Yesterday was my eighth visit at the Woodhaven Care Center. The first two hours of my day were spent running from room to room checking on patients to see if they were ready for treatment. Unlike prior weeks were I helped an average of 3 to 4 patients this week my lead was only one. I spent a majority of time motivating tired patients to come with me to the treatment area, watching and other staff with their patients. The highlight of my day was when I get to meet a second year student from our CCAC PTA program. She provided me with her insight in the program along with things she has been introduced. I found value in our talk and plan to add to my bag of tricks as I continue through the program and my ultimate goal the workforce. Today was
an average day compared to those I’ve had in the past but I’m looking to conclude my visits next week as I will be staying a full day to make up for my late clinical start.
I was then introduced to a patient who was in isolation. Her legs were immovable and were crossed in a very uncomfortable position. I wish I could’ve done something so that her legs could be in a more comfortable position, but all I could do was observe and get her a cup of ice cold water to drink. During this clinical observation, I didn’t get to see much but overall, it was a good experience. It made me realize what it was like to be in a hospital setting and what it meant to be a nurse. Seeing how the patients were still able to smile through all the pain they went through, it made me want to become a nurse even more because I would also like to make my patients happy. If I could do one thing differently during this clinical observation, I wish I didn’t ask my senior nurse about what externships she took and instead, I wished I asked her more questions about the patients in order to gain more information about
In the beginning of my senior year I was eager to expand my understanding of how it would be to work in a hospital. An opportunity arose allowing me to volunteer in the hospital at the University of Chicago. I was able to volunteer at the children's playroom, which consisted of a weekly commitment. The daily tasks I had to perform where to enlighten the spirits of children and reduce the amount of anxiety that developed within them when they approached a hospital visit. I would play games, read books, or just company the patients at their bedside. I especially love to interact with the younger patients because their laughter and innocence warms my heart up.

On February 14th I spent a day doing something I never thought I would do in a million years, I went to hospice. I always thought I would hate hospice, but I actually didn’t mind it too much, it isn’t a job I see myself doing in the future but it is a job that I understand why people do it and why they enjoy it. In this mentorship I continue getting new experiences in each day. Providence Mount St. Vincent, TCU is an open door for new learning opportunity. I used to work for Providence Mount St Vincent as a nursing assistant about three years ago, back then TCU wasn’t there. Therapy Analysis The purpose of this paper is to examine the efficacy of my work as a co-therapist during the fifth session with the simulated couple Katy and Michelle. I will discuss our therapy agenda and the goals we hope to attain during the session. It is prudent to begin by giving a brief outline of the couple’s present problem and the patterns of dysfunction that I have identified within their relationship. Throughout my final ten weeks at my placement, I have grown and overcome so many obstacles. I have accomplished a wide range of skills since the beginning and have been improving on them as I gained experience. At my placement as a student nurse, I have gained a lot of confidence, skills, knowledge and experiences that have helped me act and work in a professional way. All the experiences I have had during the ten weeks of my student years have helped me in shaping me into a professional.
