Hi it"s Wonder101,
Do you ever think you are rushed during lunch and not able to have a good lunch experience? I do! Here at my school we get 18 minutes of lunch (I timed it myself). Sometimes we're late to lunch and we have to clean up early, so then theres not much time to finish our lunch. Compare our lunch of 20 minutes time to the1hour - 2 hours lunch that the french children get. Our lunch time is not a lot of time.
According to NPR it says that if kids get 20 minutes, they eat 35% less than kids with 25 minutes to eat. “Dedicating to little time for lunch leads to rapid eating which is not good for your health as doctor Patrick Serog told Le Figaro the French newspaper “when we eat quickly we don’t have time to feel satisfied.”
Another problem with lunches is that we don’t get healthy food. Global citizen talks about lunches in Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, and many other countries, get home cooked meals for lunch like Rice, mustard greens and a fried egg when we get microwaved mac and cheese. These are all the reasons why I believe we should improve our lunch break and have a longer time with healthier choices. Tell me what you think below. History of LaGuardia Community College: LaGuardia Community College was founded on January 22, 1968 by a declaration of the Board of Higher Education of the City of New York, a New York State agency which was the agency in place before the Board of Trustees of the City University of New York. The college's first president was Dr. Joseph Shenker, who had been Acting President of Kingsborough Community College. At age 29 he was the youngest community college president anywhere. In October 1970, the Board of Higher Education, named the new college after Mayor LaGuardia. The college was officially opened on September 22, 1971.
“Education is not the preparation for life; education is life itself.” - John Dewey. Every year, as we enter a new grade, new challenges approach us. Eighth grade is no exception., and will be very different from 7th grade. As I enter my eighth grade school year, I will be bombarded with a variety of new experiences and challenges such as buddies, academics, and being prepared for high school. One of the most important tasks that is thrust onto me is buddies.
This will give us the extra push that's needed so the lunch expansion won't be a problem. You’ll still be getting your education and also being provided with more than enough time to devour your delicious lunch meals. Teachers may think this is a great idea. However, students will not want to read a book or do any assignments in this period of time. The hour of lunch should be about eating and eating only. Reading a book will not harm you what so ever. It will only make you better.
In other words, the food is not delicious and there are not many choices. Also, when children don’t get proper nutrition, they have trouble focusing on school. Most students do not buy lunch because they feel it is unappealing and do not like the food served. Many students go to other kids and ask for food. In addition, many students do not eat breakfast, so they rely on lunch to fuel them for the day.
There are many different opinions about the differences between faith and reason. Traditionally viewed differences between reason and faith are that reason is something that requires empirical, factual evidence while faith relies merely on, well, faith. For something to have reason it must have some kind of factual evidence to make it true, or at least very good sound reasoning to believe that whatever it is, is factual. Faith is far from something that attains empirical evidence, faith usually relies on personal accounts which are usually of mystical content. Many philosophers have different opinions about how the two can coexist; some say under no circumstances at all, while others claim they can justify each other, and some claim faith is reason alone. Some philosophers claim that believing in God is an obvious choice by the claim that just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there like Blaise Pascal. Blasé Pascal and Clifford offer two completely different standpoints on the role of reason and faith.
Lunch time is a time to take a break from the day and recharge for the rest of the day. In elementary schools it is also a time to meet up with your friends and socialize. Lunch time is not only time to eat. It is important for the mental, social, and emotional health of the children as well. Children need them chance to unwind and destress, which is promoted by socializing with friends. “Lunch should be an enjoyable part of the school day for students, offering a break from classroom work and a place to relax, socialize, and become nourished.”("The Cafeteria: Creating a Positive Mealtime Experience", 2013) Lunch time should be done in a setting where
All school provide lunch for their students and some even provide breakfast. One of the points “The Crucial Role of Recess in School” makes, is that when recess is before lunch the children tend to eat more. This makes less waste of food and money for the school.
Imagine if East Jordan high school offered several elective and AP classes to students. Imagine how it could benefit the students of East Jordan Public schools. It would offer much more to students. East Jordan high school use to have many elective classes like: Forensics, Environmental sciences, Creative writing, honors biology, and advance writing, but now the high school does not offer enough elective and AP classes. East Jordan high school must add more classes because they help with schedules, college, and preparedness.
Since my middle school years, I heard that Haines City High School (HCHS) was a breeding ground for gang fights, drug sellers, and dropouts. However, I was unable to attend another high school due to my parents not being able to drive me to a different school. “Discipline yourself to keep on track to really achieve any goal that is worthwhile until it's accomplished.”, a quote that I read and led my entry in high school. As my goals are to join the military and graduate from college with my bachelor’s degree, HCHS has the JROTC program and computer classes that I seeking for.
The learning world for sophomores at Yucca Valley High School is in shambles. A very small percentage of students from this high school are likely to go to college to pursue their career. Living in an impoverished area does not help the fact that very little people from this town attend universities and get college degrees. Students are also achieving poorly with only one third of the school having a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Students need to have a chance to compete with students from other places so they, too, can go to college and be educated. A typical sophomore schedule consists of an English class, a math class, a science, World History, and physical education. Why are the students achieving poorly? There is a large gap in
This could result in terrible grades. Also, this would interfere with extra-curricular actives, such as sports. With less time to do homework, students might not be able to do sports, and would become unhealthy. Students can get bullied for their weight or size. Others might not think they are comely. Also, with less time to do work, students can get terrible grades. The consequences of long lunches are unacceptable. We cannot do
Hi, it’s me again. I have struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts for the past two years. I have had so many bad times but a good time to go with all of them. I have had three rules that I have always looked to when I am feeling down or hopeless. The first one is that no one expects you to be perfect and that everyone makes mistakes. The second rule I look to is that don’t say you’re fine when you’re really not. My last rule I always look to is that one day, everything will be alright.
Junk food in schools are mostly sugary snacks that have little to no nutrition whatsoever. The real foods kids need to be eating is fruits, and vegetables in the meals they naturally get. The children also need time, in order to actually eat the foods they get, not hurry and buy junk food as a substitute for something that will give them energy. If they had the time, then the kids who struggle to finish their lunches that have been packed, will most likely take time and actually enjoy their meal and eat. Not all students in the cafeteria are able to have a well-packed lunch, so they would
Why is this a problem? Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better, more advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren’t motivated to eat unhealthy, not-tasty food.
