Woodworking has been around for millennia or more. People have used wood for building shelter, tools, and other useful things. There are many different kinds of woodworking. The most common today are marquetry and parquetry, which are both forms of veneering and caring. There are many different styles of woodworking all of which are a very impressive art form.
Wood working has been used by man since the beginning of time. Adam was the first known wood worker. Some of the oldest examples of wood working date back to the ancient Egyptian and ancient Chinese civilizations. Wood working is depicted in many ancient Egyptian drawings, and in recent years many examples of Egyptian furniture have been found preserved in tombs. These include stools, chairs, tables, beds, and chests (“Wood Carving”, NP).
One of the oldest forms of woodworking is called veneering. Veneer is a thin surface layer of fine wood, glued to a base of less attractive or inexpensive material. Veneer is used when decorating furniture, floors, walls and even paintings or pictures. This can be broken down into two different categories; these are parquetry and marquetry.
Marquetry is the art of inlaying different woods, and other natural materials to create a picture. To inlay is to set a material onto another surface, but still level with the surface. Ingle, according to his colleagues and students, was an elegant man. He enjoyed gardening, fencing, horseback riding, and classical music and would often be seen wearing tweed. This could be reasoning behind the antique and classic finer things in life often depicted in his paintings. Because he was also apart of the photorealism movement, this painting could be a depiction of certain memories of his past (“Plaque”). The type of wood being portrayed for the cabinet could verily represent historical aspects of American history because dark mahogany was known as a native
The people of the Eastern Woodlands made many tools to help them in their everyday lives. They made spears, weirs, nets, bows and arrows, lances, knives, taps, snares and deadfall for hunting. Most of those tools were made of wood or bark and other forest material. Arrowheads were made from chert, or flint, from sedimentary rocks. They were shaped like isosceles triangles, the smallest arrows were used for hunting birds, the bigger ones were to spear bears or deer. Flint knives were often oval, or teardrop shaped. For fishing they made spears, weirs, and nets. They also made canoes from hollowed-out trees to help with fishing in the lakes and streams. Some other tools they made were axes made of stone to strip bark, clear fields and removing fat from hides. Axes

With works in every known medium, from every part of the world, throughout all points in history, exploring the vast collection of the Museum of Modern Art was an overwhelming experience. The objects in the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts are an important historical collection, reflecting the development of a number of art forms in Western Europe. The department's holdings covered sculpture in many sizes, woodwork and furniture, ceramics and glass, jewelry, and tapestries. The gallery attracted my appreciation of the realistic qualities of the human body often portrayed in sculpture.

Pottery. Pottery is a tradition many people try; yet only some are actually willing to stick with it. For Min, a twelfth century potter in the story A Single Shard, this tradition is not a game or a joke. He is what the people of his town Ch’ulp’o refer to as a master potter; he will not be satisfied with his work until he knows that is perfect, a perfectionist.

In conclusion, the Medieval Castle’s interior decoration began to have importance and much of its’ innovations are still used today.

Material selection is among one of the most important aspects that must be taken into account before any hanging mechanism is produced. This is because material plays an important role in determining the suitability and durability of the hanging mechanism design. Nowadays, more advanced materials have been used to replace conventional materials because advanced materials offer more advantages (Myrdal, 2009). For instance in furniture manufacturing, conventional material such as solid wood have been replaced with alternative lumber such as particle board, plywood, glulam, LVL or OSB because of their economic and production efficiencies.
