.S. government ”, which made the class very sick.Our class felt so uncomfortable to believe that one 's life is more important than others . So,giving students packs of work doesn’t mean their learning because it’s not being retained. Even though,, students are not succeeding because they have too many distractions , lack of preparation , poor time management skills , and procrastination .One study conducted by Jennifer O 'Loughlin, “Many student spend” states [“While most teenagers (60 percent) spend on average 20 hours per week in front of television and computer screens, a third spend closer to 40 hours per week, and about 7 percent are exposed to more than 50 hours of "screen-time" per week”]. Which these problems have been created because of lack of engagement in the curriculum .But,this rein back on to teachers and administration because they are the ones who have students five times a week for 8 hours. Many of us complain about the tough hours we work or the amount of chores we have to complete, but think about the truly harsh conditions that young girls and women had to work in the textile industry with very little pay and no accolades. Back in the 18th century, when the Industrial Revolution struck, it made it hard for female mill workers to enjoy being employed. Due to the terrible working conditions, the amount of hours worked, and the low wages were a few of the similarities that the female mill workers in England and Japan shared.
The periods of 1200-1450 and 1450-1700 were polar opposites for a multitude of reasons but the most important reasons the two were different were, the invention of the printing press, the enlightenment, along with one man, Martin Luther. These three things changed the course of world history and brought upon a period that led to the updating of human nature at a previously unseen rate. Through time the cultural influence between regions has consisted of many factors and elements but comes down to the spread of religion and religious teachings , movement of peoples, technological and cultural advancements affecting trade and commerce. Most slaves that were born in America lived in the Chesapeake, and so English became a common language which allowed a rapid development in the culture. Some tobacco farmers wanted to increase the workforce by purchasing woman slaves and encouraging large families among the slaves. They were least successful in the West Indies and the Carolinas because there were many different tribes of Africans with many different languages, which made it hard for the slaves to interact with one another, which was the goal of the owners because that way they would focus more on the work. There have been so many studies recently that talk about how homework has started to become more burdensome for more students. The United States has gone from teaching to shoving homework in kids’ faces to keep them on the idea that school is always there. Classes have been extended from 45 minutes each day to an hour and a half. This was supposed to allow students work time at the end of classes and get help when needed. Instead, teachers lecture from beginning to end. This gives no time for students to get the help they need when can’t come in any other time. The rationale has changed in America that doing more, always means doing better. This, however, can be the downfall to anything. We all know the downfall of homework: the frustration and exhaustion, family conflict, time loss, and decreasing interest in learning. No study has ever demonstrated any academic achievement linked to assigning homework. There is also no support to the fact that homework provides nonacademic benefits at any age. Here are a few examples: building character, promoting self-discipline, or teaching good work habits. All teachers who assign homework want to believe that the gain outweighs the pain. Although, there is no evidence of that and they must rely on faith (“Homework: No Proven Benefits”, pg. 1).
