I also spoke with her about the importance of medical care for her children and how seeing a doctor regularly is important for them, and for her. Precious reports that she never went to a doctor growing up, and her first time inside a hospital was when she was giving birth to her second child. I explained to Precious how she and her children will qualify for Medicaid services, and what all this will cover for them. Precious was very receptive to this information and liked the idea of being able to see a doctor. Another important intervention for Precious is treating her mental health. Precious has been through some very traumatic events throughout her life, and counseling is something that can help her work through the past to develop a healthier outlook on life for herself and her children. I also spoke with Precious about attending support groups which can help her work through these issues, as well as giving her opportunities to be involved in her community. Precious said she would like that, and was very open to this information. I have referred her to a Teenage mother’s support group, along with Survivors of Incest anonymous support
On this date and time this caseworker met with Amanda Grimes at her residence. At this time this caseworker observed Kenna in her mother's arms. She appeared to be clean, healthy, and adequately dressed. Both Kenna and Mrs. Grimes appeared to calm. Mrs. Grimes reported that things has been great with the family. They are currently unpacking the rest of their items from their recent move. Mrs. Grimes stated Kenna is almost able to sleep through the night. Mrs. Grimes reported no concerns. Her husband Steven Grimes had just arrived home from the store with Korie Grimes. Mr. Grimes reported he had no concern. Korie Grimes was observed playing with her new golf set. Shaniah Hutson entered the 1031’s side of the building and entered into the office where both staffs were located. Staff asked Shaniah if she wanted to take her medications this morning. Shaniah replied, “No, I have an eye appointment today.” Staff N.E. responded to Shaniah explaining that the eye doctors should be closed, and we are short staff. Shaniah walked out while looking at her phone into the living room. Staff N.E. asked Shaniah to contact the office to see if they were open. Shaniah started to get smart by saying, “What am I calling for? Y’all need to take me, and pay for it.” Staff K.H. explained that the way Shaniah was talking to staff was rude. Natty said that visits with RM are going well. RM comes frequently. That RM is the most supportive of Natty through this process and the most accepting. Natty still wants to live with RM. Natty does not like living at his paternal grandmother place but better than foster care. Natty has his own room. Natty leaves early and returns late in order to avoid everyone in the home. Natty’s grandmother says offensive comments to Natty and Natty responds by locking himself in his room. In the grandmother’s home Natty’s aunt, uncle, and cousin reside there as well. Natty said that they aren’t supportive of him at this time so he just does his best to avoid all of them. Natty said RF rarely visits. RF comes infrequently. Natty gave us permission to speak with RM around scheduling of appointments.
Megan came into the room enthusiastically and very willing to communicate. She is a very happy and confident girl who says that she loves school. We had a casual conversation where I explained that I would be doing everything that I could to help her in school. I explained that I needed to find out exactly where she was having difficulties in order to help and to do this we would have to do some tests. Megan agreed to this without hesitation.
PER REPORTER: Carsen has missed 11 days from school. Per reporter Carsen has cerebral palsy and he is in a wheelchair. However, the reporter said that Carsen’s wheelchair is broken. The special education department was trying to work with Catherine to help get Carsen a new chair. Catherine was supposed to get a prescription from the doctor to bring to the school on 9-16-2015 but she did not bring it. Question arises about whether or not communication with animals is dialogic or monologic. Majority of society would probably think animals cannot communicate with us, generating the assumption that the connection is dialogic. However, that theory is incorrect for several different reasons. Dogs, for example, communicate with their owners with every movement and noise they make. Moping, sniffing, and watching are all examples of how dogs communicate with us non-verbally. They also communicate with us verbally by barking and crying. Animals obviously do not speak the same language as us so they use their body language to send us messages.
