For years, the debate over who the most productive fantasy players were in a given era was fixated on the top-rated running backs. With a gradual change in play calling philosophies, that trend has shifted dramatically since 2010. Such a dramatic shift - that now getting a top tier wide receiver is a higher draft priority than stocking up on ball carriers. However, since 2010 a few NFL fantasy superstars have been consistently the best point producers. Workhorse Running Backs Age and the pounding of the NFL has caught up with AP, but Adrian Peterson has to be one of the highest drafted fantasy running backs since 2010. A handful of nagging injuries and a couple legal squabbles with the NFL head office, limited his production in recent seasons. However, since 2010 he has been the most consistently steady fantasy point producers to own. …show more content…
The same could be said about Jamaal Charles.
Until the last two seasons, Charles has been the primary weapon for the Kansas City Chiefs, and a week-to-week stalwart on many fantasy teams. Peterson took high fantasy point honors in 2012, followed by Charles in 2013. During other years, players like the Muscle Hamster (Doug Martin) in Tampa Bay, Arian Foster, Chris Johnson, Matt Forte and LeSean McCoy have all been coveted to fill the RB spot on a fantasy roster. Shady McCoy approaches the consistency level that both Peterson and Charles has established, but running backs have faded from their glory days as must-have pieces to a fantasy league championship. Although he doesn’t have as extensive a portfolio to judge, the newest fantasy RB stud would have to be the Steeler’s Le’Veon Bell. Winning With Signal
Callers Many team owners feel that the QB spot can be filled competently, by waiting until the mid-rounds to pull one off the draft board. Since 2010, if you want constant and steady fantasy production, a handful of signal callers stand out. Number one off the board is Aaron Rodgers. Cheeseheads assert they have the best quarterback of all time and a bunch of fantasy crowns have been awarded with Rodgers filling the QB slot. Another first time Hall of Famer, Tom Brady has equaled Rodgers in fantasy consistency. Although he’s now pumping pizzas for Papa John’s, Peyton Manning had to be given high consideration on fantasy draft day until he retired a Super Bowl Champion. Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and oddly enough Russell Wilson, have all held their own when the final fantasy stats are calculated, but a big percentage of league championships were stolen if one of the top 3 QBs were blended with a solid supporting cast. The NFL Goes Airborne Over last half decade, the importance of owning a high-profile pass catcher has increased. This list has fluctuated from one year to the next, but when looking at productivity, Antonio Brown has become maybe the most coveted player on fantasy draft day. Odell Beckham Jr. and Julio Jones have shown the capability of putting up astronomical numbers on any given weekend, so a mention of the best WRs since 2010 could not skip those two. Even with three more seasons left before we flip the calendar into the next decade of the 21st century, one player who put a stamp on fantasy production from the wide receiver spot was the Megatron. Before he decided to hang up his spikes, Calvin Johnson boosted the weekly point totals of many a fantasy football team. When you debate the best fantasy players over a seven-year period, you have to use consistency as the benchmark from which you grade. Running backs come and go on almost a yearly basis, but those mentioned here have shown resilience. With about every offensive coordinator told to get the pigskin airborne more often, quarterbacks and wide receivers have gradually floated to the top of point production. Again, consistency – and what have you done for me lately – establishes the criteria necessary to judge the best fantasy football players since 2010.
In 1992, Lewis, armed with a full scholarship, enrolled at the University of Miami, at the time home to one of the country's best football programs. He quickly became a vital piece in a vaunted Hurricanes' defense. Overall, he ranks fifth all time in school history in tackles, and at the end of his junior year was runner-up for the Butkus Award as the nation's best linebacker.
Dak Prescott and Jared Goff are two of the most anticipated rookies coming into the 2016 season, and both seem to be making a lot of attention with their two teams. Dak Prescott was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft with the 135th overall pick. Jared Goff, on the other hand; was the 1st overall pick. Dak Prescott was meant to be a player that could be used in the future; Tony Romo was meant to be the presumptive starting QB, but he is predicted to miss 6 – 10 weeks with a broken bone in his back, so Prescott will fill in for him. Dak Prescott is now scheduled to be the starting QB in the Cowboys first regular season game against the New York Giants. A lot of people anticipated that Goff would start for the Los Angeles Ram
In his first year in the NFL Payton rushed for 679 yards, and 7 touchdowns. Not much for a rookie running
“To be the best you got to beat the best; therefore I am the best cause I’ve beaten the rest” (Barry Sanders). The game of football only requires 22 men, but only one man can be the running back. The running back position is considered the most prestigious of the game. To be a great running back in the N.F.L. you must possess certain qualities such as: speed, strength, agility, field vision, quick feet, and good stamina. Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Marcus Allen all possess these qualities and are three of the best running backs the National Football League will ever see.
Predictions like these can be really obvious even though we are so far away from the preseason. How easy would it be for anyone to pick Fletcher Cox, Jordan Matthews, Ryan Mathews, Malcolm Jenkins, and Sam Bradford for a list of impact guys to look out for? For this reason, I chose five guys who we should be paying close attention to
You should have in mind what players you want on your team. You should research all the player’s statistics from the previous year and see if they are consistent with his being a reliable player. You should look at his past injuries and research the significance of them. You should keep up with the NFL news to see which players that were traded or injured. You should also look at the player’s schedule because whether he is playing against a hard or easy team could affect his performance. Finally, you should read fantasy magazines and, most importantly, you should listen to what all fantasy experts are suggesting that you
We want to try and put across the argument for why Romo should be the pick over Prescott. Despite the fact that Prescott has been fantastic this reason for the Cowboys, and has been showing why he might be the next star in that position for the team, Romo should start in the play-offs for sure. Despite his injury setbacks this year, Romo has the experience that should always be counted on when it comes to the biggest matches.
Second fo all not only did Smith Sr have some good games.“Smith has had five Pro Bowl invitation” that is good for only Sixteen years of playing( Zebiec). Its truly hard to believe that Steve Smith has kept playing after he broke his vertebrae it really goes to show how much it means to him to be able to play football (“5Things You May Not Know About Steve Smith Sr.”). “The doc told him he had a fifty / fifty chance of ever playing football again after he broke his vertebrae” (“5Things You May Not Know About Steve Smith Sr).
When you really lay out all of his attributes both on and off the field you really start to see the bigger picture. Not only is this guy one of the best in the NFL now but he could be one of the best wide receivers in the history of the league. He will not be remembered solely as an amazing talent however, he will also be remembered for his of the field activities. Such as helping out the paralyzed kid in need of a friend in tough times, or helping kids in need of a role model. For everything that he has shown me to this point, even after he is old and done with football he will be a great man to others in his society in the future. His story goes to show all people adults, and kids alike that if you keep a good head on your shoulders, and never quit you can achieve your biggest and wildest dreams.
Every off season there is an NFL draft which means young players get the chance to play with teams like the Eagles and the Eagles have had some amazing picks that became Hall of Famers and picks that became busts that were never heard from again. In 1936 the Eagles selected Jay Berwanger who never played for the Eagles or any NFL football at all, but he did become a Hall of Famer. The Eagles have had some good picks like Chuck Bednarik, Bob Brown, and Donavon McNabb who were all amazing
With 352 yards and 3 touchdowns, giving him a 141.4 QB rating, the Eagles stomped the Vikings, shooting his worth up in the ole NFL stock market.
Gronkowski excelled in football and basketball in his youth and attended the University of Arizona to play for the Arizona Wildcats football team starting in 2007. Though he missed his junior season due to back surgery, he was later drafted by the New England Patriots in the 2010 NFL Draft.
The NFL is a hard-hitting sport and injuries are bound to happen, but after one week of football teams should consider using bubble wrap to protect their players with so many key guys getting hurt. Topping that list is Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant who broke his foot Sunday night versus the Giants and will be out at least 8 to 12 weeks, but the way people are talking it might be a full year. A big blow to the Cowboys it's impossible to replace that production, but they proved Sunday night that they don't need Bryant to win games although it would be a big help! No doubt the Cowboys will suffer without Bryant but I don't think it was the biggest loss to injury on Sunday. The reason I say that is as much as I hate to say it they do have a pretty
Tim Tebow, standing at 6’3 and 230 pounds, was referred to as the “strongest human who has ever played quarterback”. In 2010, he was a first round draft by the Broncos. If I were a first draft pick by one of the best football teams in America, that would be a huge honor. Out of about 1,700 players, you were picked first draft, you would have to be really good.
“The Cowboys haven’t had a safety since the great Darren Woodson.” Countless times we have all heard this statement ever since the newly inducted ring of honor member hung up his cleats for the final time in 2004. Sure, we have had sporadic, solid performances from players such as Roy Williams and Ken Hamlin. However, the safety position overall has been little more than lackluster for the last decade. Barry Church is an average safety at best, especially now. He was always known for his tackling ability rather than his coverage, but even that fell far below expectations in 2015. With multiple, lingering injuries over the past few seasons and his age, it will be surprising if he comes back after this season with his contract expiring. Then there is J.J. Wilcox, a running
