In the two stories, Wonder, by R.J Palacio, and Because of mr. Terupt, by Rob Buyea, Summer in Wonder, and Alexia in because of mr. Terupt are complete opposites and they have nothing that is similar between the two. In Wonder Summer is a nice girl that tries to be nice to everyone and is never mean to anyone because of when nobody else sat by or would be friends with Auggie, the main character in wonder she did. But on the other hand Alexia is mean to everyone and always puts herself in front of everyone else and is only looking to be popular. In the two stories I think that Summer and Alexia are two complete opposites and it shows it in many ways. One difference that they have is how nice they each are. While Summer is nice to people. She
sits next to Auggie everyday. And when everyone else was being bullies/being mean to Auggie she became Auggie’s friend. Additionally she wanted to hang out with him during lunch and even declined one of her popular friend’s invitation to sit by them. I think this shows how nice summer is to people and especially Auggie. But,Alexia says bad things about people behind their back and even right in front of them just to be even meaner like she said ,“Look at Danielle over there, and how fat she is. She should be working with the food” and she said it loud enough so Danielle could hear her. Furthermore, during the project she was bossing people around and even got called out into the hallway by Mr. Terupt, And she bullies people a lot I think the shows how much of a bully Alexia is and how much she comments on how people look. The next difference is being mean like Alexia, makes fun of people, because of what they look like or how they are and of how nerdy/smart they are. She also makes rude/snotty comments about people. Also she blamed Jessica for bossing her around and not letting her do anything when she got called out into the hallway. On the other hand, Summer is almost never mean to anyone. And she is nice to almost everyone. Also she always tries to be friendly to people. The final difference that they have is about being popular. First of all, Summer is not as popular because she only hangs out with a couple of people at a time. Secondly, she used to be popular until she sat next to Auggie and became friends with him, like in the story when they were playing four square she didn’t want to play because of Auggie and they made up something like the cheese touch if you touched Auggie. On the other hand Alexia is very popular and is always in a group of people and everyone wants to hang out with her. I think that this shows how how Summer is not so popular From the examples above you can see that Summer and Alexia are two very different people.
In both books they share some traits, even though they may not look anything alike they are. both of these novels are dystopian novels and many characters share similarity’s.
Therefore, the characters have similar and distinct traits. Lina and Elie, Ona and Mrs. Schächter, and Elena and Shlomo are the most analogous, although they have certain differences. Lina and Elie are alike by being benevolent and defending their families. On the same note, Ona and Mrs. Schächter are alike by how they react to the harsh events of the Holocaust. Lastly, Elena and Shlomo are alike by being strong in a time of crisis. These novels share many features, but also are dissimilar in several
A recurring theme is shown in The Veldt and All Summer in a Day. This theme teaches that letting hatred and desire take over can drive people to do awful things. Despite this alikeness, the characters of the stories are quite different. Wendy and Peter from The Veldt play the role of the antagonist. However, Margot plays the role of the protagonist, her classmates (the supporting characters) being the antagonists. But overlooking this, the big picture of the stories remains the same; that letting hatred and desire take over can drive people to do awful
works of literature have tremendous amounts of similarity especially in the characters. Each character is usually unique and symbolizes the quality of a person in the real world. But in both stories, each character was alike, they represented honor, loyalty, chivalry, strength and wisdom. Each character is faced with a difficult decision as well as a journey in which they have to determine how to save their own lives. Both these pieces of literatures are exquisite and extremely interesting in their own ways.
... Their attitude and tone is something that can be contrasted in the two stories.
Both have many similar characterizations, mostly they revolve around there innocent tendencies towards their view of the world and what it brings to them. While their point of views are also similar, being that they are in basically the same situation and are looking up towards females and trying to be there for them like I said before. This just shows how much the two of them need to learn in their years to come.
Summer shows us that she is kind in a very thoughtful way. One way she showed kindness was not telling anyone that she was Teddy’s boyfriend. When most girls have a boyfriend. The blab all about to everyone. But if Summer were to tell everyone, Teddy and Summer would be all over the news, and Teddy did not want that. So, Summer did not blab. This was really hard for her because Teddy state's, “Most people don’t know Summer was my girlfriend. Even our closest friends,” This tells us that she could not tell anybody that she was dating
Although there are multiple examples of how these two characters are the same, there are very clear differences as well. One of the
People of the current generation have adjusted their speech in order to avoid criticism for whatever opinions they may express. Of course, we all have opinions, but do we want to be told that we’re wrong? No, and society has changed because of our weakness and inability to accept being wrong. Instead of declaring our thoughts with absolute belief, we add an interrogative tone to allow things we say to be changed without it having an affect on how smart or cool we seem to be. In “Totally,” Taylor Mali uses figurative language, diction, and syntax to convey that society has lost its voice of conviction.
The famous song “Let the Mystery Be,” written and performed by Iris Dement in 1992, is centered on Iris’s personal philosophy on the question of religion and life’s origins. The song begins with the chorus, which is repeated two times throughout track. The first half of the chorus states that people are always concerned with the question of how life began and what happens after we die. Then in the second half, Iris ties the theme of the song together by maintaining that since no one knows the exact answer to these questions, she’ll just “let the mystery be.” The first verse of the tune considers popular perspectives on the questions mentioned in the chorus. She begins each idea with, “some say…” and then summarizes its ideology. Some of the
Modesty vs. Floozy is how I would describe the difference between Miley Cyrus and Sadie Robertson. Both young girls have spent their teenage years in the spotlight surrounded by tabloids, the media, television, and money. Each one has taken completely different roads throughout the fame and fortune, and each one has had some type of impact on people throughout America. They have also had the same amount of exposure in the media, starting at a young age.
The first of many important similarities is that in the book as well as the movie, May, August Rosaleen and Lily all
In two completely different short stories Harrison Bergeron and Searching for Summer have many similarities. First off, Harrison Bergeron, like Searching for Summer, is a story of a dystopian society that oppresses its people, although one is by the government, and the other is by the environment. The strong carry weights, the smart have earpieces, and the beautiful wear masks. The sun never shines due to the clouds that always cover the earth. Likewise, both stories search for this beauty in the world but only had this beauty for a short time. They know that this beauty does not last long, but both characters choose to seek it anyways. Both stories take place in the future, but in two different and horrifying realities.
Have you ever felt like you were different? Or have you ever been teased? Well in the story Wonder, By R.J. Palacio, and the story The Girl Who Was Born With 2 Arms and 2 Legs, by Stuart Baum, the main characters Auggie and Quarta get teased because they were different. But they manage to stay positive and be strong. They stay strong because, they know they are different, and even though they get teased the handle it well.
A famous magician suffering from a head injury tries to convince his skeptical daughter that he came from another world, that he can fly, and that he must now return to his planet before the government finds him.
