Woodrow Wilson most well known for being the 28th president of the United States. Wilson began his life young life in Princeton. Then later became the President of Princeton. After his stunt at Princeton Wilson decided to tackle politics. Where he became the 28th President and led the country through World War 1. Wilson then contributed to the creation of the Treaty of Versailles following the World War. Wilson's dedication to the country was incredible and portrays how hard work leads to results.
Before Woodrow Wilson became president he was a graduate from Princeton and would go on to be the president of the school. Wilson started his career at Princeton where he graduated in 1879 and after decided to attend law school at University of Virginia.
When War broke out in Europe in 1914 Wilson determined it was in the best interest of the United States to stay out of the conflict. In spite of the fact that president Wilson hoped to stay out of the war and wanted peace, in mid 1917 German submarines started attacking U.S. dealerships. On April 2, 1917, Wilson asked Congress to declare war on Germany, stating,“The world must be made safe for democracy.(History.com Staff)” In the following year and a half the United States constructed a army of 4 million men by enrollment, and sent 2 million men abroad to France, and joined the whole populace behind the war effort. The war reached an end on Nov. 11, 1918. The German proposition for peace came amidst the Congressional races. Against the guidance of those near him, the president chose to go to the peace gathering in Paris and battle for his beliefs face to face. Wilson not being present during congressional races shows how determined he was to keep peace in the World and finish what he started. “On December 13 he arrived in Europe. Probably no man has ever been given such an ovation. Wherever he went enormous crowds gathered, sobbing, cheering, shouting his name. During World War I Wilson’s roles in the war became well known in all countries. Wilson wanted peace more than anything else. In seeking for peace Wilson asked Congress for the U.S. to enter World War I. which may not sound like a peace strategy but Wilson felt it was the only way to stop Germany and gain peace. He attended Davidson College and Princeton University. Next, he attended University of Virginia where he studied law. Finally, Wilson studied political science and history at John Hopkins University. Next, with his numerous degrees and extensive knowledge, Wilson taught at a verity of universities between 1885 and 1902, as well as being the dean of a graduate school in 1910. (Link.pg1). This slogan makes an attempt to refer to the good leadership qualities and decisions that President Wilson made to keep the United States of America out of the war and that is why he should be elected again to serve as President. Though this made a valid argument to show that Wilson was smart to keep us out of war, many events took place that continued to anger the U.S. which eventually made them declare war on Germany on April 6th, 1917 (World War I). The United States held out of the Great War for so long because of economic reasons, their policy of neutrality, and to avoid the morbid trench warfare (America). While not everyone was supportive of the war, the vast majority was extremely pro-war. The Treaty of Versailles was a violation of Wilson’s ideals. The Treaty is one of the most important agreements (or disagreements) that shaped 20th century Europe socially and physically. All in all these two presidents had similar goals. They just achieved them in different ways. Wilson and Roosevelt were idealists who wanted the U.S. to be more active in world affairs. Both were willing to take drastic action to protect the United States. Roosevelt relocated Japanese Americans and enforced trade embargos on European and Asian nations. Wilson cracked down on Germany’s actions during WWI and the breaking of that agreement lead to Wilson declaring war on Germany. These actions have changed our history forever and the worlds.
